Having a leather company sponsor you, must be a dream come true. I'm certain that my leather working, won't get me paid enough to afford one. The local people around me are shysters, never paying for anything like normal people. Good review BTW, they do carry decent equipment though.
Stepper foot? You mean the presser foot? I think my Bernina open arm 830 record has a thigh lever for the presser foot but I never use it. All bobbins are under the machines. It's how sewing machines work. If the rubber on your bobbin winder isn't grabbing it is too old and needs to be replaced. You can get a replacement and you may find it winds your bobbin just fine.
There are too loads of bobbins in industrial sewing machines. I actually had to get used to putting my hand under the machine to get the bobbin out. I have 3 cylinder heads that load from the side and 2 flatbeds that load from the top.
