Craftling: Kraken Guitar

The plan was, to build an electric guitar without power tools and it worked quite well. The only things I despaired of, were the inlays. Unfortunately, I had to cheat there. All in all, the construction took two months and was quite exhausting in some points.😅
It's my fifth self-built guitar. The look should be rustic and "pirates of the caribbean-style". At some point during construction I noticed that the body has something of an octopus, so I chose the corresponding inlay in the 12th fret. The body is made of maple with an oiled and waxed bog oak top. The three-part neck is made of beech and walnut wood. After long consideration, I decided to use golden hardware that I aged with hydrochloric acid (attention ... dangerous!).
The body has two chambers for weight loss. The "F-hole" is more decoration without an acoustical advantage and the cutaway is sufficient for me, but certainly not for everyone.
I ended up playing the guitar with my limited playful abilities over my Orange Dual Terror and my self made 1x12 cabinet. The recording was done simply with a Zoom H4n in front of the speaker without further editing.
The pickups (Duesenberg Humbucker) are splitable and produce a similar sound as the guitar from the last video. Unfortunately, the actual "pressure" of the combination does not show in the recording, but I'm pretty happy with the sound of the guitar. Compared to my last guitar she is not so heavy and clunky, also the sound seems somehow "more open" ... difficult to describe ... I like it. What do you think about it? Maybe someone has an idea how to get a octopus inlay in a fretboard with hand tools ;-)
Happy new year my friends!

Story goes that he started building the guitar in late 1980s and when he finally finished it 30 years later in 2018 he realised that no-one likes rock-music anymore and everyone is into mumble rap. When he realised he had spent 30 years building something that wasn’t ”cool” anymore he fell into depression and shortly after that he started drinking. Legend says that sometimes you can hear the Kraken screaming under the bridges or near the homeless shelters. In all seriousnes that is one hell of a instrument and i can’t wrap my head around the fact how long that must have taken! You sir, have a great gift!

Utterly inspiring, I was moved to tears watching this. Possibly the best thing I've ever seen on You Tube. Your effort in making this instrument is monumental.

I commend you for the amount of patience that you have you made something that is beautiful a should belong in a glass case to show to the world. This is the first video ive seen from you. As i watched from you making this guitar you made me want to go back and pick up my guitar out of the attic keep up the good work mate.

I've watched a lot of videos of people building their own guitars and what's crazy about this guy is he literally does everything by hand, even using a hand-saw and a chisel to grout. Every other video they have belt sanders and grouting machines and so on. It's like watching a Hatori Honzo sword being made. Amazing.

i love his commitment, even when he could use the most common power tool, he sticks with it and uses a hand tool

Jesus, dude. The amount of time and effort put into this is truly astonishing! That inlay is so sick, and the aged gold hardware really pops. Congratulations!

It wouldn't let me "Like" twice. I have watched it twice, and will again many times over and over. Very fascinating to be sure, and educational. I build solid bodies, and there is so much to take away from your process/approach...

Dude! This video is excellent!! I love your editing style, it’s funny, the sound editing is really cool with the way u keep a rhythm too the scraping, scratching, sanding, sawing. It’s just plain impressive, plus the fact that u built that guitar start to finish, from scratch, with hand tools, no CNC (minus the inlay) or power tools, is flat out outstanding. I love the textured finish on the edges, burning the wood to get that black color. It’s all just genius, creative. I love it

I'm very in awe of the whole process you made it look very easy though I'm sure it took a lot of patience. Making something like that look simple when it is not to most people is called GRACE

Damn! This is absolutely breathtaking. I was sitting here awestruck as I watched you construct that neck. I can see myself playing your guitar. It would be a pleasure to have such a fine, hand-crafted instrument.

He used a soldering iron *gasp*. That doesn't count though, right?

He also used a router for the inlays but, again, we can forgive him!
