Hi Sara, thank you for sharing your experience! We're happy to hear that Final Review has been useful in your FAR preparation!

I agree. I'm a big fan of final review as well. I understood the material for FAR way better than trying to go through the fat textbook... I would use it just for visuals of long problems and journal entries, that's it. I'm using the final review and becker flashcards for audit, I feel it's much more straight to the point. Good luck on the retake.

FAR is the most difficult section. I was able to pass BEC, AUD, and REG on the first try. While those three sections were challenging, I felt that I was able to retain the important lessons with less study time. I used Surgent instead of Becker. My decision was mostly financial as it was $1,500 versus $3,000 for Becker. You get what you pay for as it is a no-frills product. There was no book when I started using it so I bought the Wiley textbooks to supplement my studying. For BEC, AUD, and REG, I only needed to go through the material once and take several practice exams in order to pass on the first try. With FAR, I felt like I studied much more each of the three times that I took it (I passed it the third time). As Sara mentioned, simulations are key when it comes to FAR. I feel that my poor performance on the simulation questions led to my first two failures. Practicing simulations helped me to gain a better understanding of how to work through the problems more efficiently and it ultimately helped me to feel more comfortable with the multiple choice questions. I admittedly did not study any of the simulation questions the first time and I got a 65. I thought that studying the multiple choice questions over and over would prepare me. The second time I took FAR, I got a 74 (I know, close but no cigar). It wasn't until the third time until I really felt comfortable with my study strategy. As a CPA, I will say that if I can successfully pass the CPA than anyone can. Like Sara, I am married. I have two children and I work full-time in Public and I did not have time to study at work except during the summers. It is extremely difficult, but not impossible to pass the CPA exam. It took me 6 tries in total (I took BEC, AUD, and REG once and FAR three times). Stay persistent and positive. It is worth it.

Quick question. Is it best to be at a public accounting or private while studying for the CPA exam ? I'm a sophomore in college.
@mmiller7615

@@danieljeronimo9663 I would say Public. You are exposed to a lot more.

well done on your persistence! I took the FAR exam yesterday and I don't think I made it. Heck I could not even find the answer to the research question. It was really upsetting. After the paper I noted all the question themes in the exam and wrote it down. Those are what I will review, together with the the review book (as per Sara), then just keep practicing the questions until I can consistency score well. I am hoping I can do this in a 4-6 week period.

keep going, you will pass and just know CPA is not the end of the world, in my country we have people who cannot read and just make millions of dollars, and as a matter of fact I'm a CMA with a certification number 51149 and passed the all CPA exam parts with average score of 93.5 in all sections at age 28 and my net annual gross salary is 2470.58 $, so being a CPA not related of what you can do in real life

I am reminded of the long nights and trying to stretch the mornings all to have more study time. With the support of my wife and understanding of my family, I achieved earning the registrations and licenses required by the SEC, & FINRA to operate a successful financial practice. Be persistent, learn and re-learn as much as you can, take every possible practice test until you bankrupt the test bank. Fight to defeat every practice question to leave doubt in the minds of the test developers that they performed a job well done making a test. Above all else, believe in yourself and in your future. You will pass. -Esteban

Hello Sara, I'm a big fan of your videos. I too have a family to care for and so am curious to know about how many hours a day to you typically study for during the week in preparation for a CPA exam section?

Hi there! In order to purchase flashcards or supplemental multiple choice questions, you'll need to be enrolled in a course. You can do so online here: www.becker.com/cpa Thanks!

Hi, do you think one month in enough for a far retake after getting a 60
@SaraMarie
@SaraMarie 5 лет назад
I think a month could be good as long as you don’t have much else going on in your personal or professional lives. I’m busy at work, so a month wouldn’t be enough for me and I got a 70%

Hello do you think getting your cma is worth it?
@SaraMarie

I’m sure for some, yes! I’ve always heard it was geared more toward managerial accounting or production which I personally don’t do!

@Kritrina Foster As a CPA who works in Public Accounting, I would advise you to get a CPA (if you have met the education requirements). My firm services a wide variety of entities in different industries. I have yet to come across any CFO, Director of Finance/Accounting, etc. in the field who has a CMA. I would not say getting a CMA is not worth it, but having a CPA opens up more options for you, in my opinion.
