I'm just learning but having the extra buoy with poly seems like a terrible idea, as it will get caught in the prop of a boat. The pots are like a mine field outside of Sequim so it is impossible to miss them all.

In regards to Poly & Lead, Cowboys call it Rope and Fishermen call it Line. 🦀

How buoyant are the floats? how much weight can it have before sinking?

Is it possible to cut lead line and burn the end?

Extra buoy on the side is not a good idea. It can easily get caught by Boat props and lower unit.
