Hello from Newfoundland and Labrador Canada! I just traded in my Moog Sub Harmonicon for the Modwave. This is the second video I have seen on operating and diving into the sauce of the Modwave! 14 mins in and my mind is blown on what this thing can do! Thanks for creating this video!

your video perfectly illustrates how a glassy and crispy sound can move into loooong and etheral ambient sound... adding modulations, effects, enveloppes.... Korg Modwave's limit in infinity.. in particular when someone like you is using it! big contrats and many thanks for this really useful tuto!

Thanks for this tutorial, i finally have all 3, Wavestate, Modwave and Opsix!! They are Powerhouse synths. So much you can do with them, too bad Korg discontinued Opsix and Modwave such a shame. VST is cool and all but for inspiration and having tons of fun the hardware is a must.

They came out with a new version of opsix and the modwave is getting a second version the mk2

This is great material for educational purposes. I’ve been interested in this synth specifically for its wavetable features. Currently I have a 20+ year old Access Virus B rack synth which I adore. However learning to build patches on it is a slow process due to the menu diving and limitations on DAW connectivity. I’m thinking of shifting over to the Korg Modwave since the layout of the controls and overall design is more current. One thing that would be helpful (maybe you’ve already done this) is slow down some of the operations and menu selections and explain in more detail how various controls are shaping the sound. Overall though I really enjoy watching the patch building process. 🎹👍

I absolutely love these kinds of videos. I don't have one, but I find this stuff endlessly inspiring and also relaxing to throw on in the background. I'll never say no to patch from scratch stuff.

Bravo ! 🙂 Gredat video on the creation of a patch with the Korg Modwave. By the way, there is no fixed limit on the total number of modulation routings on the Modwave, to my knowledge,...

Nice patch 👍. This video reminds me that I was going to dip my toe into wavetables on my MicroFreak and make up my mind if the Modwave is on or off my wishlist.

Nice patch took a while ha ha! Would love this synth in a higher quality Key bed with Poly aftertouch and 49 keys.

Modwave's feature set reminds me of the Prophet X... but Korg-flavored.
@TeftyMeems
@TeftyMeems 2 года назад
Never tried a Prophet X before, but if it's like the Modwave then it's COMPLEX 🤣
@matienazemy1382
@matienazemy1382 Год назад
This thing sounds huge! I’m still doubting whether to go for the Modwave or the Minilogue XD….. but the complexity of the Modwave really makes up for the sounds it can produce. Which of the two would you recommend for someone who’s into making soft pads but also dark and industrial patches?
@TeftyMeems
@TeftyMeems Год назад
Soft pads plus industrial patches ... Modwave seems perfect for you. But in all honesty, either one could do the job. The Minilogue XD has a character to it. It's partly the analog nature, but it's also the "vibe". The Modwave is INCREDIBLY flexible, but also very bland initially. So you have to program character into each patch. Luckily it has no limit for modulation assignments. If possible, try 'em out and keep the one you like the most 👍

Is it possible to use pulse width modulation? I read the manual, but there’s no mention of it?

Nice programming session. I just picked up MSoundFactory and it does VA, FM, Modeling, WT, additive, and sampling....have you ever used it?

@@TeftyMeems Sounds really good. You can come up with some really cool sounds for samples...Also "Commercial software is available as fully-functional 15-day trials." And Melda provides free updates for life. Right now, it is on sale for 50% off...

I wonder 💭 how ya feel about the coming korg drumlogue. Modwave sounds good to me.

Being brutally honest ... not super impressed with what I've seen on it so far. I love drum machines and if I had a chance to play with it I'd give it a go, but I'm not keen on scooping one anytime soon.

@@SonicVibe some of the reviewers got decent sounds out of it but it looks like it has to be coaxed into it rather than relying on the basic sounds. For me the question is mojo - would it inspire me to create?

@@unclemick-synths it sounded really flat and not punchy to me I like the look and all being a hybrid machine, but 32 mb sample time and one user sdk slot and no sd card it just seems like why Roland 🤦‍♂️.

Any chance you can tell me you route to recording? Are you using both L\R mono outs? Then to a Y / TRS to the interface or? Just ordered mine and not sure how I'll connect it. (First hardware Synth for me) Love the design process. Going to follow along when I get mine Appreciate it!
@TeftyMeems
@TeftyMeems Год назад
Hi Danny, I use a pro audio interface so each of the outputs are sent to individual inputs on my audio interface (input 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 etc etc). If you only have a single 1/8" TRS input on your laptop, then yes you'll need a dual 1/4" TS to 1/8" TRS Y adapter cable. Be forewarned, though, that recording into sound cards that aren't designed for pro audio can introduce extra noise and latency into the signal when using a DAW like Ableton, Garageband, etc. Good luck! It's a fun synth 🙌

@dannymolns3573 Год назад
@@TeftyMeems thank you for the fast response. I have a Scarlett 2i2 so I will just hook up two TRS from the Modwave outs (L/R) I to channel 1/2 inputs on my Scarlett. Does that sound correct? Appreciate you replying!!

That's a really nice sounding synth with some work. I have a Hydrasynth which has a lot of the same characteristics. It can sound warm and rich, but it takes work to get there. I want a Modwave but I kind of doubt I need one. Is it ever about need though?? I also wonder if there's anyone making fatar-like, maybe aftertouch keyboards that you could get and tear out the shitty Korg keyboard. Anyway, another great video as always. Cheers!

I only have one question: why does Korg insist on putting such wonderful synths in such god awful cheap hardware? That keybed would give an 80s flee market Casio a boost in self esteem.

Because mfs are cheap. The second you make it nice it’ll cost money and then everyone comes out of the woodwork to villainize the brand.

They should ship those things with analog filters too set it apart from a VST, what it basically is.
