That stabilizer will help so much! I have an old scroll saw that stops my heart every time a blade breaks! ...well, almost literally. :) I also have this same saw (above) and will be ordering asap. Between the scroll and the bandsaw, I choose the bandsaw (now). Thanks so much for this video! :)

I have had one of these saws now for about 6 years. Took me a bit to get everything lined up and working right. I'm going to have to find a set of those guides. I do more scroll cutting with it than anything else. I haves used the tilt function in the past but really not in a long time. Thanks for all the tips Alex.

I just wanted to say thank you very much for this video. I watched it several years ago when I inherited this saw from my mom who loved using it for her crafts. She got it over 30 years ago and it was like therapy for her, hehe. When I received it, it was not really working so I tinkered with it and got it turned on and rolling. It was these videos that helped me get it really working and useable which meant the world to me. Also got the stabilizer as well, it was awesome. Now that it has been about 3 years of using the saw, the engine finally called it quits and is locked up. It had been a great tool and I loved using it make all kinds of family keepsakes for the kids and grand kids. Now that I have been bitten by the bandsaw bug, could you recommend a comparable bandsaw that I can replace it with?

What are your thoughts on this saw for cutting down stock etc for wood turning? Thank you for your time 👍 J.R.

I purchased the carter stabalizer for my tilt head after watching this video and it is absolutely fantastic! I have the older 1 hp 1 speed style craftsman tilt head. I had to cut little steel rings off the guide posts to be able to slide the original guides off. A question I have. Blades absolutely will not sit in the center of the wheel on my tilt head. They want to park much further forward. I have a standard style craftsman band saw and the deepest part of the gullet easily adjusts right to the center of the wheel. The blades sitting too far forward on the tilt head are making it difficult to properly align and use the carter stabalizer. Any suggestions? Thank you!
@bandsawlife2660
@bandsawlife2660 6 месяцев назад
Are you adjusting the upper wheel so that the blade moves one way or the other. I believe there’s a slot head screwdriver in the middle of the wheel when you tighten it it causes the blade to go back. If you loosen it it causes the blade to come forward.
@gjshape

Thanks for the 2 videos I have found where you describe adjusting the guides. I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I have with this bandsaw. The drive pully pin disappeared. I replaced the pin but the pulley does not want to stay square with the drive pulley on the motor. It starts straight but then one side tilts and the pulley wobbles. I get about a month of work out of the bandsaw before the belt falls off, the pin drops out and I need to start over putting everything back into place. Suggestions? I feel like there is too much play between the pulley and the shaft.

Just picked up one of these saws and both thrust bearings are pretty much shot; they're hard to turn with finger pressure. What are the limits of the stabilizer if I were to replace the thrust bearing with this? 1/4" blade? Could you resaw with this, or scroll work only? Is there a good source for replacement thrust bearings somewhere out there?
@bandsawlife2660
@bandsawlife2660 3 года назад
If you take the bearings to your local bearings supply house they can give you the best option for just upgrading the bearings. Carter’s bearings are all 30000 rpm and will out last just about any on the market. The stabilizer will work for scrolling up to a 1/4” blade
