Yep, I expected an arrogant, US teen with money type of boast, flashing money, etc. The guy seemed happy. Now I don't know his personal life and HFs always seem slimy but good for him. Just a little bragging but nothing too extreme
we are not in the 1980's anymore lmfao, I am going to go out on a limb here and assume u are from an English speaking country, who has never heard of the word "humility" also
everyone in the comments: he's not bragging he's just proud of his achievements! me: how tf is the taxi driver driving and filming this at the same time
“Why he wouldn’t be in a private car with his own driver i dont know.” Maybe that’s because he doesn’t think he is above taking a taxi like anyone else in the world. Which is cool imo.
actually it has nothing to do with thinking you're "above" other people. If you are worth that much, its financially prudent to have your own private car and driver. For most people, waiting 5 minutes for a taxi is no big deal, but when you get to a certain level of wealth, your time becomes very valuable. Its the same reason that its not a wasteful luxury for CEOs to fly first class, its a money saving choice.
If he is in London and not coming from his place of work (or common destination) then where was his car going to park in between driving him? Seems like someone hasn't spent much time in London.
I had a neighbor where I used to live. He was a billionaire. Worth maybe $5 billion net. He lived in the same house since the late 50's or 60's. Normal neighborhood. He was in his 70's at the time and you'd see him walking in the neighborhood with his wife, holding hands together. He came from poverty, was well liked and lived quietly. When he got older, he hired a driver to get him around in a Lincoln town car. His children and grandchildren live like kings. They each have houses Aspen, NYC, Miami & other places. I was lucky to know him. He had so much wisdom and that's what he left me. I would've loved getting some cash too!! He came from another country and had lived in the worst poverty. Self made people li8ke Mr. D are generally good people. His kids looked down at me. I don't envy them.
@@vg9073 He obviously got asked if he could be filmed and what he does for a living. Why you poor unmotivated kids get so butt hurt over someone being successful?
@@vg9073 The interview was done by Manny Anzalota who goes by "Mr. Ferrari NYC Celebrity Taxi" and records conversations for his Instagram. It's time you idiotic people stop being so toxic and did some research before you start hating on someone.
@@apostolos8734 Jesus christ Xcali steam rolled ya'll with sick facts. He murdered you when he brought up the taxi driver actually filming his customers for instagram when you started saying yeah right like he'll film them. Lmao, no one has lost so quickly since Denmark got invaded by Germany in ww2. Hahahahaha lmao
Agreed, the video looked to me like a guy proudly explaining his life's work to someone who presumably asked. He could've been more humble and delicate, but even billionaires are as human as any of us.
true, plus f one of this two guys would have made 1.2 billions last year or the year before i suppose they would just do the same, however last time i checked Cramer didn't do too well as a hedge fund manager
@Ip zen that is nonsense, I doubt even 3% of the positions in most hedge funds are short. They generally just buy stocks which allows companies to raise capital
They were obviously chatting, driver realizes he has a big wig in his car, whips out his phone and asks him what he does for a living for the content. Guy gives a straight answer instead of the standard vague “i’m in the financial services industry” trying to end the conversation as quickly as possible. I’m a successful entrepreneur and that’s what I always do even though I genuinely enjoy talking to people, answering questions, and giving advice. I’ve learned to always keep my guard up because being honest is often misconstrued as bragging.
So much this, dude. People get angry when you tell them you’re successful. I just keep it under wraps now. No one knows I have a little bit of success.
@@Greendragon420able well you absolutely know nothing about me or what I do, but still went on to insinuate that I’m a “sociopath” don’t know what that makes you.
Nothing to see here, people. He wasn’t putting the cab driver down or making him feel inferior. He’s accomplished great things and entitled to be happy with his accomplishments.
Agreed, nothing wrong with talking about your financial achievements. I think most people are jealous of rich people, and as media continues to demonises the “richest 1%” and government using it as leverage to increase tax. I think it’s better to learn from the rich, I.e, how to manage money properly, how to run a business, how to create value for society, etc.
The problem is he is rich. We need to destroy the rich by making the poor rich thereby destroying him and all others... But then the poor will need to be destroyed bc they're rich too. and then the rich will destroy the rich and every rich person will cease to exist which would mean everyone will cease to exist
It's strange how people talk about all the profits, they've been making through trading of bitcoin, while am here not making any profit at all. Please can Someone put me through on the right path.
Most time having knowledge or insight about a particular activity can as well be a pleasing exercise. I can boldly say that forex and crypto trading is one of the profitable money exchange services that elevates investors and their financial status.
And...? Rich people aren't allowed to mildly brag on occasion? What about rap videos? That's all they do but far more brash then this laid back, mild mannered apparent billionaire. He should apologize for nothing.
Facts, yet we bop our head to the beats and get drunk to it. I think its just good marketing from left-leaning politicians that this jealousy and hate continues.
Gusy crying about Cramer always crack me up. Betting on his calls buyin high selling at a loss. Idiots dont know how to play Cramer basic you need to just hang it up.
Check the news, lemming. This Man is the enemy. Think! Everything that anyone has to say about "companies don't care" "stepping on the little guy"applies here. He bets... on businesses FAILING!! He profits on businesses FAILING! Do you get it. This is the reason for the GME stock war. I promise you, there is ZERO need to defend this many, because he won't defend you.
Actually he seems to be humble, he is just happy about his success. EDIT: Actually, he had to pay fine because of this video...! Pure jealousy, obviously there was a conversation before recording this video, so it's out of context. Shame on news...
Two brand new Cadillac Escalades = $152,390 Two Drivers on $50k a year salaries = $100k Four security guards on $50k a year salaries = $200k It only takes $452,390 to look like a billionaire but it takes a billion dollars to actually be one. REMEMBER THAT!
The only people who showed hubris, arrogance, jealousy, and a generally distasteful attitude in this clip are David Faber and Jim Cramer. Particularly when Faber asks why he’d be in a cab vs having his own private driver, if he’s so rich. What a joke CNBC continues to become!
I'm pretty sure this is a Tik Tok his kids made him do where people introduce themselves as the highest paying person in the world for something then make a ridiculous comical claim as a meme.
"im the highest earning person in the world of finance" At first i was like yeah, of course you are. But then i checked his net worth and i was like wtfffff
@Chris Munoz that was the most shallow response you could have and proves you have no idea what you speak about , everyone invest money? You didn't even say what in . If you know what they did you would understand my original statement.
Imagine the same hedge fund guy, in the same cab, with the same attitude, bragging about making $100,000. There would be no issue then. Therefore it’s a jealousy issue. The news anchors made themselves look bad for judging with jealousy.
he even complimented the cabdriver, there was no uggly bragging going on, he was just proud about what he accomplished and was happy to share it to someobe who was obviously willing to listen
Actually like him more after the video. Billionaire in public transportation saying it’s and honor. Is answering a question honestly rather than lie. Seems truly happy about what he’s speaking about rather than talking himself up.
He was just proud of what he's done. He was asked what he does and he answered. If I were the best or among the best in my field I would be proud as well.
This guy seemed very humble, he was nice to his cab driver and he was clearly very happy and full of energy about his funds success. People should be allowed to celebrate their achievements.
I love that all the comments are defending this guy. One of my main goals in life is to be financially successful and if I ever get there I will be proud of myself and tell/brag about how I got there. Absolutely nothing wrong with what this guy did and anyone who has negative things to say are just jealous.
I’ve noticed that when you become successful, you aren’t allowed to brag about it. It’s weird. You should listen to wealthy people. You might learn something
Human nature. Sometimes people want to build up the underdog, and tear down the champion. In a sense it’s like an evolutionary mechanism for ensuring that no one human is “worshipped” by everyone.
@@ph_hacker_d You can listen to someone with an open mind without worshipping them. I'd say, its because people want to see you succeed but not more than them.
This guy has earned close to 6 billion dollars in 2017 and 2018 and triple his net worth after closing his hedge fund. How many hedge fund managers has earn that much in such a short time frame, even well-known managers like Ray Dalio or Jim Simon barely earn 2-3 billion dollar in their best performing year. This “Financial Journalist” are suppose to know about him.
I’m a Bernie supporter but criticism of this is just stupid. Rappers brag in just about every lyric about how much money they have or how many women they’ve been with.
definitely blowing this out of proportion. I was expecting him to literally make statements like "I could buy this taxi and you." Could he have been more humble sure, but it seemed to me that he was proud of his success.
Leave the man alone 😪 he was respectful and just proud of his accomplishments. Keep hating success until it become a sin? I guess that was people want.
Technically, this dude makes in 1 year what a NYC taxi driver makes in 46511 years. The average Taxi driver salary in New York is $43,000 In 2019 BlueCrest's trading operation returned 53.5% net after expenses and made Platt approximately $2 billion.
In response, I would say “instead, let me teach you how to make 10k”. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime
I don't like how the news nowadays takes things out of context in a bid to get more clicks. The guy, in my opinion, is polite, respectful to the driver and he's proud of his well-deserved accomplishments
How some wealthy white British guy in the back of an Uber would transform Warren’s campaign message trajectory is still a mystery? Buttigieg used a black couple from Kenya and had to apologize later. Let’s see how this would work.
You know what could be a good campaign ad? Playing a video of someone talking about how they use the media to manupilate stock prices. “What’s important when you are in that hedge fund mode is to not do anything remotely truthful because the truth is so against your view, that it’s important to create a new truth, to develop a fiction.” Something like that.
This dude just had a nice little buzz on and answered the guys questions....yea was it a little braggy sure.......but cmon I’m sure he gave the cabby a nice tip
Hey there's nothing wrong with working your butt off and talking about your accomplishments. The taxi driver probably asked him what he does for a living and he was nice enough to respond openly.
Yet, this is not humility, W THOR: 🥇 An objective measure of Platt’s net-worth does not support his claim of being the #1 hedge fund manager. (Of course, there are other, and also more subjective ways of claiming to be the #1 hedge fund manager.) ⚠️ In 2020, the year the taxicab video went viral, Michael Platt’s hedge fund had bigger problems than mere boasting: "BlueCrest agreed to pay $170 million to former clients to settle a U.S. regulator’s allegations that it effectively placed its own profits ahead of its customers." - as per Bloomberg article.
There was nothing wrong with what he said? I expected him to say “you’re so poor” “you’ll never live the life I have” etc etc but he didn’t say anything wrong. Everyone’s got a problem nowadays
