Love your work Dom we fished today in Coromandel New Zealand with Berkley Gulp softbaits. We used a daiwa certate 3000 with 15lb braid, and a penn slammer 2500 with a Daiwa td black rod, 15lb braid. 20 lb fluorocarbon leader. I used a 3/8oz Berkley nitro jighead. We caught 14 snapper between 35 and 52cm ( measured to the v in the tail) so 41 to 58cm your method to the fork. We were in the water at 9am at waikawau, fished the mussel farms for 1 hour 10 minutes. Excellent fishing in an amazingly productive fishery. Don't usually keep my limit, but it's been 3 weeks because of weather. I have to tell you, we use one rod and reel set each, and move it and concentrate on it. Glad you followed my advice and got a Berkley catch and release net. They're excellent
Mouth watering mate. Wow! Beautiful sunrise. You need to get Billy back out there for the dark mornings mate. Might make you feel safer. Well done. You sure do put on a good show 🍻
Fantastic fishing Dom , you respect the fishery that provides so much pleasure ! Well done looking forward to your next adventure . Keep safe out there. Cheers Geoff 🎣🐟
I'm no expert but have always found the single hook, half mulie works 10x better than soft plastics do out in that area you fish. The soft plastics seem to catch lots of Pike though! Great to see you catching heaps Dom!
Good stuff Dom, thanks for sharing. I have not been down the marina for about two mths. Hope my boat is still floating. I do not do Cold so it might be another couple of mths yet. Cheers.........
Haha..yeah better check the boat mate. It's been freezing out there but very worth while...I prefer these days with cloud a bit of rain...no other boats aswell😁👍
Hey Dom you sure were amongst the big boys today 👍👍 Wouldn't it be just as spectacular a 'flare-up' by using a litre of petrol instead of bourbon? Certainly cheaper lol
Solid session Dom getting those snapper sorted ✅✅ an man that cook up got me starving sat here stomach rumbling haha!! Let’s see if you can score another solid snapper sesh before the closures!? 😎
Absolutely magnificent fish and cook up….Dom, have you ever fished with “circle hooks”….I use them when surf fishing and a high percentage of the time the fish are hooked in the corner of the jaw which aids in the release. The most difficult part of fishing with circle hooks is “not striking” and allow the fish to load up the rod and hook themselves. Different experience for sure but well worth it. Just a thought Dom as I would never ever suggest to tell you how to fish.
Thanks alot Mark! Yes great Idea with circles..have used them many times, may have to buy some more..and mate the tips are very welcommimg from my end👍👍🍻
