Coxsone Dodd interview [UNCUT] 

Rare footage of the producer and Studio One supremo, one of the seminal figures in Jamaican popular music. In this fascinating if disjointed interview, the soft spoken but authoritative Dodd reveals the patience (with technical glitches, traffic noise etc) that enabled him to record a dozen takes of a song before he deemed it right. He discusses the origin of the Studio One sound, what he looked for in an artist, the “teen” sound of a young Bob Marley, the importance of Rastafarians, the development of early sound systems, the importance of “selection”, and the origin of the word “ska”. Includes a bonus 3 and a half minute guided tour of Studio One.
