Hell yeah, you found the 56! That Olds is badass...might need to track that one down. Thanks again for the shout out bro! Glad you're back in the business of videos.
Superb castings from Hot Wheels. The '56 Chevy in particular has great details and the spectraflame paint makes it look georgeous. The '57 Olds is just as sweet. All that packaging is probably there to protect the acrylic case from scratches and such. Thanks for the detailed presentation!
It's a real bummer when the packaging ruins the product inside. There has to be a better way to package without using bands to hold moving features. The doors and hood slamming shut would do less damage then a rubber band. Plastic inserts/spacers are really the way to go.
by the way also got 57 olds , but the blue number 43. it was screwed to the display so tightly that tires got damaged un 20 years... barely managed to fix em..
Great video mate. Absolutely stunning blue '56 Chevy. The fine details on the '57 Olds (like the lettering under the driver side window) were incredible. Such a shame about those rubber bands damaging the paint when removed from the hood. Excellent points on the excessive packaging.
That damage caused by the rubber band breaks my heart. What a shame. I just discovered 100% series and have been looking at videos on them two years after this video was posted. I love this car and this livery.
The cosmos olds is wicked, that 100% series is a stage above the regular in every detail. The package could survive a nuclear weapons test but not a jo motor video, power to you man!!
Nice video! To disguise the paint defects from that rubber band and to give it a worn, 1000 mile race look, go over the hood and front fenders with a black wash called 'The Detailer'....also hit the wheels and engine with it.....brings out detail and adds a worn look which you can tailor to your liking. You can also add some scuffs and scratches around the messed up paint area....make it look like it hit tumbleweed and a steer or two at 170 mph!
Two really beautiful cars, I don't care much for cars with racing decals but I really like these two. That being said if I bought either of these two they'd go straight to acetone detampoing and I'd probably mask them off and two tone them.
Really enjoyed your video. This this is a good tip. I've got several unopenned black box cars. I'm going to remove the elastics right away to prevent further damage. There are some videos of Doug Mockett racing his Oldsmobile, Check them out iot realy fast!
Any updates on the rubber band damage, did it come off? Great car, I have a very similar casting of a 57 Olds racing champions, I better check the rubber band (still in box)
I love this series of hot wheels pretty much the only ones that I collect I've been actually building the collection for my son when he gets older and appreciates it he can have them
I have one 57 olds in a mint condition, never open and the case is sign by Dough Mocket and Angie Fuentes. I want to sell it. Can you tell me how much can i ask for it?.
