That's electroless nickel plating they put on the wrenches to get away from the issues of using chrome plating. A tad more environmentally friendlier to use. Thats where the satin finish is coming from. Ken

I own a complete set. They are great and wouldn't sell them. My 10 inch jaw play is pretty consistent until the very end which then gets slightly looser.

I have the shinny older one. Not holding up well. Jawa are soft, but good workmanship.
