Delicious!!!! The only thing I couldn't do is wait 4-6 weeks to start eating them! They do get better the longer they sit! I'm growing more peppers next year! Thank you!
I made some it is delish. Only difference is after putting in the jars with slotted spoon you cook syrup down till it gets thick about 5 or 10 min and then add syrup to jars . And I canned up leftover syrup for putting on pork roasts or veggies or any meat. I personally cant do anything hot but everyone loves it
I was gifted 2 cases of Jalapenos. I made everything I could think of from them including cowboy candy. I did part of them on a mandolin got very thin slices did the other half like yours. Both are wonderful. The thin ones are marvelous on sandwiches. God bless.
I realize slicing is traditional but we’re chopping the Jalapeño’s in chunks this year instead of slicing. We tend to chop the end results so why not do it from the get go. Got the idea from “That 1870’s Homestead”. Made so much sense. Thanks for sharing this!
@LicoricesMemories my favorite is to serve it over cream cheese with crackers, but it is also good with meats, and whatever you can imagine, and use the leftover liquid for a meat marinade.. I love to use the leftover liquid to make Cowboys Candy brittle!
When I've made this I add about as much garlic chunks as jalapeno. Needless to say, I make this at least 4 to 5 times a year, 20-30 half pints each time. Why so much??? Friends and family must have a super notification bell in place because they show up within days of me making this, hhahahaha. This summer I finally told them if they want this they must bring me lids, and return my jars. I am set on lids for at least 6 to 8 months to come, much to my shock. Oh, and we use leftover syrup from opened jars in marinades. Nothing goes to waste. You sure look and sound happier! Stay healthy and Be Safe!!! Morgan
@@elizabethinthemountains4433Hi , do you follow KT & family at Heritage Ways ? They just got settled in Ohio after road tripping in the RV for about 18 months. They are an awesome christian family, the kids do a wonderful job in front of the camera. Do you have a channel Elizabeth ? regards, Adele from Australia 🇦🇺 xxx
I made these, but i cut them up and made the into a sweet jalapeño relish that i use in my tuna fish salad, potato salad, chicken salad and even in my deviled eggs. I don't care for pickles, but I love jalapeño peppers.
I had these at restraint with a sandwich in Kimberline City Missouri at Daennas and I loved them so thank you can’t wait to buy some pepper and can them
Wonderful video. I love cowboy candy. I so wish I could have seen you when was here at Lori's. I ended up having walking pneumonia so glad I did not go around you guys. God is Good.
I'm thinging of 2 family members who just love the heat! Hoping I can find some here...Oh heckle! I forgot that I don't own a canner! My mission is on Hold! But it was good to see you do it. Thanks for the tutorial 😊
Thank you Vickie I loved how you explained how many jars you were doing (not many videos do this at all which is hard for us beginners especially doing smaller batches ) along with how many pounds of jalapeños aside from all the breakdown on your the other ingredients Always appreciate you taking the time to make your videos and share your recipes with us all God bless
This a great video.i never seen them done this way , i got a lot of them from my garden and i had to freeze them but next year i will be doing cowboy candy. Even my son& law wants to try them.thanks for sharing.
Hello friend, this is one of my very favorite things to make. I love these things and could just eat them like candy. LOL. Just a cautionary warning that you may be contacted by the company who has now trademark the name cowboy candy. My video was tagged as were several others who made a video like this so I changed my title to candy for Cowboys. 😬😂😜Also, the term cowgirl candy has also been copyrighted. Love you friend!♥️katie
Thank you for the heads up! I hadn’t heard this, so I have changed the video name. Funny, I thought this was a thing before someone trademarked it. xoxoxo
Miss Vickie thank you for this recipe! We had a ton of jalapenos from the garden last summer. We didn't can any, but made several jalapeno poppers. I also diced some up for the freezer and sliced some and cleaned the seeds out and froze some to make more jalapeno poppers when we want them. I want to try this recipe this year! God Bless.
My Daughter bought some of hers for our Christmas, and served it over cream cheese, it was Soooooooo Good, now I am making some soon. She said they also canned the juice of it and use it on chicken.
You made that look so easy but we know it's work...although a labor of love. My great aunt made something similar but used a mix of peppers..so pretty in the jars!
Nice video , very informative and pleasant not obnoxious . Your apron is pretty with those roosters ,yes I I'm particularly fond of chickens and farm life .

Last time I made..my hands burned fir 3 fmdays!! I am allergic to the oils!! This time I'm wearing not only plastic gloves, but new garden gloves over and I now have a hand chopper!! Either it works, or not!! Lol!! But cowboy candy is addictive!! I chopped mine.
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. Several Southern living recipes keep mentioning this as an addition to the dish so it's nice to know how to make it. Can you tell me what the importance is of debubbling before you put the jars in the canner? If you accidentally miss some bubbles will it be ruined?
You always want to debubble to at least get any large air bubbles out. With the jalapenos, there are air pockets in them, so just use something non-metallic to agitate what is in the jar. The reason you do this is that it may not evenly heat the interior of the jar if there are large air pockets. This is important in every type of canning.

Came over from Whippoorwill Holler, she says lots of nice things about you so had to check you out. I subscribed! :). Enjoyed the video but ? what size pot are you cooking in? I'm like you if I want to can I want to make it worth my while.
Thank you, and welcome! I’m not sure exactly how much it holds - it’s not marked. I have had it many years. One of these days I will measure out quarts of water to find out. 😂
I am so going to try this! Thank you again for sharing, I just love your videos. You are absolutely right, if you are going to do one batch, you might as well do 10! - LOL! There is always something else to do another day if you love to can things.
Especially for something like this it is worth doing more than one batch. Mostly because I can’t seem to make enough to share with everyone that loves it! Have you seen the recipe for the cowboy candy brittle? It is amazing! I got another request for it again tonight!
@@VickiesCountryHome I will absolutely watch that brittle video❣️ I make an old recipe from my Mom and Aunt. We call them Mustard Pickles, cucumbers, green tomatoes, cauliflower, pearl onions. Sauce is tumeric, mustard powder, sugar, white vinegar and stuff. Gave so much away I ended up with 6 pints! I have family and friends wanting more but I got sick and that got put on the back burner for 3 years. That one takes 2 days, one is chopping and brining.🐾🐾💕
An update :) I planted out my Jalapeno plants much earlier this year and I have a harvest :) !! Some years they didn't even grow fast enough to produce anything before the weather cooled off, so hopefully this year I can make a teeny batch of cowboy candy..woo hoo ! p.s. Hope your husband is doing better every day. Blessings ~ Linda
@@hopelovefaith1321 I personally am a heat whimp but my husband and son love it. I also saw a recipe for habanero jam or jelly that’s lurking in the back of my mind.
Dear miss Vicky. My family loves jalapeño jelly etc which I try to make for them every year. My problem comes in when I start to cut them up. No matter what I do the peppers affect my breathing and I begin coughing and it burns my throat. I wear gloves, goggles, and a surgical mask but it still affects me. Do you know of anything I can put on the peppers to avoid this issue. I don’t mean to go on but just asking. Thank you for all your wonderful videos and recipes. Blessings to you this holiday season.
I do use “onion goggles” whenever I have a problem with something like that. They have foam around the edges, so they keep the fumes out. Let me know if you want a link. As far as a mask, I’m not sure what type, but I do know I have tried that old trick with a piece of bread for really strong onions. You might try that. Put a piece of bread in your mouth (sticking out). That keeps the fumes from getting to your nose or mouth. Good luck, and God bless!
Can I make these and not actually can them, just keep them in the refrigerator for a week or two? I have never canned before and I’m not sure I’m willing to take that on right now, but I want to make this for my son, I know he will love it!
Hey, Terry! She did a water bath for 15 minutes at sea level...she adjusted to her altitude. I totally forgot about these yummy gems, I got to make some soon!! ((Hugs)) from Texas!! xx : )
Just made it but totally forgot the mustard seed. Seems pretty important too. Maybe I’ll add some mustard to the jar when I start using it. What do y’all think?
@@VickiesCountryHome no need to say sorry Vickie, so much time & effort goes into making your videos for us, as well as working full time...it was a simple mistake, no biggy! xx
