I think CPSP should now work forward to get their fellowships recognised paving way for specialist registration. TBH, we are not moving forward from exchange programs. Doctors are good sources of foreign remittances. CPSP should expedite the process, work with Irish Medical Council, General Medical Council, Australian Medical Council and Canadian Medical Councils for getting recognition. Cpsp fellows are not less than any of the local graduates and post-graduates. You can double or triple the revenue and hence remittances by elevating Pakistani doctors to consultant positions. Sadly I can’t see any work being done in this regard. Cpsp governing body should persuade these foreign councils and fulfil their criteria for the acceptable post-graduate training. Many of Pakistani doctor working in west needs to dump their FCPS degrees after getting it coz they have no worth in the West which is a Sad story.
Thanks for feedback and we respect the advice;Currently main focus on Ireland and uk as there is mutual respect and collaboration through these schemes’ we are working on other countries/bodies too. But important is without compromising self respect as we believe cpsp is not a requestee we collaborate those who have mutual respect as we are proud of our fellows’ and we want their respect and we are trying for same but joint efforts are important and we are also grateful to our drs already working there and proving to be an asset for us and country’ in family medicine we are in touch with Australians royal colleges’
@@khalidm.gondal4761 Sir, I think it’s mutual respect that these countries are preferring Pakistani doctors. But honestly, Pakistan should not be a cheap labour market for the west. Some Asian Countries as well as Western Countries especially European Countries do recognise their post-graduate training for the specialist pathway registration. That at least somehow gives them an edge for applying for future consultant positions and avoid doing residency again. My point is if your governing body should bring into their knowledge via a comprehensive presentations and meetings that your training program as at par with the standard curriculum of respective royal colleges and meets the international standards of post-graduate medical education, I am confident no one will deny that. It’s totally a beyond understanding that these countries offer exchange programs, our Residents get enrolled in their respective royal colleges and despite that at the end they don’t recognise their own training being provided during exchange program for higher specialty/post-graduate training. I think this is also a matter of mutual respect that these respective colleges should recognise their corresponding post-graduate qualifications. Cpsp should aim for it, it’s going to benefit a lot of doctors abroad.
