I found your channel last week through the algo, likely due to searching for creative inspiration and I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm completely new to filming my content, with a much better grasp on live streaming. But now I'm finding a desire to do more storytelling as it relates to my craft of miniature painting instead of just straight up tutorial content. I'm finding that not only have your videos been providing tangible technical experience and advice but I'm motivated by them. You make it seem approachable and doable. Really love this style of video, talking through why you made the choices you made while the video is playing is super helpful! Do you know exactly what you want to shoot before you go out, or do you collect a variety of shots and put together a narrative in the editing phase?

It's informed improvisation. I'm composing as I go. For short films, I'll do a full shot list.

Love this explanation! How did you physically set up the large shots of you walking in the streets? Did you bring a big tripod and set it up across the street? Also for the scene where you filmed yourself getting coffee in the window, how did you get the medium shot with the lady inside? Did you have to put the tripod pretty close such that the lady could also see it? 😂 I always feel so awkward when filming in public in obvious ways so that stops me from getting shots I like. Thank you!

Yup, just a tripod and lots of running back and forth 😂 As for passers by, I asked permission first and then just ignored the looks of other people who were coming in and out of the café. But it is awkward. And sometimes risky... the construction worker near the beginning was coming for me to see why I was pointing a camera in their direction. I got the shot and got out of there quick.
