You do realize with brushed motors and non sensored brushless you can simply swap the negative and positive wires to reverse the rotation. For those reading this, if you have a *Sensored* motor, you *Can not* swap the wires. You will fry the motor/esc. Do not do that. All of that being said, I put a Castle Mamba X with a Slate sensored 3800kv system in my Gladiator. Oh wow does it crawl lol.
@upgradedrc3697
@upgradedrc3697 2 года назад
I did realize that. I prefer just switching to reverse on the radio if the rotation is backwards.

Trevis I love your videos. They are very informative. I have a gladiator myself. I am slowly upgrading it, but have been running it mostly stock. Looks like you got some good snow also. I’m down here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We got a little snow Saturday, unfortunately I did not run mine that day although I really wanted to. Anyway, I’ll quit jabberin’. Thank you so much for your insight.

Good info for the youth and those looking to get more involved in the garage and maintenance side of things. Nice to see new vids on brushed motors,,,,, seems like most are brushless mad though I have always seen it unnecessary in a crawler (edited) after saying I want a revolver,,, Haha but I know I will never have one.

Man I just love the motors from Holmes Hobbies. Though seeing as I do not have much money and I get great control with HW 1060, 80 with 35 turn crawl motor I get as much control as needed for a hobbyist. I really would love to do a belly dragger build though have just completed scratch build on a neat tube chassis I got for a good deal. Would love a brushless revolver with good esc yet I am very happy with my free mods and any I can afford.

Hey nice video and I would like to know if you do with the Hobbywing 1080 ESC if that motor would have a much better drag brake to hold like my TRX4 on a hill without rolling down hill so much. And good work btw

I have heard good things about the 1080 and yes it does have a good drag brake. But not as good as the Holmes Hobbies BRXL with it's Holmes Hold setting. Sorry, I have never used the 1080.

i just ordered the 550 10t for my axial scx10iii bronco. hoping i can drop it in pretty easy. and hoping i didnt overdo it with the 10t, i debating on the 13t
@upgradedrc3697
@upgradedrc3697 3 года назад
I found that 12t was the best for my application. But the 10t will have more speed. I bet you'll love it. Just don't put it in a position where it's straining to get over an obstacle, It will overheat the motor and burn it up as I did on my 8t.

Question: 28:25 ... you point to the ESC, and say your 6v system (remote set to 50%) will give you 3v for break in .... im confused as to how you get 6v output from your ESC with a 3s lipo ... I thought a 3s was 12v+ when charged .... wouldnt this give you 6v output @ 50%? Which would be double to break in voltage? Im new to RC, so im just trying to understand how the ESC only outputs 6v from a 12v+ system ...
@upgradedrc3697
@upgradedrc3697 3 года назад
No, no, the ESC only uses 6v max unless it's adjustable.
@charliebrown238
@charliebrown238 3 года назад
@@upgradedrc3697 I hate to be the bearer of bad news ... but ...If that is the case ... why does a 2s lipo, make the overall speed and punch less, then a 3s lipo? And of coarse the output of the ESC is adjustable ... how else do you explain variable motor speeds. I just done a simple test ... grabbed a multi meter, and unplugged the motor in the RC car, and put the mutlimeter leads on the output of the ESC ... when I squeezed the trigger, it showed voltage started @ 0 (then right up to 12.4v at max throttle). :) So just as I had expected, the voltage output of an ESC is far greater then the 6v you had thought it was. Not that it would really make a difference to your motor break in, but you would have broke the motor in on roughly 5.5 - 6.0v. I honestly had no idea, I just knew that 2s and 3s lipo's made a difference in speed and power, so the only explanation I could see possible would be the voltage would be linear to battery choice.
@upgradedrc3697
@upgradedrc3697 3 года назад
That makes sense. I was pretty much repeating the exact break in from the Holmes Hobbies motor recommendation and break in page.

Is it worth upgrading to another brushed motor or get the hobby wing fusion 1800kv w foc

It is worth it. I've had bad experience with Hobby Wing products, But all of the Holmes Hobby line up is superior to anything else out there in my opinion.

@upgradedrc3697 3 года назад
I think they should, but never done that.
@charliebrown238
@charliebrown238 3 года назад
Yes they do ... with some modifications ... due to the fact the Capra uses servo on axel and also has a centered pumpkin ... not offset like the Glad. I used the "Vanquish" Capra axel as they made it with an offset pumpkin, and it fit very nicely.

@upgradedrc3697

It's the number of turns that the copper wire is wrapped around the rotor. The video explains it well, just watch all of it!

@@upgradedrc3697 ok I saw the video....but in my case I have trx4 stock I do tons of trail running and not to much rock crawling...is this 15t the best option for me? Or should I go with an 12 or other number... thank in advance
@upgradedrc3697
@upgradedrc3697 3 года назад
@@idontcaresapo8233 For trail running I would definitely go with the 12t cause it will have more top end speed as opposed to 15t.
@charliebrown238
@charliebrown238 3 года назад
@@idontcaresapo8233 If you dont crawl much, and mainly trail run ... i would highly suggest you use Holmes Hobbies "Trailmaster" in either a 21t, or 27t. Dont stress because the number of turns is higher, as they have different "turn" ratings from Crawlmaster, to Trailmaster ... as the Crawlmaster is a 5 slot, and the Trailmaster is a 3 slot. So because they have different amount of slots for the copper to be wound on, the turn number changes. So your style of driving would be the Trailmaster series for sure :)
