Excellent! I asked Honda if they ever hear of these pieces just falling off! They said they haven’t…then I found your video. Here I thought someone was just being a vandal and came by and ripped it off. I am very glad to see how to replace it! Thx!
Mine blew off 2 days ago at 65 mph on the Kennedy outside Chicago. I didn't smash it, I didn't abuse it, I didn't get in a wreck. It just straight-up blew off my car, causing the poor drivers behind me to dodge random chrome shrapnel, and probably curse. Definitely a flaw or faulty clips of some sort. This was super helpful! A+.
Someone broke and stole the upper chrome trim from my 2014 CR-V. The replacement piece just arrived so I'll be doing this soon. Thanks for saving me lots of time and energy.
I thought the exact same thing. I thought "why would anyone want to break and steal my chrome trim?" I asked Honda if they ever hear of these just falling off. I think the cause is dropping the hood. Its the only thing I can think of for my car.
I changed my upper chrome without removal of the grill.. but this did help me because I needed to replace my light fixtures with grill first. Thank you for the information.
I did the replacement today your instructions were perfect. A hour for the whole job! with no issues thank you very much for this post... BTW I have heard car washes rip the to one off regularly. That's where mine went,
Interesting, and I heard that possibility somewhere too, though I have never been through a car wash with my 14 CR-V. I think for me it must have been dropping the hood too hard...though I never saw it fall off. I thought it was vandalism until I found this video and thread.
My dad just hit a deer today and the grill was the only thing that broke. Watching this means that I can buy a new one and replace it for $70 instead of paying a shop. Thank you so much.
We watched a different RU-vidr and we weren’t getting anywhere with his instructions. THANK GOODNESS we found your site and we were able to replace our missing grill!! You do an excellent video instruction! Thanks again for this video!!!
Much appreciated video! I had watched someone else’s video that made me think I could do it with few issues, but they left some gaps that I couldn’t figure out. Did another search and I’m so glad I came across yours (wish I had seen it first - I’m real lucky I didn’t break some plastic parts the first round). You are appreciated, sir.
Thank you, very helpful. My upper trim just fell off in the parking lot at work. They certainly don't build them like they should... nothing but plastic junk!
I just did this today. Man, it was a pain in the butt. It was so hard to get the bottom clips done. I kept trying and once I got the grille off I realized that 3 out of the four clips are now broken! I got it all fixed and put it back on and seems to be ok. I guess if I see an issue I can take it off again and buy replacement clips. Video made it look so easy lol. I do appreciate the video as I would not even have known where to start.
Great explanation!. I had the official Honda instructions printed and they are not clear how to reach those bottom 4 clips or those two in the upper corners with the LOOOONG screwdriver. You can't see any of them until removal. Thanks for this!
Outstanding!!! I've been putting this job off based on some other videos that ranged from pulling off the whole nose to lots of prying from the top... I finally managed to get the car for a day (just in case something went badly. This was the easiest way to handle this job.
Just watched. Good information. Going to try tomorrow. My wife went through a newly opened car wash. Came home and was happy how the car looked. I showed her the piece missing. We went down and they had it. I may try and fix Or Oder new.
I need to replace the upper chrome piece on my 2014 CR-V front grille because it has a dent in it and I don't like that so I'm going to be ordering a new one of those and replacing it in the very near future.
Just be very careful when trying to get it off the two top black clips, in the upper corners. It’s not really clear here how to get it off those. I had all the yellow clips unhooked, had the upper right black clip unhooked, then as I was trying to get it off the last clip, the upper left black, the grill part that goes into it broke and I ended up having to order an entire new grill! Tried to save a few bucks then ended up spending much more than I would have originally if I had had the shop replace the trim piece!
My top chrome piece was almost falling off my '13 CRV. Three of the 4 chrome clips were broke. Also the screw attachment was broke on one side as well. Instead of buying another, I just epoxied the broken chrome tabs back into the slots black plastic. I hope I didn't accidentally epoxy the entire grill to the car in case I need to do a radiator replacement some day. Seems there's ample distance so I should be ok. This is an excellent video for a radiator replacement. Thanks.
clean your radiator while you have the grill off. watch sweat project cars on you tube for what to use and how to do it. your air conditioner will run cooler.
