CR-V Gen 4 & 3 Rear door Trunk Handle Switch Problem and Repair 

CRV Gen 4 and 3
Problem:
1. The rear door warning light will intermittently turn on the dashboard.
2. The Trunk or rear door is always open.
3. A slight tap on the rear door will trigger the rear door unlock.
4. Bumpy roads will trigger the rear door unlock.
Root cause:
1. The trunk or rear door handle switch is defective.
2. The main switch button is loose causing intermittent triggering.
Repair and cost:
1. Disassemble the trunk to access the handle switch (Refer to the service manual).
2. Switch button can be found in any electronic shop or online. Cost me USD 0.26.
3. The original Honda Handle switch assembly cost around USD48, which saved me USD 47.74.
Note: I was not able to take complete photos and video of the disassembly, soldering, and repair process as this is a quick repair from the owner. Sharing whatever I have to help others save on the repair cost.
