Hi Maggie, I am in love with this project. My hubby found a roll of thin copper sheeting at a yard sale. It's so fun to run it through the cutting machine, then emboss it. I then soak it in miracle gro, and it creates the most awesome patina. I really love everything you do. Darn you, I put those tag / labels in my cart. You're very dangerous to watch. Thank you so much for your most excellent/inspiring videos. You're my favorite RU-vid creator. Hugs, Diana.❤
Hi Diana, you are so sweet. Thank you so much. I love your idea of putting the sheets in that solution. Sounds fun! I wonder if this will work on the aluminum tape. Although others have said the same thing about me being dangerous to wallets….I consider it a good thing. That you enjoy my project so much to want to replicate it. Such a huge compliment. Thanks so much for watching Diana!
@SunsetCrafts It won't work on aluminum. I think it might work on copper tape. The secret is to emboss, so the solution gets in the nooks and crannies. I wish I could show you my rust technique. I love grunge so much. I ordered those label dies and the aluminum tape. I really want to send you some goodies from my stash. It will be grungy steampunk themed. If that's OK with you send me your address. ❤️ 💙
I would love to see your technique to rust. I’m still learning so any tips and tricks you can give would be appreciated. I would love to have some of your goodies. Email me so we can talk.
oh my goodness!!! This is such an amazing idea!!! I have all the ingredients for this awesome recipe of crafty goodness, I'm so excited by this technique and can't wait to try it! I want to tackle making some steampunk journals and now I can make my own "metal" embellishments! GREAT IDEA! Thanks so very much for sharing!
Im squealing here, Maggie. Im only just over 5 minutes into the video, and I realise that ive actually got the inks, the tape AND the side kick. Also the metal stamps from years ago! Woo hoo..... Im definatley going to be able to follow along with this one. I followed your link from todays video with the hidden paperclips, which Im half way through by the way.. omgosh, you've inspired me, no end, after 3 years of being 'away' from craft. This is just too exciting. Thanks, lovely, for everything. Your my guru x
You are definitely the sweetest Lorraine. I’m so glad you are wanting to recreate this project and that you have all the supplies you need to get started. Thank you so much for always watching
Maggie, this is so cute, and what a great tutorial. You "may" not be the originator of this project but girl you are a master at facilitating all of us to learn the techniques at a level where any level crafter would enjoy learning! Thank you!
These are wonderful! I really liked how you showed the different techniques so that we can see how each one works and what the end result looks like! Thanks for sharing!
Cool & fun video. Art is not created by any one person. We can all get out our supplies and try something new to is, whether someone else has ever done it before or not. You did a great job & it was fun to see you playing.
I’m so glad you’re doing these! I am drawn to steam punk and just now attempting them. I need more masculine cards and find these to be so unique! You’re so talented and I love your tutorials.
Hello again, Maggie. I found a video by Crafty by Toni. She does a bunch of these labels and tags. Thought you might want to watch it when you have time.
We, again, must be on the same wavelength. I just used my 3-D texture fades typewriter folder this week, and made a cool project. I even filmed it for my RU-vid channel, ha ha. I should be posting it tomorrow. I finally started my real crafting journey. Hope I can stick with it. ❤📖
This is such a great technique! I don’t have any aluminum tape but I bet you could get the same effect by gluing some aluminum foil down with the shiny side up. I’m definitely gonna try it ⚙️
Wow, these are great, thank you for sharing. Perfect for the antique/grunge look for our tags and cards. I have the silver paper so I have a start, just need the tape, I've been in the hardware 4 times and forget it every single time. Just not something I think about I guess! Fun project.
Miss Maggie these look so awesome. Very real steampunkie. I like them. Thank you for the great ideas. Love it. Thank you for sharing and God bless you and your family. 🥰💖💖💖💖💖👍👍👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟(🌹🐞🦂🌵)
You can put a mark on the tiles to indicate the right direction of the letters and numbers. 😊just a thought On the gesso and my bottles i normally put plastic on them. Like a baggie sandwich baggie. I cut them split it open and use one side. It seals the air out and last longer. Keeps the air out that would cause it to dry up quicker.
Another fab video! Really fun ideas for so many different ways to grunge up those die cuts. I watch Tim Holtz and he shares so many ways to put various patinas on things but then when I go to try it I forget what he said….lol. His one technique uses black soot distress paint and because it’s very fluid it works good on some of the 3D embossing folders when you are using his silver or gold on kraft card stock to emboss on. I think the technique was to put that paint on and leave it for just a bit and then wipe off with a wet one and the paint stays in the crevices. If you don’t wipe it off soon enough it’s paint ya know so then it doesn’t work….lol. I really like how you shared three ways so everyone can try the ones they like or have the supplies for…really cool. Your metal dies to engrave the tags was a fab idea. I need to try that since my daughter gave me some of those letters. I can’t wait to see what you use these on…great video!! 😊
This technique is so cool! I've never seen it before. What's so great about it? I just got those dies a few days ago and hadn't thought what to do yet, and now I do! Thank you for sharing. I see you have an Amazon store front. Have you thought about putting those metal numbers and letters there? You should! I'm very excited and thank you for the motivation and inspiration!
Hi Joyce, I’m glad I was able to share something new for you to try. About the metal numbers and letters? Are you talking about the metal stamps? If that’s the case, they are on my storefront. :) Thanks for watching
This is soooo freakin' awesome!! The alcohol reinkers used, are there stamp pads to go with them? I'm new to this distressing stuff & I always buy stamp pads & reinkers. Thanks so much for sharing you're awesome & have a great week ✨️☺️❣️🥰🌺❣️✨️
Ohhhhhhh so pretty ....😍😍 yes yes you should check out Crafty by Toni .... here in the UK she did this last year the same thing ....almost identical 🙌🙌🙌 gorgeous work
Hi Friend, sorry it’s taking me a minute to respond to comments. It’s been pretty busy over here. But I’m glad you liked this project. Thanks for always watching
Your creations are wonderful!!! I am just distraught that the Sidekick won't work with those Typewriter embossing folders, even if you cut them down as they are too thick 😭😭😭😭😭😭
