I'm pissed. Not because I loved this game, but because Jirard thinks it's weird Crash has no neck despite that both Mario and Sonic have no necks.

I think he means Crash's head seems to be fully integrated into his torso, whereas Mario and Sonic's respective heads are clearly separate from the rest of their bodies.

It's a hard game to stomach without nostalgia goggles, that doesn't mean people aren't allowed to like it but it's definitely aged a bit poorly. There are better platformers from the time period. I like the original Megaman Legends but the game is pretty awful and aged these days. Still one of my favorite games but it's pretty rough, even in comparison to it's sequel

Tomba 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, but I'd never played the first one I finally got around to being able to play it earlier this year for the first time, and it's very much akin to how Crash Bandicoot 1 compares to 2 and 3: still good, but not as polished graphics-, gameplay-, and control-wise

You can call this the worst out of the trilogy, BUT you gotta admit it's got the catchiest intro theme out of all of them. (And the best music for the riding section)

I've always loved this game. it was one of the first games I ever played, and since then I've 100% the game 3 times. its pretty balls to the wall hard, but i always felt that the 2nd and 3rd were pretty easy. i would call 3 a little too easy to 100% to be honest, but they're all great, and I've 100% all 3 multiple times, but I've always felt that the 1st was by far the best

Something I always found kinda interesting about both Crash and Spyro is that strangely Universal didn’t capitalize on them especially at their prime. Yeah Crash had short lived toy line and there were occasional McDonalds Promos but both seemed ripe for potential in other media, specifically cartoons and more so in Spyro’s case comics although a Crash Comic could probably work too.

I had fond memories of Crash 3 too and decided to try out Crash 1 on the PS3. I can never muster the heart to play through it though, especially seeing as I always end up playing from the beginning and forgetting the code for the following levels.

"Willy the Wombat" was scratched, because the Crash Bandicoot devs abhored that name and the marketing person who came up with it. They laid down the work to storm their boss' office, complained, and got a name of their choosing. The devs had a long lever for a lot of things, even with regards to strictly illegal stuff, all thanks to Crash Bandicoot being the only real competitor to the also upcoming Mario 64. Additional trivia: Internally, Crash Bandicoot was called "Sonic's Ass Game", due to the inherent challenges of making a 3D platformer. You can read why Aku Aku is helping Crash in the manual. He is, and I quote, the "benevolent protector" of the Islands, is upset about the pollution Dr. Cortex has caused, and so is helping Crash to thwart his evil plans.

Even still though, Nocturne was my first main series game and (aside from some references like Hijiri's identity) I understood the game fine. DDS is great but Nocturne stands on its own pretty well.

The first Crash is my favourite in the series. The way it makes you work for the saves and completion makes it a real challenge. Simple and effective game.

I got my PlayStation for Christmas and my step mom bought this game for me along with it. I can attest to the difficulty, but it is possible to get 100% with a LOT of patience and practice.

Crash was my first PS1 game even before I owned the console. The local Internet Cafe had an N64 and PS1 which was good for trying out games. I loved Crash and still feel most fond of 1 & 3, immediately bought them all on PSN when they came out =).

Back when I was a kid, my family went to universal and crash bandicoot was there! I was really excited to go see him so my dad and I shot over to take a picture. I made my way to him and we lined up for a photo. Crash had a megaphone so he could talk to the crowd, which was weird for mascot dudes, but cool. I lined up next to him and he said over the megaphone, "hey kid is that your dad over threre with the video camera?" It was, we always filmed our family trips. I said yeah, and Crash said "Okay, good... Cause otherwise that would be weird." So Jirard, I just want it to be known that furry universal Crash is LOOKING OUT FOR YOU. 👍👍

I'm actually sort of scared for when Jirard completed Symphonia. I mean, I /love/ the game to death. But completing it 100%? At the very minimum, it would take I believe 3 playthroughs since there are three story paths that give you an item for the Collector's Book and there's also the need for every title for every character. Now, there's also multiple endings involved for every character that's dependent on a few things, which can bump the 3 playthroughs up to about 8. So yeah, it's sort of a completionist's nightmare even though the game itself is great.

Is possible to die and still get the gems, but only before getting the first checkpoint as the game doesn't keep record of all the crates you have broken unlike the other games. Still the hardest of the original trilogy in my opinion, but is a title I like coming back to every now and then.

As for another 2.5D platformer for the PS1 that can be hard ESPECIALLY when completing it, there's a game called Pac Man World. You all have probably heard of 2 & 3, but the first game is a collectathon for completion, and it can be ridiculous to get everything (Which includes the fruit key from 1,000,000 total points). Oh, and the PS1 Oddworld games are another completionists nightmare

you should complete Crash Bandicoot 2 N-Tranced for the gameboy advanced, collecting all the normal crystals and time trials is fairly easy, but the gold and platinum time trials, are pretty much impossible to beat

I saw Twinsanity in your collection. Personally I loved that game but I'd love to hear your take. The game sure isn't without it's faults and I'd love to hear how you feel it stacks up to the original series and the vastly inferior follow up games. Huh, don't remember not being able to die in ALL the levels in the game, just the ones with the Breo or Cortex cards, and I've completed this game at least 3 times. Then again it was a long time ago and my memory is terrible so...
