This Cowboy Folding Handle Carbon Steel Skillet was conceptualized to go with our line of cookware over 2 Years ago, recently we have made huge headway toward accomplishing this goal with a Folding handle Carbon Skillet being developed completely for camping, bushcraft, camp cooking, hunting, and outfitters in the last 6 months, production will begin in the coming months after final design tests and the product available hopefully 3rd quarter of 2024.

Nitriding is a heat treating process that diffuses nitrogen into the surface of a metal to create a case-hardened surface. Thank you for your views and support hopefully this skillet will be available in the 3rd Qtr of this year. Please Like and Subscribe

Don't forget about the lid !!! Possible plate/lid combination that is recessed to use as a mini dutch oven .

Cold Handle skillets are iconic. People have had a long time to forget about their problems. As a teenager, I got a couple of my grandparent's skillet with covered handles out of our storage loft. The larger they were, the more they warped. The handles did not stay cold for long when over a campfire. I was a novice camp cook so it may have been my fault that food stuck.

It's about time somebody made this. I would love to see a round griddle too with just a tiny lip, something around 10 inches. And a pot as well for stews, thin steel pots aren't great for that.

Screw camping, I want one of those for my kitchen at home! Dave, don't worry about wearing glasses. Most folks wear them. I even wore them for a decade on M1 tanks and then 2 decades overseas in the badlands.

Most of the warped sheet steel cooking vessels I've seen were overheated. "Seasoning" can't be scraped off. It's in the pores of the metal. Burned gunk can be scraped off, and needs to be anyway. Sheet metal and cast iron vessels improve with use and minimal care. Thanks for the video

Nitride coating is used in rifle barrels. Dave's right, it isn't really a coating, more like anodizing but with steel. This looks awesome.

Since you are on it, I think it will be great to produce a two pieces kit with the skillet and a pot, the skillet being also the lid for the pot. I think it will be great because sometimes in the outdoors, a stew taste better than a fried egg with bacon.

Man Dave, that’s gold right there!!! I want two for truck camping off of my tailgate during hunting and fishing trips in the Sierras!!!! I 💙 carbon steel! I swapped out all of my kitchen cast iron skillets out for de Buyer Mineral B Carbon Steel pans. Now I want Path Finder carbon steel for all of my outdoor cooking needs!

I love my cast iron and cold steel skillets! Please bring this to market in a 10 inch with a lid. I will preorder it right now and try to be patient until my Christmas present for 2024 gets here!

Awesome news. I like that it has quite some depth to it. The folding steel skillets from stabilotherm is really flat and making some nice potatos in it results in a mess and many potatos on the ground.

Best thing I've heard from you since the PFM40! AWESOME! Super exciting! I want a ten inch, and an eight inch. If I had to choose, I'll take the ten first. I can do more with it, and it's still packable. A lid is super important. Maybe they can be made to work with the lids from the current stainless skillets? Sensational news Dave! Great looking skillet. Reminds me of the 10” GSI carbon skillet that doesn’t appear to be made anymore. However your handle looks more stout. The GSI was also Ultra Hard Nitride.

I really like this skillet. It’s much like one I came across some years ago that I use when I’m in the woods. The difference is that the handle on the one I have folds to the inside instead of to the outside of the skillet. I’m sure your version will work well and last for a while.

Im watching this video from the comfort of my foresters quilt!! So glad i set an alarm to scoop up one of these before they sold out. The quality, versatililty and warmth for the $65 price point is insane. Glad to see i still have some products to look forward to!! I was thinking about a lightweight wok for camping and was searching around for a titanium one but titanium doesn’t retain heat like a carbon steel one. I was thinking maybe a lightweight cast iron pan without the protruding handles then Dave comes out with this fantastic skillet.

I am impressed. I have tons of trouble with food sticking hen I'm cooking. Now I've found the answer. Maybe add a lid to your marketed version and a 10 inch version? Great Job ;-)
