Dr.Sanjay, humanity thank for choosing to study Pathology to make clear in lay man's language the processes that are unfolding at microscopic level. Your knowledge is well taken.
I have had asthma all my life, I'm 43 and my regular colds always turn into pneumonia. Respiratory failure and I've had ARDS, from bleach, cleaning my house. And sepsis. If i get covid-19 I'm not going to survive this. I have a daughter who depends on Me, I'm all she has. Please stay home if you're sick! You will save lives
heard china injecting patients with vitamin c .you don't have to fight it hard if you can weaken the virus inside your system & avoid sugar of any type (which strengthen virus )
I am just like you . I have 30 years of hairspray in my lungs. I get pneumonia every winter and I have asthma. I take vitamin C and that helps pneumonia. I am afraid of this ,too. This virus doesn't like heat. I heard if you blow hot air from a blow dryer up your nose it will help kill the virus, or sit in a sauna.
Thank you so much. My lung was so white when I ended up with Empyema. They kept telling me it was pneumonia. It lasted a year until I barely made it, I cannot imagine me, or others through this pain. I’m going in tonight, pneumonia, however other reasonings, not wanting to make anyone panic. You truly made so much sense to why they told me to be checked.
I spoke to a nurse at a local hospital here, I know she was about in her 20’s, making sure if I went in to effect anyone, she told me I’d have to wait, while another National Nurse told bee to call before hand. So in Idaho, the United States, really needs to get it together. I’ve had two kids with cancer, what I had to be taught, for the sake of my kids lives. I don’t take this lightly. I’m calling them back, actually, calling the other hospital now. Due to a few red flags.
I’m so thankful that you made this video!!! Thank You So Much!!! It’s deadly serious to elderly people. I’m self isolating but I am having to explain to others Why they need to do the same thing. Frustrating as it is. This video will be greatly helpful!!!♥️
Dr. Mukhopadhyay - I often have a hard time trying to explain to the patient and their family members what goes on in the lung with ARDS, so thank you for your wonderful presentation. I was hoping that you might explain what the therapeutic goals are related to fluid management and how knowing the transudation rate of plasma and proteins can assist with treating the fluid in the lungs as a result of the pathophysiology of ARDS. Thank you.
Outstanding presentation and explanation, thank you! This was done in such a way that laypeople will clearly be able to see the danger of CoViD-19. I will be sharing this. Thank you again.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay, Thank you for your work! Are the fibroblast cells replicating and producing excess collagen so as to repair damage that has already occurred?
Hey, doctor! Unrelated technical point: I was wandering whether you had to write with your right hand because of the pad you are using. Because all graphic tablets / pads have have the "left - hand" option. You should be able to find it in the settings.
Thank you so much for this - this was excellent (as usual!). For a long time now, I have been very diligent about hand washing and sanitizing surfaces or wearing gloves (pumping gas!) during flu season because of my interstitial lung issue. Due to this new horrible Covid 19, I am WAY more careful and definitely social distancing because I am terrified of ARDS and even endocarditis (since I have a pacemaker)! There are no cases in my county confirmed yet but it is only a matter of time before we have one at my hospital. I loved seeing this excellent teaching on the pathology aspect in the lungs. Dr Jerad's videos have been so awesome as well. Thank you again and stay safe!!
@Missy Coleman I live on the East Coast. We had our first case at the hospital today, March 23, 2020. Take good care of you and stay safe. I am self isolating too.
This was a great video - thank you so much for sharing. May I ask what kind of stain was used, and was it used in both the stained and the normal slides?
Thank you for this very thorough explanation of the effects on the lungs in severe cases. I have Nonspecific Interstitial Pneumonia (fibrotic type). I take Cellcept and use a POC to get around. I’m working from home now but may have to return to work after Easter. I’m very concerned about whether I should stay home longer. Would the result of ARDS cause more interstitial scarring in my lungs?
Nessaleah Tia yes you need to be extra careful around this time. Stay home and please ensure others around you are strictly following social distancing
My mom had bronchiectasis too, and struggled to breathe most of her life. My advice to you would be to see a good pulmonologist and stick to their advice.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay, could CPAP machines be used to help with mild cases of COVID? Would alternative machines like those buy time for patients that may turn into severe cases?
Great presentation 👍 Normal people who cannot understand technical stuffs can easily understand and gauge the seriousness of Corona virus. Thanks for awareness.
I am a ARDS survivor! I got it from H1N1 swine flu. I get out of breath very easily and my lungs will not hold as much air as normal. I worry what will happen if I get covid-19
Amy Harding similar in some ways but quite different under the microscope. In pneumocystis pneumonia we pathologists can see the bugs microscopically. Very sorry to hear about your dad Amy 🙏🏾
Thank you very much for making this excellent video to explain what damage Covid19 causes in the lungs. I really appreciate the time you gave to us to educate us on this danger. Thank You very very much.
i have shortness of breath all of sudden this past week but i dont have any other symtoms of the virus. could i have the virus but not have any other symptoms if it was effecting my lungs plz answer if you knoe
Is this why we have been given different inhaler treatments that close the airway and throat and refuse to allow you to change back to your original inhaler. After reporting to the doctors that every time I used my medication I was gulping like a fish. Stopped taking them in 2016 ,starting to take vitamins D higher doses and b12 magnesium. My breathing problems are fine only when I am walking or climbing stairs or physical activity but I do have heart issues. But I was not prepared to keep taking the inhaler for being breathless was like drowning without water.
Chris -- With regard to a vaporizer or anything that puts out humidity, the main concern is keeping it free from contamination, or it makes things worse. I would check with your parent's doctor for approval. That said, healthy mucosa that can ward off invaders are moist by necessity.
I had Covid 19. started on 03/19/20 and on 04/02/20 was my third day without fever. As of today I'm still having pain in my lungs. I feel very well. It's the pain in my lungs that is really worrying me. Why?
I'm just a lay person, Macro, and I haven't had covid. But I understand it takes a while to get back to 100% after having had it. From what I've read, you should feel a little better each day from now on. _BUT if you have a downturn, then you want to get help fast._ Especially if either the fever returns or the fluid in your lungs increases again -- telephone your doctor or your country's covid helpline. If it is really bad phone for an ambulance. Apparently downturns, after a person has gotten almost better from covid, can turn very bad very quickly. But if it is just sore lungs, and _each day they feel a little better,_ I can tell you from experience that that is how it is with bronchitis *(something I have had).* It can even take a week for the lungs to feel better after bronchitis. But your lungs should feel a little better every day. Hopefully it is just some residual pain and you're now in the clear!
Thank you doctor for your very enlightening video. I will be sharing this with others along with your message NOT to take COVID-19 lightly! All best to you.
@@smurf3073 I was wondering the same thing. So there is an artificial lung. However, after reading a bit about it, it seems that's another order of magnitude more complicated than ventilation and it would be unsustainable in an overloaded hospital setting...
I was facetiming with my son today he lives outside of Bergamo Italy his friend is in the medical profession in Milano. He just told me about this. And how we here in America need to take this serious. This is a NEW virus we will be learning while people are dying.
Doctor, I read a very interesting report on how ozone therapy can actually arrest this process and begin the healing. Dr Robert Rowen a teaching doctor, has the paper on his Facebook, Robert Rowen MD.
anything can kill if the conditions are right. We are literally swimming in microbes all the time. The shear stress and panic will be what causes you to fall ill in the first place, so stop over reacting and improve your outcome substantially in the process.
Thanks Dr. I have one comment, you mentioned that the alveolar lining (in nature, has evolved into as thin as possible)! I object the word evolved. Evolution has no role here. Nature can't create such a well-organized, highly specialized lining that perfectly fits its function in that particular organ/place. This is the work of a magnificent creator, all-knowing, created everything precisely & wisely. Thank you again.
Conventional medical doctors are not thinkers; They get trained - not educated. They musn't show curiosity to anything other than what they're told. They're taught "evolution" but have no idea how foolish that is. After all, whenever science probes to a deeper depth, it ALWAYS finds a higher order of organization. But in order to pass their grades, and memorize their texts, they haven't even got time to explore any new or different perspectives. They are trained to shun herbal, or any other field of medicine, other than the crap they're taught. This is why they will swear, for example, that fluoride dumped into drinking water is "good for you", why silver fillings in teeth (that contain mercury) is not detrimental, why vaccines surely work, why good herbal medicine is quackery, or why only drugs made in the lab can be effective. Really a "good doctor" is just a mindless robot. They don't realize they are the useful idiots of BigPharma. This is why till today they don't even have a cure for high blood pressure, just lifelong "treatments". And this is why the profession scorns the simple concept of The Creator!
Sanjay, are you concerned at all over the effects of 5G at 60ghz and the word that it affects oxygen molecules and therefore hemoglobin's ability to uptake oxygen into the cells?
Mike Barnes Wow, you say that as if he can change the voice he was born with. I wish men could change the size of their peepee but that ain’t happening either. Learn something or gtfo.
