Crabgrass is a nasty weed that is difficult to kill. No doubt in my mind that a properly timed pre emergent application is the best and most cost effective method to control crabgrass. I use prodiamine early in the year with great results. How do you control mature crabgrass in the lawn. I am testing 4 top products to see which one works the best. The results were not great but that shows how difficult this weed can be to kill. Learn which products give you the best control and which ones are almost a waste of money on mature crabgrass. I think it is also important to understand which type of crabgrass you are trying to control because some are easier to control than others.

I have had the best of luck with Quinclorac this summer. I have zero crabgrass after a nightmare season last year. It is killing St Augustine beautifully. Spots I have been told I would have to dig it out are gone. I'm a 115lb female and that wasn't happening. BYD and Ron Henry suggested it. Finally it's completely gone and filled in my front yard. I have dead spots that will fill in this fall and next spring. It also has killed my clover even in the heat in my cool season lawn. No damage to the lawn at all. It's been a God send. It has killed every random weed with the exception of nut sedge for me. Thanks great video.

Excellent video Jason. I have one yard that I am experiencing breakthrough like crazy. And it was treated with specticle flo in February! I am shocked. After watching this video, I am gonna hit it with Celsius & Certainty.

What about Celcius Xtra? Can that replace your favourite combo of celcius and certainty?

Not as good IMO. Celsius extra is more like a combination of Celsius and prosedge which is not going to be as good on kyllinga or grassy weeds

With crabgrass the key with large,smooth and southern crabgrass is to be sure you are using the right surfactant. You have to coat the leaves. 90/10 beads up on crabgrass. Drexel 820 or dissolved detergent like gain helps.

Maybe so. I know in the past I've sprayed it without MSO and had good results on a different variety of crabgrass

I'm just a simple at home DIY'r and I greatly thank you for your videos. From my point of view this video begs for answers and a series of followup videos. I know if it was my business and I had the means I would do some further experimenting on this resistant type of crabgrass. One person stated the dew on the leaves could change the effectiveness of the herbacide. 1. That seems like a good deduction as it 'might' dilute the ratio. How much? Who knows. 2. No MSO or NIS of any sort was employed. Would this have changed the outcome? I would LOVE to see you test this using one product or mixture used with a standard MSO, standard NIS, the Duo Stick Select, and the OII-YS Adjuvant. I believe in the instructions (I could be wrong) they want you to adjust the PH for the OII-YS product. 3. No monitoring or adjustment of PH level on any of the products or mixtures used. Would this have changed the results? Some mention PH adjustment of the final spraying solution helps with plant uptake. Some people want 6-7 PH yet I've seen others say as low as 5. Who's right, who's wrong? Test and see what works for you, your water, your product, your area. As always great stuff and waiting for more great videos 👍

@@lawncarelife I've been watching a whole heck of alot lately. I'm really sick of the weeds in my yard and your weed ID videos are tremendously helpful. I just purchased the book Turfgrass Weed Control for Professionals 2023 from Purdue to help with that. I prayed my place with Prodiamine for the first time a couple weeks ago (I'm in OR). I hope I wasn't too late but I know it's not going to get it all and I already have some stuff for winter popping up. The battle continues!

I use baking soda on my crabgrass I have zoysia in my lawn so I do get crabgrass mixed in sometimes that seems to work really good without killing the zoysia

Celsius/Image/MSM works okay, but Drive works best in Florida Panhandle on bermuda and zoysia.

What was your application rate? You should do a series on upping the rate 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x etc., and see how much the lawn can take/weed control results. I typically use more if weeds are mature.

I have a lot of Dallisgrass in my Bermuda turf and I was wondering what is the next step after getting rid of D grass? I have a herbicide that I’m using that will zap it without harming my Bermuda but I haven’t seen a post or video on what happens next. DonI wait until the spring to overseed with some top soil?

I see you speak of Celsius/certainty combo a lot however in Tx we are seeing Celsius xtra replacing the regular Celsius. My question to you is do you think buying Celsius and certainty or going with just one product like Celsius Xtra? Basically they combined a sedge product into Celsius and raised the price.

Celsius Xtra is missing Dicamba in the formulation. Thus it will be less effective on broadleaf weeds vs. the standard Celsius

Sir, I've been watching your videos for a while now. I am also in Alabama. The previous owner of my home had a dog pen in the backyard and allowed it to become overgrown. I have cleared everything now. I have a beautiful Bermuda lawn everywhere except this area. I was thinking of using glyphosate in the winter over everything and then overseeding Bermuda. What do you suggest? Thanks.

I like the glyphosate idea. No need to seed more Bermuda. It should spread on its own with fertilizer next year
