We revived this great race in 2008 after some 20 years - as it was meant to be. A non stop race from Cowes to Torquay and back a distance of some 180 nm's. A fleet of 40 boats set out on a gorgeous warm sunny Sunday morning with flattish seas.

Spent a couple of hours talking to Fabio, great guy. That was the year the Follett boat didn't run as they bent their rudder and damaged a prop. I was in the pits with the crews. Awesome!

You must mean Fabulous Fabio Buzzi! Awesome racer, mechanical engineer and genius, record setter and an awesome Great guy! When he visits my hometown of Key West Florida USA, he is treated like a rock star! We are going to miss him!

Red FPT has had over a dozen different names! Very old boat yet so incredibly durable!

I first went to this great event in 1976 when the boat "I Like It Too" won. Nothing like being on the water at the start where you can get great images and experience those tremendous sounds. The boats looked and sounded amazing even back then so I'm looking forward to this year's (2019) race. Thanks for this great footage. Shame F1 cars don't sound like this.

Why do they have to drown out the absolutly awesome sound of those boats by cheap blaring muzak from some punk band from the senties. I have yet to understand the point!!!

Very difficult to get the sounds of the engines when filming from a chopper, most of the engine sounds are drowned by the noise from the chopper.

@@mikelloyd75 Arrogant and boring, exactly my thoughts. Its not about the sport is about the voice over the music and the edit. Race was great, video unbearable.
