In 2021 government of Spain has approved Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines and started the vaccine campaign. However, what do people think about it?
Students from the IDOH Master's degree (Infectious Diseases and One Health) carried out a survey of Barcelona inhabitants.
Around 81 % of the people questioned were in favor of others in receiving the recommended vaccinations.
Half (50%) of the people thought that it is important for them and their family to get vaccinated, others were either neutral or reluctant.
Less than half (42%) of people who participated agreed to get vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is available to them.
Only 30% of the participants had 0 doubts about the safety and efficacy of the COVID vaccine, 18% were doubtful and others were neutral.
Almost 40% of them had a preference for the specific vaccine they receive.
More than 50% thought that the pandemic is a serious problem.
Most of them were neutral to give the opinion on vaccine hesitancy being the major roadblock in ending the pandemic.
Almost 40% of the participants were either disagreed or reluctant to give their opinion on the role of the Spanish government in distributing the vaccine.
Not many were sure about getting vaccinated before summer 2021.
