this was so cozy!!!! random side note: i’m in the (horrible) process of getting my own autoimmune disorder diagnosis so every time you mention your own treatment or something in such a normal light it makes me feel so comforted to see someone who is taking care of themselves and living a “real” adult life with chronic illness! i just wanted to say thank you for normalizing that side of your life because those sorts of things don’t go unnoticed by those who need it😊 happy new year!!!!

I too am shocked by how much invested I am in Percy and Annabeth's relationship given how little I normally care for middlegrade romance, and I kept reminding myself that highschool romance rarely lasts no matter how much I adore them - and then I found out that Rick Riordan himself has been together with his wife since high school, which explains SO much about how their whole relationship is structured!

Alperton Angels isn’t out there yet? We got it a year ago! A couple of good mysteries I’d recommend, both by Steve Cavanagh: - Fifty Fifty. Twin sisters call 911 within a couple of minutes of each other, each saying that their sister killed their father and they are afraid for their lives. Which one did it? - Kill For Me Kill For You. Strangers on a Train premise. But don’t let that make you think you know what is going to happen 🙂

You should totally get a ball winder for your swift! they're great and make nice little "cakes." Also, I adore a nice maker site and repository called Ravelry for knitters and crocheters. I thought if you didn't know about it, I'd pass it along! It really helped me when I learned to knit about 5 years ago.🥰

My favorite part about the whole "I wanna go to college w my girlfriend" thing is that it's not that he's worried about them breaking up, he worried about her getting eaten 😂😂😂 I still love them so much. I had such a blast reading this book. It so nice to see getting quests w such low stakes.

One of the things I loved about Chalice of the Gods -- and maybe I'm projecting lol -- but like, when you know Annabeth was based on Becky, I feel like you just see so much love for her and the life he has bleeding into Percy's thoughts and narrative in this book. It's adorable.

I'm so glad you liked Chalice of the Gods! As someone who read the original percy jackson series when i was literally in fifth grade and now i'm 24 and in graduate school it made me cry! The themes were incredible and i agree that it's so meaningful for kids reading the series now and adults, and such a good message. ugh, i'm so excited for the rest of this new series.

@@bookslikewhoa yeah! I was literally telling my friend that when I read it. I was like, imagine the audacity of this man to write a direct continuation within such a beloved and meaningful original series and knocking it out of the park. And it's so age appropriate and relatable for the 17-25 year olds still growing up who've aged alongside percy. Ugh I could go on and on, but I just hope the rest of this trilogy continues to be amazing and Percy and Annabeth continue to get the happy "endings" that they deserve 🥲

13:30 Sex Demon Blue Balls is the name of my terrible punk band. I think the annual Rachel Harrison book works for the beginning of fall when publishers are churning out a lot of dicey wannabe cozy witch stuff - it can be hard to find books that are a lil spooky but not hard horror. I may have mentioned it already but West Heart Kill is a great meta mystery. I think the weirdly low ratings are from ppl who were expecting a thriller? But it’s really good and getting sunk by those ratings. Happy new year!

I loved Emily Wilde, but part of it was because it caught me so off guard. I went in thinking it was going to be a contemporary romcom with some light fantasy background, but it really surprised me in the best way! I'm also kind of indifferent about the fae in books generally, and this one just wound up being the right kind of fae book for me. Also, I loved the flower pattern on that baking dish!

My husband bought me the Alperton Angel books back in Oct when he was in the UK. I’ve been slowly working my way through it. It’s really fun and I’m enjoying the mystery and trying to see if I can figure it out before the end.
