@@blacklivesmatter2855 that’s how it is in real life too though, at many track meets and other sporting events like karate tournaments they all just bunch you together
liked how pretty much everyone was like "ooook...." right before Johnny says that line. lol then the announcer snatching the mic ouf his hands and saying "alriiiigght!! lol
She is a snobby snob of all snobs...don't forget to call her Sensei Samantha as is definitely earn that in this show.. what a joke she is...da phuck out of here, the cheeziest line she said in this movie, as she took down diaz...
I find it hilarious Xander (the guy in blue) is all "Lets all be friends and make a world of love and peace" and his mom is on the side lines shouting "PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE!!!"
Joe C I thought. Please not again. Enough of this shit. Anyway, glad Johnny told Miguel to "Kick that pansy bitch in the face". Karate tournaments are not about pacifist garbage.
I loved that Miguel did do the moment of Silence but still nodded when Johnny told him to kick him in the face. It's like "I respect you, but I'm still gonna hurt you."
that's true, but i think that Xander's mom doesnt know a shit of true karate spirit, just look at her way to cheer his son dressing like a member of the team( like the football), well it' s true that he's in a great dojo and his son is a champ but he achieve that skill thanks of his dedication and love of the martial art , but she doesnt even practice karate and acts like jock, not even my parents in my karate time, dress with the shoo re kai school shirts to cheer me up, they always watch like a other student that practice with passion and i see Xander like one and i like his form of mixing XMA and Karate its very difficult to use it in a real match, so really Xander mom's scare me
I don't think they are Social Justice Warriors. Sure a bit preachy but not on that level. The guy tries to be nice even with his mother screaming in the background. Whereas the mom, is more or less a soccer mom in a Karate Gi. And she's not like that all the time, she seems to get along well with Larusso's wife. They are mostly there to represent that third party you see in fight/sport movives. Like the nerd girl in The Wizard or that other Dojo in the first Karate Kid. The one that put up a fight with Johnny before it was Daniel's turn.
@@Meta.Muncher Yes realistically the kick sucks but this is fiction, and from KK1 it is stated if it is done right there is no defense. Miguel never trained for it and he used it against a bad fighter so it doesn't prove that he is good at it like Daniel and Miyagi.
@@Grivian That’s stated yet chozen blocked it like it was nothing. And it’s like I said before when Daniel used it johnny ran straight into it and in cobra kai silver was too beat up to even move and just stood there and got kicked. U say Miguel used it on a bad fighter but at least his fighter didn’t run right into it or just stand there and take it. The 1 time Daniel used it on a fighter that wasn’t rushing straight in or didn’t stand there it didn’t do anything
The rules changed. In the 80s the kick was omega illegal but now in 2019 face hits are legal in the all valley. Hawk and Aisha do face hits and get the point.
@@bluechezzwithsocks9117 It wasn't illegal in the film. When explaining the rules, Ali says "Everything above the waist is a point: head, sternum, kidneys, and ribs."
I love how in this first tournament, Carmen’s constantly worrying about Miguel’s safety but then in the tournament in Season 4 she’s not worried at all. She has confidence in his abilities
My mom used to get worried about all the stuff I’ve done relating to physical activity. She is now more used to the idea and is pretty much normal than usual when I get injured
@@digitalsimulacrum9259 I agree. In the original, you could argue that the move was to simply throw off the opponent, which it did. But the fact that they're trying to make it seem like some sort of secret technique is ridiculous. In real life, that'd be one of the worst moves someone could try to pull off with anyone. Hell, a bum on the street with no fighting experience could counter it. Then again, I've never seen this show. Perhaps it's not meant to be taken too seriously.
Looking at how skilled his students were at this point, Johnny’s an excellent sensei. Got one in the quarterfinals, one in the semis, and the last took the whole thing.
For everyone arguing about who executed the kick better Daniel or Miguel. The two kicks exemplify the two contrasting philosophies of Danny's method of Karate and Johnny's perfectly. When Daniel did the crane kick he went almost straight up in the air and executed the kick to Johnny's face as his opponent rushed at him. Think of it as the aggressor running into his foot and hence Daniel's was more a defensive kick as he was always taught by Miyagi to use karate not to attack but for self defense. Miguel's in contrast was both vertical and a forward lunge that resulted in more power and was an overtly attacking move. His version of the crane kick illustrated his senseis philosophy of attacking karate i.e. Strike first strike hard.
Dude... Miguel’s was fukin stupid. It didn’t even require skill, I can do wat Miguel did for gods sake. Daniel actually trained that kick. Miguel didn’t do it right did u see the way his hands were. The whole purpose of having Miguel do the crane was supposed to be a troll not actual comparison w Daniel. U can’t compare Miguel w Daniel. Daniel would shit on him as a kid
Well yeah, neither Johnny nor Miguel were ever taught the crane kick by a real master, his version is way more brutish but it is stronger. There's merits to both. This how series is about balance and how aggression and compassion must be equal. Two sides of the same coin. It's all about parallels.
Man I’m happy that Miguel shook his hand at the end he’s no all bad he’s just using the things he’s been taught. Also how would u feel if u broke up with ur girl and a new kid is tryna steal her I can understand why he’s so brutal with robby
Imagine your father left you in a home with a drug head mother and never did a thing for you and you had to steal because you had no food or electricity. But then you realize it's still wrong and make your entire thing about avoiding conflict and practicing peace. Then watch your dad be a father figure to another kid more than he ever was for you and then that same kid try to make you the villain and himself the victim even though it's his jealousy. Also robby didn't steal sam. He went to greet miguel with a smile at the party and Miguel's dirty jealousy caused him to try to sneak robby and punch his gf instead. And then the same guy ends up cheating with Sam when she's with robby. Miguel was a snake to robby. Crazy how people victimize him.
@@OceanMetTheSky I can also write two paragraphs about how Miguel is a victim of his own circumstances. It's almost like the entire premise of the show is that not everything is black and white but people aren't solely the sum their mistakes.
@@OceanMetTheSky Miguel did nothing wrong , his girl literally ignores him all day ( not by choice ) then shows up with some random dude and is suppose to be all chill about it .
@@awesomegirl5190 , I’ve never seen the original Karate Kid films, but the clips shown in the Cobra Kai series showed Miguel’s Crane Kick being objectively quicker and stronger than Young Daniel Larusso’s Crane Kick, and if the Crane Kick is totally a legal move and not illegal at all than Johnny Lawrence teaching Miguel to use the Crane Kick 2.0 in a tournament is totally justified otherwise Daniel comes off more of a hypocrite than Johnny Lawrence does.
0:43 I love this little part where Amanda smiles about Daniel being happy for Robby. She knows that Daniel loved training Robby and deep down he did regret snapping at Robby for not telling him about being Johnny’s son. She’s such a supportive wife and I think all the homies deserve an Amanda in their life.
Yeah. And I bet we got the same 80's song in mind. Really. This season made me go OD on nostalgia. They might as well have gone more over the edge with Bill Conti's "You're The Best".
1:28 This scene of Johnny and his other students rooting and supporting his tiny student with glasses (even if he lost, and they didn't scold him or hated him ) and that scene in the trashyard with their breaking and destroying cars with sticks AND WEARING GLASSES FOR PROTECTION are without a doubt the most meaningful and memorable to me.
@@collinbakker1024 if you're good you can hop on one foot without losing balance. And if your opponent is recovering from the leg sweep just do a downwards heel on him or smth.
Cobra Kai changed them from wimps to champions, well most of them. Miguel is the only one who had longer training, as well as Aisha, but she joined later and has some skills, then we got Eli aka Hawk, he improved on his skills, but not on par with Miguel. I hope the rest of them expand on where they are with their skills.
All three represent a Cobra Kai student in the old movies. Miguel is basically Johnny. Aisha is Bobby as while she's a brutal fighter she still has a good heart. And Hawk is a mix between Tommy and Dutch. Both major hotheads.
Wendel Chaves especially how she just disregarded that guys sportmanship and left when she didn’t win, it kinda takes out the whole point of him hardening them from little snowflakes, they still expect everything to go write for them and throw a tantrum when it doesn’t. Death to Cobra Kai
@@anhkhoapo if you watch analyses of them fighting. They set up the crane kick basically the entire round. And they also dnt enter the Crane Stance when doing it. They start off in boxing stances.
*An important fact that many seem to be forgetting: Johnny seemingly mastered the Crane Technique and taught it to a rather inexperienced student in such a short period of time -- bearing in mind this was a secret technique, which Miyagi learned from his father, within the Miyagi-do scrolls and Johnny only saw it once. Therefore, Johnny learned how to "stand and fly" at some point after Karate Kid II ~ It makes me wonder what if Lawrence had Miyagi as a teacher, instead of Kreese, whilst it also begs the question as to whether Johnny will be able to replicate Miyagi's pressure-point/nerve technique - the one Chozen recently taught to Daniel - if he were to ever witnesses it ~ In the latest Cobra Kai trailer for Season 4 we see Daniel putting Johnny through the ropes with 'wax on, wax off' and 'sand the floor', which should be relatively easily mastered by him based on this ~*
@@BartAllen yes it is the only thing miyagi about it is the way the hold there hands its clearly just a jumping front kick which is pretty easy so long as your flexible enough
Miguel bringing new life to that crane kick. Yes, it's still very predictable and unreliable in a fight but the way Miguel executed it was powerful and fast. Anyone who wasn't at least on Miguel's level wouldn't be fast enough to dodge/counter it.
Miguel and his opponents deliver far more impressive fights here than in the season 4 finale! Miguel is simply unrivaled in his intuitive ability and agility.
I love how people say the crane kick is illegal when Miguel literally did the same thing to that poor dude in the beginning. Also for people who are saying no kicks to the face look at 1:58
Thanh Do Huu It’d make sense if he was saying something like I’m gonna wreck you all or you’re all weak or you can just quit now. BUT NO he made the most hypocrite speech a karate man could make.
I felt the same way about Daniel too but after KK 3, I can understand why he’s a bit concerned with opening of cobra kai. Samantha tho, is just a piece of spoiled shit who has everything cuz of a rich daddy.
“Yes Aisha”, she’s probably like “why is Sam even trying to support me after all the BS she has done?!” And didn’t she mentioned supposedly that all cobra kai people are BS?
Haha Sams funny I can't believe he stole your move. Gtfoh that was not your fathers move. He didn't invent it and im sure was used many times before he did it. Also Miguels crane kick was better than Daniels. Looked alt more powerful.
Humza Qureshi Humza Qureshi First off, learn English please, I had to get my nephew in here to translate for me. 2nd off, as someone who actually teaches Karate, both Daniel and Miguel did the kick correctly. They just did it differently, Miguel put a lot more force behind it, you could tell in the way he leaned forward so much after it connected. Daniel’s kick in the original movie, was much faster, and snapped back quicker, he didn’t put quite as much power into it Both are legitimate ways to perform a Crane Kick. Or as my studio calls it, a “Flying Front Kick, Form Two”
Truthfully idk how anyone could even fall for a crane kick. It would appear should obviously know whats coming. Of coarse im not a karate expert or taken any karate. But if i was fighting someone and they was doing that ima know a kick to the face is coming. So im going to be watching for it.
danny knight and that’s the thing, it doesn’t have to be a kick to the face, it can be a kick to the chest or stomach as well And the version I was taught doesn’t involve the fancy stance, You start in a basic fighting stance, pick up your back leg as if you were about to perform an offensive front kick, then jump and switch to a defensive front kick at the last second. It’s a lot harder to block or even predict than you’d think
Yea that kind of crane kick would work better. Like Loyoto Machida did in the ufc. Meant how they did it on the movie and show. Getting in that stance and then doing it. The opponent should know what's coming. Whether going to be in the face or some where else. Should be able to avoid it. But like i said not a expert only know from watching.
danny knight now I’m no Kung Fu expert, but from what I do know, there are other moves that can be thrown from the Crane Stance, not just the infamous Crane Kick,
John Kreese: We do not train to be mercy for year, mercy is for the week. Here on the street and competition, the man who can front you, he is the enemy and enemies deserves no mercy. What is the problem, Mr. Lawrence? Daniel: Hey come on, let's forget this. Miyagi: Wait, not yet.
@@gagetaylor192 Yeah nobody beats Miguel in a 3round fight. Only people who will come close is Hawk and Robby😂💯 Crazy how they sent Miguel to Mexico to get him out of the fight loop hopefully he comes back stronger
Timothy Kwoh I can vouch for him when I wrestled in high school for my first match I lost, but the difference is that I never got to wrestle again because of my grades in economics
Just wait for the actor to hit puberty and adolescence, maybe the director will ask him to buff up for the next seasons. I want to see him have the same transformation as Hawk.
I missed the "other competitors" that we had in this season in the finals of last season. I personally think it was cool to have one of the schools that wasn't in the rivalry still showing merit.
Poor Bert. Never stood a chance. Can't wait for his redemption in Season 2. Sensei. I think I'm going to sit this one out. I'll just get my ass kicked. The hell you will. This time we're putting you in the junior division. ...There's a junior division?
I wish that they featured Xander more in the series. Dude had an excellent match against Miguel and he might’ve been able to help out eagle fang in season 4
He has gotten more calls to play other roles in movies. I think because of his popularity in the Cobra Kai series and his acting has improved tremendously in each season. He supposed to play the main character in a movie called Blue Beetle. It supposed to be a major movie based on a Marvel superhero I think. I think him being in Cobra Kai has helped him improve his acting skills to take on better roles in major movies. I expect to see a lot of him in the future playing in major films after he's done with Cobra Kai.
