For every like this video gets, one pacer is removed from the highway alongside 2816 for the remainder of the tour Also subscribe to help me reach 10K, we're getting close!
You have posted some really good videos on this channel, but this one takes the cake! You are very good at getting great shots (especially the drone shots!) and your narration is funny and cool. Keep up the great work!!
Now I’m glad I wasn’t on the River Sub that day. That run between Red Wing and Portage was such an awesome fast run. Despite competition for shots being intense I still had a blast chasing it down to Portage.
W video BNSF 1458, I'm gonna catch CP 2816 at DeQuincy Railroad Museum on the CPKC Beaumont Subdivision on May 25, I'm very excited to see this glory pass the Depot 😊
I live 10 minutes away from an old CP station on the CP Galt Sub in Galt Ontario and still wasn't lucky enough to see the Empress..maybe one day...great shots though. Thankfully around here I've never had to deal with any Pacers...
A lot of hiccups along the way, but the footage was incredible! I also learned my lesson of pacing while being stuck behind 4014 pacers, really getting me back for all the pacing I did of a doubleheader at Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. Remember people, if you wanna pace the train, that’s fine, but only do it for maybe 3 minutes at most to let others catch up and get their own shots.
Your feelings are totally justified. Oh...don't get me started on those pacers. When 4014 came through Arizona in 2019, I remember catching it and then trying to chase it only to be held up by what was definitely more than 100 cars. I wish the police would do something about this (funny thing, there is actually an Arizona law that requires motorists to pull over on a two lane highway when there are at least five vehicles held behind it, but no one seems to enforce or even acknowledge it) as it is definitely a disruption on the road. Going to travel to Louisiana for 2816 this month, thanks for the advice, we are definitely taking the interstate!
I went to go see it when it was going through Chicago, I had went to the metra station by my house and there were some railfans there and they asked if I was there to see the steam locomotive and I said yes, and they said that it was going on a different line than I thought or it had already passed.
Nice catch. I was asked if I was going to pace the train when it comes through here in a few weeks in the Houston area...I said...have at it, I don't participate in that madness. I will be finding a remote place on the google maps area away from the people lol. Team old man railfanner.
I mean, at least I got some really good shots! I made it to all four spots I had planned out! 75 mile chase in a straight line, probably quite a bit more with all of the twists and turns.
is there even a way to track them? Also i love the whistle on that engine. the main one. the one everyone hates. i love it. anyone angry at a pacer is just annoyed they aren't the one doing it. pacing shots are cool af.
Well, you just reinforced my reasoning not to get a drone. I know myself very well and know I would wreck on in less than a minute of flight time. In conversations with other old geezer( I remember when SD-40-2 s were new) drones are the future of railfanning.
How come nobody told me about this? By the way, I was hoping to help get some railfans in touch with you for updates on stuff like this and was wondering if you could join our server. Thanks, dude! -One pacer officially removed (LOL)
