I’m so glad you made this video. I have the same set up that you do with the toms aqua lifter this morning my tank was filled to the top . My toms had quit working so I replaced the flanges and it still it wouldn’t wouldn’t work. Than I remembered seeing your video a couple of years ago on setting it up and the maintenance information thanks to your info it’s up and running again. Thank you ever so much

I use black tubing, no issues with algae build up in the tube; I do use the same inline filter.

So what happens if the siphon breaks, the overflow isnt operating but the return pump is? CATASTROPHE

Thank you, we received a beautiful salt water aquarium and sump/overflow set up and had no idea how it all went together. With your videos I feel confident now to get it all going! QUESTION: If the siphon on the overflow fails, is there any risk of the sump still pumping water through the output hose into the tank, and overflowing the tank?

How about a video on your mod to the overflow drain. Was that to reduce noise? Curious why you used an elbow joint and not a u to make it a durso drain.

YES, this will happen. It will pump until the water level in the sump is LESS than the intake of your pump. Make sense? You need to actually TEST this while you are HOME. Be ready to restart the siphon. I would start with the water level in the sump as just a bit above the pump intake. Then stop the siphon and watch the water level. Be ready to TURN THE PUMP OFF :) You will find a spot where the level in the sump is too high and you need to keep it LOWER than that point. Good luck

Why not draw filtered water from the sump below to the aqualifter instead?

Do not buy this. I've had 2 then the lifter fails your house floods.
