Just to say love all you guys! We grew up at the best time even though we probably never realised back then! Teary 48yr old nostalgia overload from the UK! 🇬🇧 😢 ♥️
The first time I ever heard this score was seeing the movie on VHS on a movie night at a friends place. Mid 80s here in Australia. He had the audio running through his big Pioneer sound system too. I can still remember being thrilled seeing that starfield and the main title theme kicking in. It still gives me goosebumps and a tear in the eye at 53yo. Thanks Craig!
40 years ago we were young teens watching The Last Starfighter in movie theaters. Enchanted and thrilled by its magic. To listen to this today as I near my 54th birthday, I thank Mr. Safan for this masterpiece. You made that 14 year old inside me cry and smile. Oh, the memories...
Craig, I hope you get to read this - this score has brought so much happiness to me, it’s what absolutely made the movie - I grew up up with it and had the honour of introducing it to my two sons - thank you so much
Maravilloso! This melody keeps ringing in my memory with a flavor of not knowing where exactly came from.... it takes me back to my childhood. Gracias Craig
Or even a sequel. As Xur escaped, and as Alex was tasked with rebuilding the starfighter legion, and Centauri’s game was still left on Earth, with perhaps even Alex’s brother also having the “gift” of being a starfighter. Yes, please. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Greetings, Starfighter - you have been recruited by the Star League, to defend the Frontier against Zur and the Kodan Armada - & then you look up to see that very Starfighter - the power, the reality, the music to go with it - if that doesn't stir you, I'm sorry, you don't have a pulse.
that piece of music brings goose bumps every time i hear it such a soulful inspiring soothing yet upbeat performance i love it even all these years on its aged beautifully thankyou
Fantastic. Very nice suite and great performance. This is for sure one of the greatest scores in my collection. When you close your eyes you 'll be transportet instantly into space adventure. This deserves way more views!
I can clearly see each scene of the movie that goes with each movement of the suite. I can hear Grig yelling SHOOT! and the sound of the scout ship exploding, the journy from Rylos to Earth as shown in the opening credits, everything.
This is the one score I listen to the most. Hair stands on end every time. Beautiful music for a Jem Of a movie. Which this orchestra performed flawlessly. Amazing to see you conduct too. It’s made my day. :-) I’ll be humming it for weeks again now. :-)
Craig Safan needs to hear the Southern California Brass Consortium's recording of his Last Starfighter Overture. His fans and fans of this particular suite of music need to hear it.
I hate concerts , why would someone stand for hours and watch someone play an instument....BUT i would love to be in the crowd of this song... amzaing...
I was about to post that the tempo is off, it's too slow in a lot of spots ... and then I saw whose video this is. I take it back. You're right - and THANK YOU for one of my favorite pieces of music!
Would've loved to have seen and heard this with my own eyes and ears. The timing is not the same as the original recording obviously. But still a great performance of a great score from what was the new golden age of sci-fi movies that was the 80's.
