Cradle Song , by J.S. Skinner
This was composed (in 1888) by the great Scots fiddle-composer , J. Scott Skinner (1843-1927).
This is an arrangement for guitar by my brother Ian Thomson (1941-2015).
Ian’s original arrangement did not have a repeat. However other players on different instruments did seem to have a repeat added. So I have added a repeat with a slightly different final bar, and a ritardando for the last two bars on repeat.
Coincidently, the Scottish guitarist Matthew McAllister has recorded this piece on his RU-vid channel 'Gallery of Guitar', and has added a repeat. I recommend viewing this as Matthew’s musical interpretation adds so much beauty and melody to the piece. Definitely a recording to try and emulate!
