Thank you for sharing - it's impossible for most crafty people to craft, have fun and stay anywhere near "tidy". People who don't pursue creative activities can never understand the amount and variety of products and equipment "needed" to work. Junk Journaling makes it "worse" as everything is a potential source of inspiration - but my gosh, it is so much fun!!! It has literally taken me over 40 years to get anywhere near sorted and that means using every room in the house - LOL!!! Then my table constantly looks like yours and I love it.
@shabbydabbydoodah

Nice room - thank you for sharing! Compared to my craft room it is tidy!! I have no excuse as I have a really big attic room all to myself, but it is always a terrible mess. When I tidy up I can never find anything. Also, I hate tidying up :( I am pretty sure I could manage to fill the whole house without much difficulty. Our house was built in 1905 as a drapers shop in a village, so I think fabric, lace, etc... are quite at home here! Have a lovely Sunday! xx

I have previously commented here, but I wanted to say that I think that it is WONDERFUL that so many of you have your crafting area in your family room and areas where you can craft while spending time with your families. I live alone and now regret the time I could have spent with my family while crafting. Two ideas for anyone interested....1). You can leave your vacuum out so if someone comes by, they will think you were cleaning...lol😂, or 2) You could set out some “Get Well” cards so that people will think that you have been sick and couldn’t clean....lol😂. I personally think you should be PROUD of your areas and PROUDLY declare that you get to spend time with your family.

Oooh I can relate to this. Thank for showing us that others are working in limited space and mess too, it makes me feel better as I look at my own mess. My craft space is my dining table and I must admit it's literally packed with my ongoing project AND all the bits and pieces I should've put away somewhere and probably never find again until I stumble across them by accident while looking for something completely different :)

Great room tour! I love your whole room and your great workspace. I see lots and lots of organization there. I found if I put things away in cupboards I forget to use it so I understand leaving it out helps get it used, I do the same. I DO NOT see a huge mess and your desk is perfect, you are a true artist! Do not let anyone shame you, do what works best for you. I love that now I can picture you at work and feel like we are all working along together. I love it all and I see some brilliant storage ideas I plan to use too… like the coin pockets for the small kits pieces you cut out. I have some plastic photo and collector card holder pieces that might work for me, so smart of you to come up with that! Enjoy your space… no more apologizing for a messy space, work with pride and contentment. Hugs, Laurette 💖🌸💖

Tina... I love your area!! It is so like mine! I’m actually a fairly tidy person... in the other areas of the house... my craft area? Just like yours!!! If I organize... can’t find a thing! And within minutes it looks like I had never touched it! And if I sit to a tidy desk? My mind is entirely blank! If I sit to my “mess” I just start pulling papers and off I go! Drives my DIL nuts when she is over, I know, but I love it! I put it down to bring creative! Thank you so much for sharing!! And your son’s journal was gorgeous!!❤️
@shabbydabbydoodah
@shabbydabbydoodah 4 года назад
Oh I’m exactly the same, pretty tidy elsewhere, but not a chance with my crafting area. Also exactly like you, if I ever have tidied up, it just halts any chance of creativity. Tina, you have zero reason to be embarrassed. I think most if not all crafters have the same look and feel. My space is bigger, but I have my sewing area, art area, and misc crafts. So I have a bigger area for a mess. Mine was a spare bedroom that I now call my playroom. At the end of the day I can close the door on it. I am protective of my junk, so if anyone comes to visit, it’s “hands off”. Lol 😂 yes we all hoard stuff and protect even our junk. 😁. Thanks for being brave enough to share and we LOVE your work and videos....please keep them coming.

For all the creativity that comes out of all this in your room, you cannot be faulted for the state of how your creativity makes complete sense of all this. It is what it is. Better to have all your creative energy at full force emanating from this room, than a perfectly ordered room that has no life in it. Onwards, soldier on, because your creativity is worthy. :-)

I loved the tour! It’s nice to see a craft area look like a craft area! When I’m creating my desk, floor and any surfaces near by get out of control, but I always know where that certain item is that I’m looking for. Organized chaos is what I call it. After a project I tidy up to begin the next mess😊. Loved your son’s and daughter’s journals!

Thank you for being real, Tina. You make crafting so much more accessible to people in lots of ways This is another of those ways. So many of us see those perfect "showroom" crafting areas and wonder, "why doesn't my crafting space look like that?" and end up feeling like a failure I can't speak for anyone else, but I know I have spent too much time and money trying to get my space to look perfect when I should have been creating instead. Seeing your room makes me realise that we're all human and it's ok for your space not to be perfectly organised and colour coordinated! :-) You keep filming and we'll keep watching. I have heaps of things squirrelled away so every now and then I take a box/ stack of them and make myself use them for a week or so. Totally! I hate that we are always made to feel bad for having a stash and it not looking like it's in a magazine. Life isn't like that and I get inspired by seeing what I've got. I do drive myself nuts when I dont tidy my work space up while I'm working but that's just because I dont have space to actually work. I've got YEARS of stuff in the house. It doesn't go off. I kept all my card making stuff (I made cards for Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine) and hadn't used it for years as well as stamps coming out of my ears : now that I've discovered Junk Journaling I have rekindled my love of papercraft so my 'rubbish' is now useful again.

I began cardmaking 29 years ago. & didn’t begin buying (mainly) Stampin up products until 7 years ago. Therefore, I have drawers & drawers full of bulky wood-mounted stamps & punches. My craft area is in my unfinished basement, it has naked concrete walls & floor that form the foundation of our house. I’ve got 2 huge shelving units full of cardstock & DSP, 2 big old dressers and 10 3-drawer plastic bin not to mention two 6’ tables that are full on top AND underneath, 2 plastic hanging shoe organizer things with pockets just to name SOME of the stuff. I am soooo happy to see I’m not the only one who is disorganized. I chuckle at people who have their paper scraps in big 2-gallon baggies. I have 3 sets of wire mesh frames with 6 drawers in each that house scraps by color, I save 95% of my scraps, never know when that 1/2”x2” piece of scrap is big enough for you to cut out a sentiment, lol. TTLY love your videos, great ideas, thoroughly entertaining & informative. Keep them coming. Big hugs. Denise Streitman, Hellertown, PA, USA

Have you asked for help. If I lived near you,I would help. I've done it for others and quite enjoy it. We can't all be good at everything.I could learn much from your creative activity. Maybe you have a subbie or two happy to help.Two hintsbBuy big black bags and ruthlessly put away everything you won't use in the nex⁰t 3 months.Dont toss it though. Keep it in less precious space.Label them well. Whatever you haven't dug out after one year toss it or donate it,maybe your hubby could do that part Do not go through it again. And two, only buy clear containers in future so you can see what you have.Good luck.

Ahhh, a truly creative mind lives here. Now I know why you put things under your leg. I admire your courage in showing your space to the world. You're more organized than you think - you could at least tell us what was where. When the thought of all the unused, unloved tools and things becomes a burden, that's the time to sell or donate. Perhaps, by showing this, a few someones will show an interest in taking some of these things off your hands, saving you the trouble of finding them new homes. To be honest, I work at a desk almost identical to yours, with about as much room to create, since my computer sits at the back of my desktop and at least one cat is always to my left on the little bed I have set up for them. The really sad part is that I have an entire room I could work in but I just feel best sitting here. Might need to address that at some point. Thanks for opening your kimono, as it were. I love seeing where people create and now I feel as if I know you a little better. If I lived close by, I would ring you up and say, clear a day when we can blitz through your space and make some sense of what should stay or go. I won't interfere with your piles and stashes of the things you love; you can keep all those. Afterwards, I'll take you out for dinner and a cocktail, perhaps not in that order, to celebrate bringing some measure of order out of the chaos with the understanding that it is only temporary, as a messy craft space is the lot of the creative soul. Carry on, friend. ~ Lisa

I LOVE THIS. I find that desk pile THRILLING! At the end of the day it doesn't matter what it looks like because what comes out of it is beautiful and inspires thousands of people. I have stash from over 20 years ago. I came from Cardmaking like you (I made cards for Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine and Simply Cards and Papercraft) and I have tons left over from those days. I have a shit ton of stuff:It doesn't go off 😅. I've kept all my stamps etc since those days which now that I've started JJ I can use again (btw you can use those brads: nail polish them and even add glitter to the wet polish for some bling 😉) This kind of video is a relief to most of us that work like this too ( which I'd say is 90% of us)

I'm single and I live with my brother and his wife, so my bedroom is also my craft room. The whole room is piled high! My sister-in-law doesn't craft, so she is horrified, LOL. I have small craft studio, but i have MS so it is hard for me to get around. My brother tries so hard to run interference for me. He doesn't like me going to the studio without him, so I don't get out there very often, it's a mess too.It's nice to know other crafters have a mess too.

I have rheumatoid arthritis, which is also an autoimmune disease like MS, and 78 known others -- I can no longer work -- the first week was glory; I went to bed late, slept late; finally got caught up on my sleep, and then day 8 I was bored outta my mind. I have just come to crafting in the past few years, and paper crafting in the past few months -- and boy, do I love it -- some days I am a literal prisoner of my bed, but, I can craft in bed -- right now it's raining, which I'm so thankful, we went 2 months without rain, but the low pressure system is pushing against my joints and there aren't enough pain meds in the world to fix it -- so I flipped on youtube, found Tina's great video -- man, do I wish I were her friend, but I wouldn't be for long because I'd just wanna come over and craft all the time -- ha -- I don't know enough about MS, but part of RA is total exhaustion -- sometimes I'm too tired to breathe -- but then, I get a little inspiration from crafting -- I'll fussy cut stuff -- my computer is in my bedroom, so I can print, cruise pinterest -- hang in there -- I know how it feels about living with family. My son is 28 and will not leave me -- I've threatened to run away from home; have him removed from the lease; pleaded w/ him to go and have his own life -- and he refuses. I was always a single mother. His father was never part of his life, and my mother, my last living relative, died when he was five, so it's always been just he and I -- he tells me, you took care of me, now I'm taking care of you -- but I understand the guilt you must feel about "having" to live with your brother -- well, don't. He obviously loves you and wants you there -- and your sister-in-law needs to start to craft -- ha -- take care -- keep crafting !!! Big hugs, P

@@patriciabrightwell196 i know the pain of RA too . Its been an ajustment for me over the years, thank goodness i found journaling !! I love to create when i am feeling up to it, when i am not i watch tons of crafting videos, it keeps me out of the depths of severe depression, which i battle with all the time. anyway. I believe we are all Crafty Sisters❤❤❤❤
@patriciabrightwell196
@patriciabrightwell196 5 лет назад
@@robinmckenzie4142 I'm extremely fortunate to have extraordinary health care -- my pcp works with me and she changed my meds -- I was diagnosed almost by accident -- well, I guess literally by accident -- because I should be dead; they're still not sure why I'm alive -- my house caught on fire and the room I was in exploded -- so I have both post traumatic stress disorder, and pT anxiety disorder, and a brain injury from lack of oxygen to my brain. She did a lot of research on RA and my health and she says with this condition, you have both organic and situational depression -- so she changed my meds to instead of one at night, I take it throughout the day - and that has helped -- also I've quit trying to justify that some days I can barely move, much less do anything -- one reason why the RU-vid crafting community is so special and why I'm so appreciative to everyone who puts up videos, because they are not easy to do -- and have to deal with negativity; what's the point of that? Plus, right now, we have kittens -- I had unexpected surgery -- my feet are held together with rods, and one of the screws popped out, and we missed my cat's spay appt.; she went in heat, got out and now we have four kittens, whom we should have given away, but I was too attached -- and now I laugh all the time -- but now I have to get all five them spayed/neutered, etc. -- it's going to cost over $500, so I'm working on my first journal -- I'm almost done -- I had a little craft channel, but then had another surgery (I've had 10 surgeries on my feet; without which I would not be walking; I am so grateful -- it's been the same surgeon since 2005 -- and it was in pre-op for the first surgery that a nurse who had just attended a seminar on RA started asking me all these questions, and she told me -- I think you have RA -- and they think I had it as a juvenile, which answers so many questions) -- anyway, I haven't posted in 2 years -- I'm dreading it like you wouldn't believe -- but I finished the journals yesterday and today I just have to make the covers and make the videos, which I am dreading because I am vain -- ha -- sad, but true -- my vocal chords were permanently damaged in the fire and I sound like Marge Simpson's sisters who chain smoke -- ha -- but I was both pleased and shocked at how great they turned out -- downloadable digis are amazing -- and one of the first ones I ever bought was Tina's tick tock -- I love it to pieces, and it features throughout the journals -- there are six -- I made a planner, a memory book, and a 2 signature journal -- shew -- but boy, was it fun !! Be well -- talk to your doctor about adjusting your anti-depressant -- again, I had been on a 20 mg. citalopram at night and she changed it to 10 mgs. 3 xs a day, plus buspirine (sp) for anxiety -- which helps me to think rationally first and then panic -- for ex: it has finally turned colder from being near 100 F -- 37 C -- 10 days ago -- and people are beginning to use their fireplaces at home -- so I smell smoke, and before I would panic and think, Lord, the house is on fire -- now it gives me enough time to think -- no, it's coming from outside and the neighbor's chimney -- honestly, take care -- my little craft channel is 3rscrafting -- it's my plan to address RA and crafts you can do literally in bed -- remember, you are not alone in how you feel both mentally and physically -- and every time you share your story with another, you ease your own burden -- be strong, God bless -- Patricia

Wow! I love your space with all your goodies. I, too, work in a tiny space. And I, too, need to have everything out for the visual stimulation. I haven’t read any other comments so I don’t know if others have suggested this but I am in the middle of gathering my card making supplies. I am going to keep a small amount in a box and then I am going to find another space to store the rest. I don’t want to get rid of all of it because, well, I don’t want to. Also, the “iffy” items, or things like felt or jewelry making items I am putting in labeled containers that will be behind cupboard doors. If I don’t see it, I don’t use it, but I know I have felt and I know I have beads so I want to make it easier to find them without making a mess. I have come to the conclusion that my desk and immediate areas will always have piles of stuff. But that is okay. It is how I work, create and be inspired. Thanks for sharing.

I love this mess. I have watched all your Tidy Friday series and you've completely organized a lot. You are a very busy crafter and when you put out as many videos as you do this is what most of us would end up with. A clean perfect craft room means probably no creative work is being done, or their very OCD about cleaning up after every project. I realize this video is A year old. I would love to see another tour with all your decluttering, and Tidy Friday in place. Hugs, Diana.

Don't you dare be embarrassed! You can see that its a well used space. If everything is always neat and tidy that means you're not using it very often. I love it, at the same time I can sympathize too lol. I'm surrounded by piles because I work on stuff while I'm doing my regular full time job working from home in the fraud department for a bank. I've got even less workable space than you do because I've got a computer, 2 monitors, keyboard and mouse on my desk. I have an "official" craft table with loads of space to work but I'm sitting here 8 hrs a day 5 days a week so my stuff has migrated to my living room. Hugs from Tennessee :)
