Callum O’Hare marked his first start at the Coventry Building Society Arena in 11 months with a brace against Birmingham City.
The midfielder scored twice either side of half-time to wrap up three points for the Sky Blues in Championship action.
O’Hare’s goals were his first for the Club since returning from an injury which had kept him for ten months.
The first shot on target of the game fell to the path of the visitors and it was Krystian Bielik who tried his luck from range, but it was easily held onto by Brad Collins.
At the other end, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Milan van Ewijk were combining well down the right-hand side, and it was from the channel that City almost broke the deadlock. A ball into the box from Milan was met by the on running Callum O’Hare, but his shot was saved well by John Ruddy.
City would find the game’s opening goal a few moments later, as O’Hare this time made sure he beat Ruddy, working his way into the box and poking it past the ‘keeper to make it 1-0.
It was almost 2-0 minutes later and again it was down the right and van Ewijk played a low ball across the box for Ellis Simms, but at his near post, Ruddy saved well.
HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 1-0 Birmingham City
City came out for the second half how they ended the first, as they looked to double their tally, something they may have done, if it wasn’t for John Ruddy in the Birmingham goal.
The Blues ‘keeper denied Haji Wright twice, firstly keeping out a header from close range and then closing down the striker and putting his face in the way of danger to block Wright’s shot inside of the area.
Birmingham had a chance to test Collins at the other end when a corner was met by Marc Roberts at the front post, but Brad was able to gather.
Wright was finding himself in space, this time breaking from an O’Hare ball through, but again he couldn’t beat Ruddy.
The Blues ‘keeper produced a stunning stop to deny Milan van Ewijk, with the defender letting loose from 30-yards out and Ruddy getting a hand to the effort.
However, Ruddy would finally be beaten again and it was O’Hare who unlocked the door, keeping his composure in the box and dancing his way through to fire the ball into the back of the net.

What a win again things finally starting to click exactly what we needed. Though we aren’t utilising the strikers as good as we could things are a lot better. Great from O Hare with the two goals. Tough few games coming up but I believe in the sky blues things will be good pusb

A bit of a pity you didn't include the post match scenes, we saw them at the City Unseen vids so still good. But were just curious how it looked from your corner. :) :)

100% Confidence. We are always giving away late goals and a 1-0 lead doesn't fill me with confidence
