Crafting in The War Within Frustrates Me... 

I’m having fun with this game but “how would you know what to do without a handbook” is how I feel at every turn.

The system is complex, but its good. One thing they should change is to allow minimum quality on public orders, since q5 is not rng in TWW.

Finally a normal wow content creator that says normal things about this crafting system.

A simple Skyrim Riverwood “do you need any help around the forge?” style quest would have solved all of this.

The enchanted crest part is complete bullshit. The crafting order system itself though needs to be just folded into the AH so you can immediately fill the mats from the AH.

It kinda seemed like the reason the order weren’t getting filled was because the tip wasn’t high enough lol

Guide 1 Find item you want + Add-ons 2 Find crafter in trade 3 Ask them what quality mats you need to send for a rank 5 of the item + add-ons you put on the item ( And if they charge for it) 4 Buy items from AH 5 send em away to your new bestfriend with the order system NPC 6 Check your mailbox

I’m 41 and I figured it out in DF without a lot of issue. You may not enjoy it now but once you do understand the system, it’s 100x the old system.

Crafting, and making money crafting is now considered an "end game" way to play the game. They wanted to make it complex so that people that don't enjoy "raiding/dungeon/delves" they can spend time researching all the intricacies of the system. If you can wrap your head around it, there are a lot of opportunities to make gold. It takes some thinking power and some research. Blizz knows everyone has google. Its not really just for getting quick simple gear.

It's actually a really well thought out system, and the best version of professions we had so far. The issue is, they made introduction quests in Dragonflight which explained how it works, but they didn't do anything like that for TWW, so people who have not played Dragonflight does not understand now how is it supposed to work.

also most crafting reagents having 3 different tiers annoys the shit out of me. i do not understand why it was needed.

Dude it really isn't bad. You needed 30 basic enchanting mats, a crest you buy from a vendor, and 5 shards from questing/drops everyone does naturally. The work order was an extra step you didn't need to do. Compare this to Lionheart helm from vanilla and it's a literal cake walk : farm multiple zones for crystals, claws, farm 92 thorium, find 12 alchemists to buy their 2 day arcanite cooldown, find BS with the helm plans (under 1% drop rate)

I actually really like the profession system, it needed depth; and it now has it.

Never thought id hear a terrible take from Xaryu but the crafting orders were revolutionary for casual players who don't care for socializing or do not have the time, its also really easy to understand, not to mention you have the internet at your literal fingertips to figure out exactly what it is you need to do.

The fact that you were trying to make a guaranteed Rank 5 weapon this early into the launch also didn't help lol. This system is meant to remove the BoP barrier of professions and allow others to use their skills to help others as well for ofc a small fee. Rushing the knowledge is always bad for understanding it haha. You can even allow them to use their profession mats. Thats where the gold spending on commissions comes in.

This system is lame af. Bunch of steps for something that should be simple.

The crafting system is so convoluted I don't even bother trying to learn it.

Why cant you select Quality in puplic orders?? that would make the system MUCH MUCH more better. So anybody can make them if they have the skill, you dont need to spam the chat, and the whole system would be used more often. I rarely see any pulic Order in the tab, more or less never.

it seems feels complex if you have never done it before, but you get used to it after a couple of patches. it has steps you need to complete and always following same steps gives correct answer every time and i like that. steps: 1- farm crest 2- buy enhancement item with farmed crests 3- craft / order enhancement 4- place enhancemenet during item ordering

yeah i feel the same, i just started using Work Orders now, and it was quite confusing. Having to figure out how to make a order, how to get the Crests, and then you need to find a person that can craft 100% the rank you want.

Your video is exactly what am going threw. I got a 606 cloak made and after he crafted he said you could have added embelishments and I was like ;/ Your weapon is awesome

It's very easy if you take your time and read tooltips in game. And if even with that you find it difficult, just pay someone gold to make it or even to teach you making it. Besides difficulty, this system rewards effort and time put in. Nothing comes without effort in this life.

Played since 05 and I like the crafting now better than when it started.

not to mention, you spent over 40k in gold for a weapon that will be replaced as soon as season starts

This system is abysmally difficult to start and incredibly easy to master. There should absolutely be more NPC orders and NPC order quests to get more people doing CO because it is actually a very intuitive system that brings more social life to this increasingly socially-barren game. It's a shame more people do not use the system, but the nearly impregnable barrier-to-entry is horrid.

HOT TAKE: Gear only makes retail WoW worse. If everything is a ranked system, but your rank relies on gear, but your gear relies on your rank, what's the point of having gear options when the only purpose it serves is to alienate large portions of the player base from large portions of the content? M+, mythic raiding and arena PvP, which is the 3 focal points of retail, ALL suffer from gear being in the game as it only serves as time and/or RNG gating giving players invisible weights stopping them from character progression, artificially extending the game loop in no meaningful way. Gear is the reason people roll 5-6 of the same race/class combo in the hopes 1 of those toons gets the REQUIRED gear to be able to participate in content. This is demonstrated for all to see in RTWF guilds, and is echoed time and time again throughout the entire player base.

It’s a really basic system. Basically to explain it in “Classic Terms”, You do the content in the game to get a currency, you spend that currency on a crafting material. You take that material and trade it to an enchanter to enchant it. Then you get the remaining materials and give them + your enchanted crest to a crafter and he makes your item. It’s literally the same system as classic but the Work Orders make it so you don’t have to spam trade chat to find someone and manually trade them…. It’s literally the same system but automated instead of manual trades 😭

I appreciate you at least uploading this vod because it helped me somewhat understand the system lol. I haven't understood WoW's professions and crafting going all the way back to legion

The professions are great and the system is less conveluted than installing addons. People just don’t use their brain that much anymore. Buy the mats, and put them on the market with a desired item you want crafted. It’s simple asf

Thank you so much xaryu!! they need to rework crafting so its a better balanced market where we as the players have leeway as players. Were not all merchants or whatever they're trying to get at with this new crafting system.. community interaction needs to a rebalance of some kind.

They made crafting needlessly complex though it was improved a bit over DF. It could still do a bit of simplifying..

This is a reason as a casual player, i often lose interest once i reach max lvl, i go to the main city and I have a bag full of random different coins, crest, shards, etc that i have no idea what to do with and then have to figure out 20 different systems to get gear, vaults, upgrades, convert to set piece, blah blah. old wow, kill boss get item, enchant gem equip.

if you played Dragonflight it's the exact same, just different names, you use the small 30 crest to make the blue into big purples, and use sparks on the purples to bigger purples.

They made a system that would make professions relevant and make people interact with each other again. It is a bit complex but Xar goes into it just expecting to understand everything right away, no patience at all. It is a bit frustrating to watch

If you see it for the first time, it's certainly not a friendly solution, but once you have 2-3 completed orders, it's a piece of cake and you enjoy it. It's not that confusing when you've been using it for four seasons in dragonflight and Xaryu is seeing it for the first time :D the rest of us have used it for 50 times, atleast. I mean whats so hard about this? You craft mainly for the weapon or Embellishments items. So you need full spark and crests + mats to do it. There is ofc little of RNG for quality of crafted item, but exactly same mechanic are used in all RPG when you have any kind of "upgrade" system, when you give vendor items and it has to chance to improve it or break it.

idk havent played since shadowlands and it took me about 20 minutes to understand how the new prof crafting orders worked, its not too crazy tbh and I kinda like how it works now

How do you know how much to tip? bc if u dont tip enough your order will sit there like Illidan in prison.

simplicity can be fun only to certain degree. Especially when we talk about stuff like crafting. Then it very fast becomes chore. This system is fine and I am especially glad they finally started addding systems that last past expansion

People complain that professions have no relevance in modern WoW so they create one where you can gather materials, craft peoples BiS, make money and it also helps with making trade chat more relevant and people still complain. It's not a hard system to work lol, you buy materials off the AH you find someone who can make the ilvl you want and you send it to them with a tip. (Most people aren't making r5 seeing as the game literally launched a week ago and their profession levels arent that high) he even said he did this in DF so why is he acting like it's foreign? The profession system is really good. The crafting systsm though could use work.

I have never noticed the track recipe button, cheers. Maybe I’m just tired after a day of work, but when I log on in the evening crafting a few bits for myself feels like it needs to much figuring stuff out.

from what i can see you managed to interact with the community, in a generally pleasant way. I think the issue here is you are trying to get the MAX craft on what day 2? You ended up getting your craft super easily once you found the crafter, and now your community has a better understanding of the crafting system, not bad imo.

I thought this was a clever way for them to make crafting relevant without making the game pay to win. You are using crafting to make gear, but you still run dungeons to gather the materials. So this system allows you to use your soulbound materials in somebody else's crafts. Its like justice points combined with crafting! Overall Im happy with the system outside of the enchanted crests. Enchanters already have lots of things to craft for gold, they dont need to add in one extra step just to make them happy.

The crafting system is there so people cant get ripped off and you dont have to trade mats anymore.

My hot take would be that the system is generally fine, but the UX of the crafting is T E R R I B L E.

They pretty much expect you to farm everything and when you think you're ready to craft, see if you have enough of whatever. If not, keep farming random things till you have it lol.

So glad i'm not the only one who hates this system. Since this crafting system came in, i've given up on professions entirely.

I have no idea why I bothered learning professions since I never do crafting orders, for me this whole system is also confusing as hell, you have mats and everything around it and still need to pay thousands to someone who just has the recipe and MAYBE he'll make it on highest rank.

Dragonflight took RMT a step higher with the new crafting system. Crafting 590 Epic for 100k gold is nothing. thats like $7.00. You drop $100 you got a mighty fine character at 80. You might not even get declined for raids.

if you are not breathing manually its litteraly super easy to get through, its not that complicated

I actually don't mind the system so much (once I took some time to learn it) but they should seriously add minimum rank to public orders

Anyone who brought these "ranks" into items should just be fired and never be hired ever again by another company.

have mats -> choose the reagents that will create the specific item you need (specific stats, embellishment) -> place order and someone else crafts.. gear have different quality that will indicate how powerful the gear will be once crafted, and you can have ask for max rank guarantee from personal order, this isn't rocket science

Work order system could have been in a trade window. Put mats in the trade window, lock them and it allows the other person to utilize them to create something using them.

I agree that the system is complicated but it covers all the cases for crafting. I feel they should have a tutorial for it in game or something tho

I had to go tru crafting orders with 5 of my returning 10+ years experienced friends, they had no idea what the right way of doing it was and when i learned it myself i failed multiple times and wasted many mats. lol this was in dragonflight

The game needs more player to player interaction. But at the same time its too hard to talk to other players for crafting.

It is a very simple system, just veru unfortunate that its 1 quest to show the inside and a small explanation and thats all. The ui and everything rest is self disovery.. but the system works fine. I do wish they just added the craft hall next to the auction hall tbf.. like literally just make left corner craft hall and right corner auction house ... or at least place 2 npc as the same next to each other.

As a casual gamer myself, while watching I realized I don't have enough gold to do this and I need to watch this a couple times to understand what is happening and how to get this magical 590 weapon. Thank you.

3 hours to get that done seems kind of appropriate when considering how many hours people will grind a heroic for their BIS adventurer weapon

the biggest problem is people want to pay crafters like the gold has classic level value, and it should take you longer than 10 mins to make the highest ilvl gear you can get other than mythics.

I think the craft system needs to provide a list of the top 10 candidates that can fulfill the minimun quality of your request, that would improve a lot that, asides estimulating the competence for "what's the best crafter" and along side of gold, reward them with achievements, prizes, etc. There you go Blizzard, I solved.

It’s simple if you just try it out more than once. It’s just another part of the game you have to learn. It can be better but it’s definitely not that difficult.

lol this is a system for top 5 guilds to craft all their characters full. they will buy all the materials for it with hundreds of millions of gold anyways. Normal player can interact with this system some months from now when the prices become more normal and crafters more common.

I leveled alchemy and blacksmithing in Dragonflight and I changed everything to gathering professions in the Warwithin because it was so frustrating and not worth it. I hate the professions that make shit….irritating!

I went 20 time to the wrong vendor or house. Also after getting everything sorted, noone is crafting my fkn order

I specced fully into swords in blacksmithing, thinking the bis crafted weapons for frost dk called charged slicer was a sword, turns out its an axe. RIP

i LOVE the crafting system but it 100% is waaayyyy too confusing getting into it

the whole knowledge system is trash. And too many epic recipes require 30k+ mats to even make, when they are literally just heroic level of ilvl. It's dumb.

Can your warband members pick up the order- or just craft via warbank?

honestly i loved WotLK for this, there were basically famous people on the server that made crafting a separate cultural/interactive part of the game. Everyone knew who could do what, there was competition for price/tip. bring that back

Honestly I love the new profession system. Really makes it feel like you're connected to the crafting community. New system is far easier than the old and allows for better use of resources.

3:30 its not replacing AH, it is replacing you LF tailor and googling mats you need to send to him and hoping he does not screw you over.
