cooking and eating food outdoors has a specific taste and atmosphere, my first memory of eating breakfast in the garden with mom as a 5 years old kid, blue sky, fresh air.. can't wait for spring and summer to go to cook in the forest :)
fun fact: the original recipe, as told by Terence Hill himself, was much simpler and included just onions, black beans, chile, tomatoes, tomato puree/sauce, water, and loads of pepper. Yes it's odd that the recipe did not involve any sort of lard, bacon, sausage or jerky, but according to the man himself that's how they prepped them, and were admittedly delicious enough to make him actually finish the whole pan during shooting...but then again he had fasted 24 hours in preparation for the scene as to pass for a man that had just crossed the desert, and the old Italian saying goes "the best spice for every meal is hunger"
Appreciate the video. But the original recipe is not as complex. Hill in an interview stated; "It is spicy! For the sauce you need chili peppers, olive oil, tomato sauce, onions, salt and a lot of pepper! Fry the onions in olive oil in a saucepan, add the remaining ingredients and cook until the beans are tender." Thought I won't deny this version you provided too is delicious.
THERES ALWAYS THAT ONE PERSON IN THE COMMENTS TRYING TO COME OFF AS POSITIVE WITH THEIR BACKHANDED COMMENTS LOL I THINK THE BEANS IN THIS VIDEO LOOK WAY BETTER THAN THE FILM🔥
My brother-in-law loves Terence Hill and asked me to make this for his birthday. Could you point me in the direction of this interview? I want it to be as authentic and easy as possible.
😀I loved these movies growing up as well, the bean scene always made me so hungry! I'm thinking making other vids like that of foods in movie scenes! It's just fun for my kids and I
a very informative video, Terence Hill and beans = that's the best eating food show(mukbang) scene in world film history. the most western movie fans including me in Korea wondered "cowboy beans". thanks for the perfect posting with the movie theme song.
"the most western movie fans including me in Korea ...." 🤣🤣🤣 This comment just made my day! You find the whole movie here on YT listed as "Cowboy Film" in english language.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!!!!!!! Been looking everywhere for this beans recipe since FOREVER. LOL Grew up watching this movie with my dad since I was 7 or 8 and loved beans thanks to this movie. And been wanting to try this beans recipe forever. Never tried it before but been wanting to try it so THANK YOU for sharing this thank you!!!
@@libakan lol tell me about it infact I wanna go cook then beans right now even though i just ate dinner already lol. Think I first saw the movie in I think 2005 loved it and I even stole the VHS tapes from my family's movie room to my room. Lol guess you can say as a kid I sorta became Trinity in a way. Lol even started eating like him
Cut bacon into squares and cook over medium heat to render the fat. Add onions and cook / stir for about 10 minutes. Add garlic and cook / stir about 5 minutes. If available, add a can of Rotel tomatoes and peppers. Add beans and heat through. Don't crisp the bacon! Just make sure it's cooked through. Ground meat can be used as well, cook before the onions or in a seperate pan. Chorizo, which is already cooked, can be used but omit the peppers unless you like it really hot. A little brown sugar or better yet molasses is good too.
i legit missed that it had a cheese element, must be Kotina cheese or however it's spelled. and heard that it's to be spicy as well, will definitely have to alterate when i try it.
@@libakan Some interview said that was a simple dish. The tavern also looks quite simple. Salted pork was a common thing at the time but... The owner says just "a plate of beans", somehow I imagine it's just beans with peppers and seasonings, maybe onions.
Always hated that scene, but not for the food. I kept wanting to scream, "Wash your hands!" over and over again. I'm not OCD when it comes to personal hygiene, but damn...
That scene makes me want to heat up a can of ranch style beans (the beans look like a canned bean brand called ranch style beans, which are really good) and slice up some white country bread , and have a nice dinner to watch the movie
@@libakan its the same with hungarian goulash. people think they must use tomatoes to reach the red/dark colour, but its only paprika powder that makes the colour.
They didn't have paprika powder readily available in the American west and was not in common use. So they wouldn't have used that. In fact Terrance Hill himself gave the recipe and NO paprika powder. What are you saying lol @@adrianog4148
Hehe, I reckon he was lying, apparently he even had it with some hot peppers... Such a great movie, all the spaghetti westerns a great in my mind, such classics, not sure where you can stream it, but probably for sale on YT for a few bucks.
I made this recipe with an electric stove and without the wine. I'd have to say it was fantastic recipe. It tasted excellent, easy to make, not as much cleaning since it's cooked all in one pan, and I had left overs that I ate pretty much every night it was that good. 10/10 would make again.
I would appreciate if you could provide the full ingredients list. I've been looking for a recipe that would come close to the one in the movie for ages.
Hep @maxbender8653 Ingredients (x2 people): - 1 cup of pinto beans, red kidney beans, black beans - any one-kind or combination. - 1 can of diced of tomatoes - 1 fresh tomato diced - 1 green pepper and/or hot pepper (optional) - 1 cup of diced lard or smoked ham or ham shank or even bacon - 1 medium yellow onion diced - 2 to 5 garlic cloves (depending on your love for garlic) - 1 to 2 tbsp of olive oil (or even bacon fat if you have it) - 1 pinch of brown sugar to take away the acidity of the tomatoes - Salt and pepper to taste - 1 loaf of bread - 1 quart of wine Check out the method in the description!
Hehe, for sure I don't think the 'chef' in that restaurant would have gone through all this trouble, nor would they have spaghetti sauce at that time... maybe ont he movie set... But I Iike a good dish!
"2 - drizzle 1 tbsp of olive oil or bacon fat (also at this stage you're supposed to start on the wine)" At this point, I realize you know what you're talking about. The best recipes take the cook into account.
Hilarious how this scene made me experiment with making cowboy beans without following a recipe and even knowing that its an actual dish. I didn't bother researching but figured, it has the base ingredients it does, then added some sort of meat or lard, depending on what I had available and it turns out to be delicious. These days I use black beans, pinto beans and kidney beans, onion, jalapenos, tomatoes or sauce, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, either cooked in lard, with bacon or ground beef or both, sometimes sausage, but its really good with just butter and no meat as well.
That's exactly right, there are a few scenes like that from either movies or cartoon or even comic books that seem universal. Asterix and Obelix banquet scenes for instance... my daughter reads them and makes her hungry!
@@J_GoTTi definitely the movie! That scene always made me super hungry watching it as a kid. And now that love cooking outdoors with my kid was great to give it a go, my daughter loves it, I make it often where we live.
@@libakan amen! It always makes me drool as well! 😂 the bread and everything looks so tasty. Also, i noticed your little girl in the clip. She is definitely Papa’s girl! It was absolutely adorable. Nothing but respect to you and your family my friend. Wish ya’ll the best!
