Dan's skill as a visual comedian is goddamn outstanding. Being able to take something as simple as a back and forth of "OH MY GOD" and "what?" and get a laugh out of it... * does the italian-guy-kissin-his-fingers-and-throwin-it-to-the-world-thing * it'sa soooo goood.
I wonder who came up with that tradition and how they introduced it to everyone else. "Why are you hitting that log?" "SO IT'LL SHIT ME A NEW PAIR OF PANTS" "....oh...okay....I'm just going to go over here and not make eye contact..."
I'm from Spain, and this is accurate as fuck. When i grew up and thought deeper on this, it always cracks me up. We just beat a happy log so it shits presents LOL Also idk but im pretty sure its fairly common to hit it with sticks and such, at least we have always done it through my family.
I meant common in Spain, well at least in Catalonia, I'm pretty sure its a tradition from around this area of Spain. Then again I never asked my friends how they celebrate it but since we did it similarly in School, I'm pretty sure its rather common to hit the log, for those that celebrate it.
I mean it seems hilarious and fun, but I have to wonder, who in the world was the first person to think. "Alright, I am gonna stuff this log full of presents then wack the shit out of it!"
Well you don't stuff the log haha Supposedly its a magic log. Usually you put it on top of a small table, covered in a blanket or something. And before hitting the log and singing to it, the presents are put underneath the table covered in the blanket. It honestly blew my mind as a kid, since our parents sent us to another room to sing Christmas songs to get the Tio comfy to poop the presents, and while away, they put the presents underneath the blanket haha it really felt like they came from the damn log at least until i was 7-8 or so lol But ye, whoever thought shit lets smack a magic log that will shit us presents, was certainly a genius lol
I remember crying because I was laughing so fucking hard when that episode came out. You definitely did the best part justice, Dan. These past few animations have really stepped up in quality and I love it. Thanks d00ds.
1) I love how neither of them realized that this Catalan tradition is obviously an ancestor to the Mexican tradition of beating a piñata and 2) tio de nadal is probably even darker than it seems since, as far as I know, people lose the control of their bowels and defecate and urinate when they've been severely and potentially lethally beaten. So it seems the knowledge of what a lethal beating looks like on a human was so widespread that it was applied to a log in a Christmas tradition.
I just had the longest, most painful laughing fit I've ever had in my LIFE, all for a tradition wherein I take care of a wooden log like a family pet for several days, and then throw it in a fireplace and threaten to beat it with a stick if it doesn't shit on my floor. I'm thrice-dead. Thank you Cox n' Crendor, for sharing news of this tradition with us.😂😂😂
Where is this practiced? I read it's in europe, but I've never heard of this tradition! We have some weird traditions here in northern EU, but nothing like "yule log" crazy...(except Iceland ofc...)
It's not a yule log, it's a Tio de Nadal or Caga Tio, it's mostly celebrated in Aragon, Catalonia and Valencia ( all Spanish regions), its not as weird as you think tho. Source: Have celebrated it when was little kid
I was watching CnC the past couple of days on a whim. I really love the Mud Brothers animation from the few newer ones, but each new episode gets better in quality. So dang good.
The moment i heard this story on the podcast i knew that at some point in the future, there would be a CnC animated episode about it. It was just TOO good of a story hahaha! Also, Dan, you did a great job on this episode! You're always really good at turning their weird noises into visual gags (see: Cren slicing Jesse in half), and your style adds a lot of charm to the audio. Thanks guys! really enjoyed this!
Glad Dan's art is finally improving after all these years. The cartoon was okay, but that original character that popped up at the very end, the blue one, now that's art.
These animations are so good I feel almost angry because all the other animated versions of shows I watch on RU-vid aren't nearly as good. Which is doubly disquieting because I'm usually not an angry person at all. But, like, GODDAMMIT THESE ARE SO GOOD IT'S NOT FAIR TO THE OTHER CHANNELS.
I desperately want an animation compiling all the random sounds crendor has done pre-bell ring through the episodes and how this animator interprets those sounds like he does so well in these animations..
Every day I am forced to labor in the depths of Cruel Craig's Cavern to harvest minerals with my sharpened teeth. In between the whips and stabs from the hot iron I am allowed to thirstily gaze upon the enchanted box for the next animated chapter of Cox n' Crendor. Every tale brings me tears of joy that break the charcoal seals around my eyes, allowing me to search the bottomless cave for valuable gems to feed the Dark Lord's greed.
I learned about yule logs when I was 4 from an episode of teletubbies, I didn't even realize people didn't know about it until I watched this episode of the podcast.
I like to think that when Jesse quit his job as a history teacher he decided to still continue to teach people through podcasts, and let's be honest this way is much more effective.
i laughed so hard at this when it was on the podcast i nearly passed out and again now watching this animation 😂😂😂😂 god i love this please make one of jasper june please
