I love seeing you and your mother. My mother and I were just like y’all are, best friends! Even when I was in school I had rather of been with her than any of my friends! We had always said when we got older we would own a quilt shop together. Unfortunately she acquired Alzheimer’s and all plans changed. Hug your mother extra hard for me and enjoy every moment! Your lovely ‘new’ hair, the beautiful music and gardens, the magnificent Rievaulx Abbey…you truly put your heart and soul into this vlog, as you always do, Miranda! The special times spent together with your Mum remind me of all the times my Mom and I spent together before the pandemic. She, unfortunately, has been bedridden since a stroke this past Valentine’s Day, but we are so grateful to have her still with us at 96! I am currently reading The Secret Garden and Godmersham Park to her, so those special moments together have replaced our outings together. Such is life, with all its twists and turns…all we can do is make the best of it, and never take our loved ones and the time spent with them for granted. OMG, just had to pause the video as also had my hair done this week 🤩 and yeees, London is SO SO expensive! Ive been going to Avedas flagship salon/Holborn for their model colours for years as its about £10 (they have a training academy upstairs where hairdressers from other places come to train in their colours etc). Always had an amazing experience as the creative directors guide/lead the sessions. I sometimes get my haircut there too if i can get the appointment or I go to Vidal Sassoons training academy which is also amazing. (just thought id share in case anyone might find it useful!). Your hair looks fab with the highlights.🤩 - back to watching the rest of the video LOLZ x

Helmsley is my favourite place. I live in Canada but my grandparents honeymooned post warnings Helmsley before moving to Canada. I recognized your mum’s mid Atlantic accent immediately! Now married to a Yorkshireman, Helmsley remains my favourite market town!!!!
Hi Miranda, what a delightful day out. It reminds me of some of the Peak villages. I think Belvoir confusing 😂. I was brought up in Leicestershire and Belvoir Castle was one of the places we visited. The Vale of Belvoir is a beautiful part of Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire so if you get a chance, I think you’d enjoy a visit.

Thank you Donna for your wonderful presentation! What l do with drinks such as elderflower or even Lemon soda water is to keep the bottle in the fridge and add it to about 6 parts filtered water (reverse osmosis). The bottle lasts far longer and the drink is still quite cold. Also it cuts down on the sugary addiction to dilute it quite a bit. I was using Edith Wharton's Diary of an Edwardian Lady during COVID to identify plants on my walks. I liked the biography of her life. I also liked the Diary of a country parson. I got a lovely second -hand illustrated copy. I bought the complete illustrated stories of Beatrix Potter for a dyslexic child in school who was good at sketching. The English was too antiquated to read to the little ones and that was disappointing. It was you who introduced me to Elizabeth Von Arnim.
The Helmsley Chronicles sounds delightful! I've been reading through 'Next to Nature' by Ronald Blythe this year and it's been the loveliest companion. Thank you for this lovely video with so many fun parts to it!
