Quiz question. That little arm holds the dropper pin up so one man can back up to trailer, the towing eye nudges the arm & releases the dropper pin. Pin has large handle that locks in groove in top pf clevis.
Non farmer but I know concrete is heavy. Go easy with first load. Others have mentioned floor dump hatch, I would say essential. Forget side auger, would be nightmare to keep clean. Good luck 👍
If your cleaning the Kennan out , best way I've found cleaning a pan mixer is to do another mix but just use sand gravel and water without cement , even if a small amount remains it will be diluted so it won't be a problem
Wouldn't want anymore than 5 ton of concrete mix in it or you could risk having a mixer full of unmixed product with no way of emptying it. If shearbolt breaks whilst mixing your chances are slim of getting it to turn again even with a non protected shaft
I've been working on Concrete pumps and trucks for 30+ years and if you are going to use that for concrete you need to put a small door on the bottom to wash it out because after 1 or 2 times you will have concrete stuck in it. Look up CONCRETE PUMP HOPPER'S and you will see the door for cleaning it out you can make one for it very easily
I was thinking a bale of wet straw might clean it out, just put it in slowly, a couple of layers at a time. I could be wrong, just a thought. I honestly didn't think Olly would do that to a feeder. 😂😂😂
Delivered concrete volumetric or drum is getting really expensive! Great idea to get your job done! Guessing the xerion to hold pin up while hitching up? 👍👍 when you growing a mullet northwest ambulance! Id definitely donate £20 an inch! 😂
Just thinking out loud it might be no harm if u put up a sign in the yard with help lines on it near your scales as you have so many going and coming all day great video today again
Great video as always Olly. Liking the new concrete mixer idea. Answer to quiz question is latch to drop drawer pin in automatically when backing up to an implement.
I kept a keenan for this purpose, barrel needs patching first. My main concern was how much concrete would be left below the auger. The flights must be quite worn. Did you just dilute until its just gravel remaining?
When Border Plant delivered out Malone post knocker they had a couple of 3pt pan cement mixers that were on their way to a couple of farms limited on space and with just a small flock or herd that were being used as TMR feeders. If it can work one way it should work the other way well enough though I think filling it up as full as feed would likely push beyond the limits 😉 though it would be tempting to try
For the combine put a bale of chopped straw though it a few times and see if that helps before you pressure wash my dad used to hate cleaning combine out after maize
Its a draw bar pin handle keeper. Puts pressure on the handle to hold the dring solid. Once you get a wet mix in the mixer it could go pear shaped as it will be more sloppy so not fall into auger but flow over bars and stay in drum. Could need a fair bit of adapting.
Hiya, could have saved you a run to Stoke, have recently scraped 2 tidier Keenans! Some paddle rubbers will help clean out better. Any other Keenan parts off the shelf give us a shout. And when you are ready to reline it we can roll sheets.
Hello olly we use a Keenan diet feeder but the bigger one to that have done for many years and we can get parts easily cause they only at stoneleigh park Warwickshire you have been there we have got chopping knives inside ours 👍👍
Think it might kill the Keenan. Be very careful if you have to go in to clean it and chip out with a Kango. Treat as a confined space and lock out the paddles from rotating
I thought it was April fools day when I heard what you were thinking of doing with the mixer ,it might Empty itself when new ,but definitely won't when well used 😂
We had a. Keenan just like that but I must say we never mixed concrete with it you’ll have to be meticulous at cleaning it out but must admit it was doing alright The quiz question is that it is a draw bar pin holder feeling 95% today Olly great video you really do like trying new ideas every credit to you but I do think a pan mixer would be better another fantastic video Olly keep them coming
If the Keenan mixes the concrete anything like it does our TMR you won’t have to worry about making any mistakes with the levels as you’ll be relaying it in a few years.
Once you have emptied the concrete out of the mixer give it a quick wash and then tip in a bucket of stone on its own leave it running for a while then either leave it in or auger it out, that should clean it pretty well.
Keenan won’t mix concrete. At least not for very long unfortunately. I repair plenty of them and silage kills them with 1/2 the weight you could get in that.
As a kennan user i would think you might want a PTO shaft with a hevey sherpin for mixing concrete. Is that for holding pins on the drawber . Feeling about 75% today
How many hats do you have? Bet Ian loves it when you mess up his stock control. Not sure how long that Keenan will last mixing concrete but it's going to be fun to find out.
Fab idea with the Keenan 👍👍 great vlog as always. I think that part on the xerion is to hold the pin in place when traveling🤔🤔🤔 how are you today Olly % wise? I'm 70% today 😊
If nothing else Olly at least you have another spare auger to add to all the others!! Ha ha. 😂 There’s nothing wrong in keep trying new ideas - makes for a very entertaining blog - good on you!! How much does Morgan’s mullet weigh? 🤣🤭👍
Mixed hundreds of cubes of concrete in a Keenan, scrap the side auger, it’s the weak point, and takes an age to clean, weld door shut. Keep rubbers in good order on padals, ours had a bottom hatch that my boss made to dump on to floor, probs don’t be going much over the weight you mentioned else you will start eating chains and shear bolts.
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmeryes very bottom at back with a long handle, then could ease forward to get away from concrete, I will try find some pics but it’s a loooong time ago. You’ll not be beat with a simple job like that 👍
Just a heads up somebody sitting on a disabled toilet needs to be able to wash their hands sitting down on the toilet so your wash hand basin is too far away
if was you i would get it relined cuz sand will rip it apart cuz it will already be very thing on the walls as they tend to get run until there falling apart
