I'm so thankful for your channel! My husband is diabetic and one bread he's allowed is sourdough. It's gotten so expensive that I decided to start making it. I decided to surprise him with cinnamon rolls (using all approved sweeteners) because he's so good to me. I'm disabled and he really does a lot for us and still buys me flowers. Thank you! Truly a blessing!
I think you can use xylitol or erytritol. For me I like using xylitol when baking (bread/pies) and erytritol when the cooking is quicker@@SuperBettyboop40
Since I don't have an electric mixer I tried kneeding in the eggs by hand and it was crazy difficult. Like oil and water, the ingredients did not want to come together! BUT i remembered that I have an old breadmaker stored away, so I pulled it out and tossed in the sad looking ball off goop, then turned on the dough setting. Voila! Mixed like a dream!
I have made these as sweet rolls so many times, but wanted to make something savory for our potluck after church. I doubled the recipe, cut the honey to a 1/4 of the original measurement, and filled with a garlic and parsley butter, cheddar, cooked crumbled bacon and breakfast sausage. I still drizzled on some heavy cream. I had to extend the baking time. They were a huge hit! Thanks for the inspiration!
Made this recipe today. Turned out SO delicious! I’m a novice baker and besides bread and crackers, this is my first “different” recipe to try. Easy to follow recipe and the results were awesome! Very exciting, so thanks for all you share with the rest of us. 👍🏻👍🏻❤️
I live in The Bahamas and love watching your channel and your family. We too are self employed, homestead, homeschool and have four children. It took me 12 days in our humid, hot climate of 85-87 degrees and no central a/c to finally get my starter activated. Phew!. Made these cinnamon rolls this morning and WOW.....i have never had any that tasted so good. Well they are all gone and i am going to start another batch tonight. so thank. you!
I only just yesterday found this channel whilst researching how to get started with sourdough and have learned so much from you already. Your children are so fortunate to have such a wonderful mothering influence in their lives. I find myself wishing I had such a mother even at 28 with my own 4 children!
I am so.amazed Lisa how effortlessly you are able to all your cooking/baking creations with your Theo and all your babies in your wrap. You make it looks so easy. The connections you have instilled with your infants certainly a lifelong connection. They just are so chill
I want to offer a helpful tip for those who are hand mixing. This is most definitely a “labor of love” 😄🙏🏽 what helped me to incorporate everything was splitting the dough in two then kneading like you would bread dough- the egg made the dough super sticky, I had to add a few sprinkles of all purpose flour- Then combine the two pieces back together. It was hard, but don’t give up and throw your dough away, these are delicious and worth the elbow grease 💕
I agree with the sticky part, I didn’t want to add extra flour and it seems in the recipe that she just mixed the dough and it was smooth and not sticky, I can’t get past the stickiness 😆
@@rebeccafreeman1123 the end result wasn’t “smooth looking” if that makes sense? They looked very rustic, but the texture was soft and the taste was delicious 🙏🏽 I hope this answers your question 🙂
Yum. LISA, can you PLEASE come out with a COOK BOOK? I’d love to have a physical copy of your recipes in a nice cook book! It would be amazing! ❤️love your recipes and channel!
Oh my goodness.... We made these this morning and they are TO DIE FOR!!!! Even my ornery teenage son who jokingly withholds compliments couldn't even pretend that they were anything short of AMAZING! lol Seriously, this recipe is a MUST TRY!!!
Looks fabulous wow. Thanks for showing the eggs incorporating into the overnight dough and giving the tip of speeding things up. I love the baby sounds, sometimes it sounds like he is purring. ❤️
Hello, and thank you for this recipe! I am very new to sourdough and cinnamon buns! This is my second time making these and they turned out fantastic! I just want to let people know what worked for me, as I always look in the comment section when i have questions. 1. I had to double the water quantity to 1 cup. This may be due to the fact that i live in a dry province in Canada, it’s still sort of winter, and our all purpose flour is different than the states ( so i have read somewhere). I used unbleached all purpose white flour 2. Yes, adding in the eggs the next day is difficult, but i just used one egg and squeezed it in with my hand for a bit, and then mixed it in my mixer. They turned out great with one egg. I am wondering if it might mix better if egg is room temperature, mine was not. I also forgot to add in the oil and had to add it the first day mix after everything was mixed, and it was just as difficult as mixing in one egg 😂 3. I decided to cook mine in 2 small cast iron pans. I cooked 6 rolls in each. One was 8”, and the other was 10”. The rolls in the 8” fit nicely, with very little room to spare, like Lisa’s, and were squished when done. The rolls in the 10” pan had so much room, i thought it would be a flop, but they worked out perfect! They filled out the pan and expanded to a nice size. I highly recommend using a pan that has room for your rolls to grow 😊 I love this recipe! Thank you Lisa 💕
So you updated this recipe on your blog to enccorperate the eggs in the long ferment for overnight, and it was fine. I hope you do an updated video on this!🙏 aslo, seeing the different stages of the dough would help also🙏♥️
I was coming here SPECIFICALLY to see if anyone had commented about this fact! I’ve never let dough WITH EGGS in it rest in room temp overnight and it has me SUPER nervous to do so…. You said that you did this and they came out fine/safe?
I too had to add a 1/4 cup of flour after the eggs, powdered sugar and backing soda. But then dough was just right. I agree I think it depends on where you live and the temperature of your home through the night!
I just made these for my family with my first sour dough starter discard, and I've never tasted anything better! They truly are a labor of love, especially kneading those eggs by hand lol
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you adding the info about the starter feed status (fed vs unfed). Very helpful!! With your recipes I have brought my starter to "the next level". My family and I have enjoyed your English muffins and Flat bread recipes and looking forward to adding this recipe as well.
I’ve made these cinnamon rolls 3 times for our family during Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner and it’s been a huge hit ever since. I’m not a good baker, but this recipe is so easy. Thank you, Lisa!
I made these the other day and my family could NOT stop raving about them. My husband who is very picky said they’re the best he’s ever had! Thanks for helping me look like a whizz in the kitchen. ☺️❤️😆
Omg Lisa! I never knew you could mix in the eggs with a mixer! Ive made these probably 6 or 7 times but always use my hands. It feels like it will never mix in SUCH A WORKOUT! but it eventually does and then i always have to add more flour because its super sticky. Probably because I don’t kneed it like you did in the mixer. Cant wait to try it again this way. I also always melt the butter and brush on the mixture, found it easier that way. The thread is a game changer! Use it when making my moms cinnamon rolls now too ♡ seriously one of your best recipes. People ask me to make them all the time, say they are the best they have ever had! SINNERBUNS 🤤
I made these cinnamon rolls for my husband's 30th birthday. He LOVED them! Said he never had any like it in his life! ! it was so soft and tasty and not dry at all. now he wants me to try more of your sourdough recipes lol. Also made your pancakes and banana bread, both a hit! Today I made the coffee cake and it's baking in the oven now!
These look easy and delicious!! When I make cinnamon rolls, I like to roll up the LONG EDGE of the dough. Then, I pull on the long rope and even out the width all down the “rope”, to make the future rolls all uniform in size. Then I cut them into smaller rolls because then I can get more rolls out of the same amount of dough and we prefer the smaller size. The cream cheese frosting is the BEST!!
Wow. That's all I can say is Wow. Those look amazing!! I started my sourdough starter through your channel and have made lots of your recipes but not this one yet!! I am definitely referring back to this video when I do! Thank you for the updates!
Ohhhh that looks sooo delicious! Thank you for sharing! We have a little bakery out of our farmhouse kitchen! We have never worked with sourdough though! You make it look so easy! Thank you, Lisa, for the inspiration! Blessings to you from your fellow RU-vid friends from Kansas!
I can confirm that you can add the egg etc in the next day and mix it by hand successfully! I nearly gave up and threw it all out but after half an hour of mixing/kneading it finally turned into a lovely ball of dough and made the most yummy cinnamon rolls!! I think I need to invest in a stand mixer though lol Thanks for always providing the yummiest of recipes!!
I should have waited! I just started this recipe yesterday. The dough didn’t seem to change much overnight so I’m giving it some more time. Your sourdough recipes are my “go to”. I’m giving away sourdough starter and recommending your website for those who are new 😬💯💪🏻 Thank you!
@@travelinglifesjourney8581 I had this problem too but how do I know for sure that all the flour inside the dough has been fermented if it doesn't rise? I can't digest unfermented flour so I am afraid to try it.
I’ve never made cinnamon rolls, but my husband really wants some and I’m definitely going to try yours first cuz you’re my go to for sourdough! Over Christmas I saw someone do cinnamon rolls but after rolling it up instead of cutting the log into rolls they sliced lengthwise along the log and braided it, then wrapped it into a circle to make a cinnamon wreath! I think I’m gonna try that cuz it was so beautiful and upped the wow factor!
These were AMAZING! I had to hand knead in the eggs and got a little discouraged because my dough was extremely sticky and nothing at all like the kitchenaid mixer results. I ended up adding tiny bits of flour and kneading it for a good 20mins until it was a nice springy dough. I never got the windowpane affect but it didn't affect the final result at all. They were so so good!!!
I made your cinnamon rolls last weekend and they are perfect like always! It is one of my family favorites along with your French bread recipe! Love all your videos!
I make this recipe fairly often now. It's is great. I love to add flaked almonds to the cinnamon filling to make it a little bit more substantial. I often make it also with rhubarb jam or some other fruit filling.
I left out about half the b. Sugar and are hot chocolate powder mix (I have a lot I got from work so trying to use it up 😂) it worked out delicious 💜 I’ll have to try almonds at some point
I love cinnamon rolls, have made hundreds. Hands down these were the best! I used all sprouted whole wheat flour. My kids wanted more but they were gone! Definitely making these here on out. I love your recipes! Thank you :)
I had to do this mostly by hand, as my inexpensive mixer couldn't handle it. The "dry" dough was very very crumbly, but I let it sit overnight. This morning, I mixed in the eggs....VERY messy, but it incorporated into a very wet dough. I am letting it sit for about an hour...then HOPEFULLY it will look more like yours! *grin*....not discouraged yet! Will follow up with *hopefully* good news and great rolls!
Thanks Lisa!! This video was REALLY helpful. I actually made the sourdough chocolate rolls for the Jr High Sunday School class this last sunday and I did have a hard time incorperating the eggs. They turned out good and were delishous. But watching your video I could see that my dough was too stiff and I didnt mix it long enough to get it strechy. Cant wait to try it again with this new knowledge under my belt. So yummy. Your GREAT!!
I just made these today for the first time, they turned out brilliant, so nice and soft. I thought I mucked it up when I added the egg and baking powder/soda because it was just an eggy mess, but a few minutes with the dough hook in the mixer sorted it out 😊
My Lord, those look so good! I'm going to try and start Sourdough for the FOURTH time and hopefully, I'll be able to make this recipe in the future lol Thanks for sharing ☺
We made these this week from your recipe and they were soooooo amazing! The recipe is perfect if I can make them and not mess it up!! We’ll be making them often!
WOW this looks awesome you are the BEST I tell my family and friends about you. Your energy should be bottled. You explain everything so well and I really like how you decorate
I just finished making these, they are amazing! They have this amazing almost cake like texture that a normal cinnamon roll just doesn’t have. thank you so much for this recipe
Made them and love them!! I get the whole mixing the egg trouble, mine were definitely sloshing about lol but just take it slow and then quicken it up and it’ll work out like she says in the video ❤️
Just made this recipe and they were absolutely delicious! I don't have a stand mixer, and kneading by hand wasn't too bad. Definitely worth the end product! Thank you! ♡
Finally got around to trying these. Have had my starter now for a few months, and it's doing pretty well. We have a very small kitchen and no standmixer, so I had to use my hands. You're right, it is possible to mix in the eggs, but it takes a lot of muscle 😅 got it to work though. And they turned out great! Very delicious. The only thing I didn't think of, is I made them in a springform pan, and when you add the cream to the rolls before baking, that cream will just leak out in the oven 🤭 my mistake, should've added some foil or something. Anyway, thanks for all the (sourdough) inspo. I enjoy your content, and eventhough sometimes I feel like American life is so afar from how my life is, I quite enjoy seeing how you live your life as a family. God bless ❤
Best cinnamon rolls ever! I’ve made some from scratch before from another recipe online and wasn’t impressed so I was hesitant about trying again. But I recently made your pumpkin sourdough cinnamon rolls and they were THE BEST I’VE EVER EATEN. Extremely soft and tasty. New family favorite. Thank you!
Wow. I was just starting to have another go at making these as my first try wasn't too good. I had used liquid coconut cooking oil instead of melting some. Anyway this latest effort worked much better apart from my dough sticking to my dough hook and just spinning around. I left the dough sit for a couple of hours and it became much less sticky and easier to knead.
The morning after mix is the step I was looking for! I was one of the people who commented that I struggled incorporating the eggs because the fermented batter was so hard, but it looks like you start the same way. Thank you.
I made a starter about 4 weeks ago and it’s developing beautifully! I already made the English muffins and they were fantastic!!! We are going to be snowed in here in Ohio and we have a snow day tomorrow! So these cinnamon rolls are in process of fermenting till the morning! I am so pleased I decided to try this starter and hope to keep it around for years like you!
I love your sourdough cinnamon roll recipe. I actually just made these a few days ago! They're the best! I did it all by hand and it always works out just fine. :) Thank you for always sharing the best stuff! -Emily
This recipe was flawless for me! Thanks for sharing. Just got another batch fermenting to make fresh cinnamon rolls to kick of the wknd tmrw as a little treat for my family. Xo
I made the king arthur sourdough cinnamon buns they were heavenly huge and so soft even when cold Ive been learning from you mostly love the bread recipe
