The song Coyote is off Mark Knoplfer's third solo album; 2002's The Ragpicker's Dream. Coyote is a song told from the proud point of view of the Road Runner from Warner Brother's classic Looney Tunes.
They don't make um like they use to the road runner is my favorite. Wish I could find someone to paint my bass guitar with road runner and coyote scene 😎
Road runner, Foghorn Leghorn, Buggs Bunny, Daffy duck, the little guy always hunting rabbit, and Godzilla. All a kid ever needed on Saturday mornings !!!!!!
This. Is. BRILLIANT!!!. The song is great (of course, it Mark Knophler after all as the coyote would say "a soooper geenius" but the cartoon and the way it is choreographed to the music is just so clever. This is by far the best video I have seen for a long time. Thank you for the up load.
Best cartoon ever. they don't make them like that anymore. It takes skill to create a cartoon that is capable of making adults and children laugh out loud.
There is a lot of truly great music and musicians which came out of the North-East. My part of the world too until age 29, been away ever since then though! Back in the day many would be seen playing at the Club a Gogo in the Haymarket. Great times.
well....been a Knopfler fan forever ...... and grew up with coyote and his "acme" solutions to provide a road runner dinner , so needless to say I still have tears in my eyes !
The symbiosis between the hilarious cartoon scenes and the fabulous rhythm of Mark Knopfler's tune are indeed a tremendous pleasure to watch and listen to! Thank you much for your, yes, labor of love!
I love all the work mark has done. I got into there music in 1977-78 . And the trade mark style is what I love the most . And his style of lyrics is a Masterpiece in its self . Dude like Ten Million Thumbs UP . THE WISCONSIN FARMER ROG
I always like Wile E. Coyote (Soooper Geeeenius). Despite all the set backs, he believed in himself, always had a load of back up plans and above all, NEVER gave up. .
DrOlds7298.....Ha Ha that makes sense. I was just thinking the other day that Ford has an 5.0 liter engine in the newer mustangs called a Coyote. (Some say it's a real dog.)
Look at me coyote Don't let a little road dust put you off You can't judge a book Well, you know that stuff There's a tear in my upholstery And a hole in my shoe But don't you just wish that you could Make half of the speed I do Speed I do, speed I do, speed I do You can't catch me coyote Though there may be blood on the tracks There may be some bridges burning Behind our backs But I got my laundry on the backseat And an itinerary too And don't you just wish that you could Make half of the speed I do Speed I do, speed I do, speed I do Speed I do, speed I do, speed I do Now I'm a speck on your horizon Getting smaller fast An ambush wouldn't be surprising I hope it's better than your last Once again the roadrunner Leaves the coyote in the dirt You've got another plan of action But we all know it ain't never gonna work It must be hard having dog dreams That never come true And don't you just with that you could Make half of the speed I do Speed I do, speed I do, speed I do Speed I do, speed I do, speed I do
Everybody focuses in the Road Runner .... nevertheless the hero is the Coyote ..... a lesson in perseverance and imagination !!!!! .... Never ... never give up !!!!!!!!!
I always loved the binomial nomenclature. I added my favorite pair in my latest book..."hotrodicus supersonicus" and "eatibus anythingus." Thanks for the video, Joe Bailey!
Just like how only Mark Knopfler would make a great song about a boxer who threw a fight against Muhammad Ali, only Mark Knopfler would make a great song about a Looney Tunes character.
I've always loved the bass and the guitar turn which vaguely resembles the Mexican soundtrack of the movie "From Dusk Till Dawn (Dance Snake) by Tarantino ..
What a Binger like the Wild West Singer out for a ride, catching a Whirlwind after a Dust Devil skirting the edge trying to catch a Sunset! Big Horizons for all..
Brilliant editing. "Can't catch me Coyote, though there may be blood on the tracks" at 2:04, right before Wile E. gets hit by a train 😆 One thing about Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler's music. Not only is it brilliant, it is really well recorded, a true joy to listen to on a highly resolving audio system.
Hmmmmm. It just occurred to me that Detroit never came out with a Hot Rod car called "Coyote" yet they did have one called :RoadRunner." I'm sure the Coyote would have been a very dependable car. Not as fast as the RoadRunner, But it wouldn't give up. Maybe made by ACME
Y'know, maybe if Studebaker hung around a few more years..... (Or maybe if the four way merger between Nash, Hudson, Packard, and Studebaker had been pulled off successfully...)
It may be that I've had a bit to drink, but this video was excellently put together. :-D I love the song, regardless, and I've had this 'liked' for a while, though it's only tonight that I've really watched it. I dig it.
Just thought I would like to point out that as a child growing up Bugs Bunny and all the other WB cartoons introduce me to orchestra music and I've went back and watched the cartoons that I love so much and actually listen to the music and it was like wow
Of course I had to see what this was all about and of course I'm glad I did as Mark is up there with a handful of Geniuses on that guitar along with his song writing. Thanks for the show~!!
I have to tip my hat to Mr. Coyote, he has traditional American values. He never gives up, always comes up with another plan, believes in himself. Never quits.
