I one time took a bunch of filets and just fried em in a pan with butter. They did shrivel up quite a bit but if you have plenty, they were great for fish tacos. Just a small flour tortilla, tiny bit of slaw, and some lemon juice🤌

Respectfully trash the stringer and get you an HT jumbo floating fish basket. Hang it over the side of the boat and fish stay alive alot easier. 19x30 they're cheap too. My grandpa had the same one for nearly 50 year's.

Why do you put the stringer through the skin on the mouth and not through gills to the front?

Easier to get off stringer and keeps them alive would be my two guesses. Go through the gills will kill them

They die anyway on a stringer, usually in the first 5 minutes. Basket over the side of the boat is the only way to keep crappie alive in a job boat.

I hear ya on the basket but believe it or not in this cold water these fish are still flipping when I get home. When the water gets to warm they go right on ice
