Yep, it's cold. It's also hard. No Crash this time, though. The death route is where the fun truly begins. Make sure you memorize this and be invincible when you get there. It makes it so much easier and more fun. You have to do this entire route three times. Once to active the switch at the end, then go all the way back down and use the checkpoint. In other words, make sure you don't break it before you go on the platform the first time. Then a final run through the route to pick up the gem, commit suicide and continue from the checkpoint. I find the side scrolling part after that checkpoint to be the hardest part of the level. So many tricky jumps and things that can go wrong, and you no longer have any masks at this point.
There are several places where I found it easy to get stuck. There's also kind of a glitch on the way down to the bonus stage in form of an invisible platform. In the original, you could both get stuck in the wall and walk on the ceiling here.
