Congratulations Cpl Rushe, you not only helped the little Girl in Afghanistan BUT you have inspired a hell of a lot of children and in my experience there is no greater reward or appreciation, apart from seeing your own Children Born, than that of a Child! and her Father. My Squadron Motto was "Non Solum Nobis" roughly translated as "Not by/for Ourselves Alone"

After cuddling his mum and fiancée, and before taking his award, he should have walked over to Beharry and saluted him.

WRONG - every one from General down has to salute Beharry, because Beharry wears the Victoria Cross. Both Beharry and Rushe were in unifrom, Beharry in dress uniform with medals, so Rushe could have and should have saluted him.
