This video is a review (overview) of a Craftsman professional 44 inch leaf sweeper. Great product for the most part. Saves a lot of time. Much better than raking.
This sweeper is made by Agri-Fab and is called the "Smartsweep 44". The Craftsman name adds another $30 to the price. I have one and like it very much with exception to the unloading handle. I removed it and now use a rope that I tied off to the seat of my mower. I have used the tongue in the offset position to allow grass clippings to immediately get picked up while mowing. I also am able to pick up small twigs with it. This is, by far, the best sweeper you can get!
Glad it was helpful. A few other thoughts: I have found putting the setting up on the highest setting when I do not want to sweep works. I have taken the lever off that empties the bag. The part that held it on the frame wore off letting it move, thus ripping the bag. Thanks for watching my video.
You need to set the sweeper brush bristles down some more so ya can pick everything up in one simple pass. The best & easiest way is to adjust the settings is on a nice smooth level concrete floor. Set your bristles down evenly with the floor then one more setting lower than that. This is what works best with me anyways with my Sears Craftsmen 42" inch lawn sweeper. Just sharing a useful tip with ya. Now if you're transporting it behind ya down the road for whatever reason or across your yard before your actually ready to use it, just adjust the settings to the highest level & this will pick the brush bristles completely off the ground! Good video.
Addressing some comments and issues. You need to lower the brushes. Agri-Fab recommends that the brushes be set 1/2" below the top of the grass. Your brushes should not turn when reversing. You can put the sweeper in "transport" mode by setting the brush height to the highest level. This prevents the brushes from picking up gravel and such.
Since this video is 5 years old, how many times have you had to replace the pinion gear or sprockets that wear out? I have the same model and I’m on my second rebuild. Even searspartsdirect recommends to change these parts yearly. I wish all the parts were metal.
I have an older black model of this Craftsman sweeper with the rope dump handle .Mine picks up 99% of grass and leaves in one pass. You don't have it adjusted right, check the instructions.
No. When the brushes catch, they stop and the wheels just skid along the ground. Plus, it's hard on the gears when it pounds on the ground every rotation of the brushes.
+Gurpreet Singh Saini I have a push sweeper, and yes,it will pick up small twigs and other debris, although twigs sometimes get caught in the brush, and have to be manually extracted.Sure beats raking, though!
