Some advice from an Aussie 4WD'er. Never, never, never go up any hill at any angle!! And lower your tyre pressure to about 15PSI, 23Kpa, 2.3 Bar looks like you need the traction. When moving at an angle with open diffs, one wheel on each side will always spin. Anyway it looks as if everyone is OK. And maybe you can drive it home. With more oil!!
Those Pajero/Montero models had a level on the dash w a red line intended to keep them out of this type of jam. Unfortunately many people used them as an indicator of what was safe. Mitsubishi had lots of lawsuits and removed them from future models.
He shouldn't have turned the engine on, it's logical that the engine oil and other fluids had been spilled out over their original recipients, so, as you can see, the engine oil was spilled in the front of the car and there was white smoke coming out, that means the motor was suffering oil combustion inside the cilinders. And for the color of the oil, seems like the owner haven't changed the engine oil for a long time since the oil was very dark black.
Should had turned on differential lockers, more chance of correcting tilting if vehicle was moving not moving backwards. at 0.20 the engine is revving up, the wheels on the ground had no power while all the power is distributed to the wheels at the air. This driver made a big mistake.
@RReaper100 Yeah it is, that's why they sell it with a different name here. Other "awckward" car-names are, Durango from Dodge which means "really hard" and Borrego from KIA which means "goat"....lol...
If your vehicle finish upside down turn off the engine immediately and don't start it again, you can damage it. The oil in the engine will flow to a cylinders, and if you turn on the engine - the crankshaft will snap
That roof only collapsed AFTER the guy with the recovery strap added alot more strain on the pillar putting it back on 4wheels. If it was pulled over with a proper tow truck or braced before rolling it back over it would of been fine and barely deformed.
@EGGLOVER2010 It was filmed in Romania. UK cars are pretty common here, people buy them for cheap money, they give a shit on them and after a very short time they end up in donor cars for parts selling.
@matttam666 Pajeros who participate in Paris dakar races are no stock Mitsubishis att all exept the logo...also other car brands are not stock in Paris Dakar rally...it's the matter of commercial stuff and nothing more...
@l3sophia Sure it's not an older one? It's a Turbo Diesel Intercooler, but without the air intake on the bonnet. I'd think it's an older 2.5. I have a '95 which is a 2.8, with air intake..
Just wondering... did u check the oil level before you turned it on again after the crash? There is a lot of oil that probably just fell out because the truck was roled over.. but you should have checked..
This has nothing to do with suspension travel. The center of gravity of the suv moved past the center of mass far enough that physics took over. Driver error, admittedly a costly one.
@MrAlien79 I wasn't saying the Pajero is a superior off road vehicle. I was simply implying that if you buy a Jeep simply because it come with a roll bar then you're mental. I have driven a YJ, Land Cruiser, Pajero, Land Rover Discovery 3, Toyota Hilux, Nissan Xterra, Silverado, F150, Ram and the original HUMMER. The most versatile offroader was HUMMER due to it not using solid axles, it's weight and the stance. Jeep's are good 4x4's for their price.
@selant07 yeah good points all round, but not all of us can afford such things! a good navigator will get you through very much easier... keep it slow i have to agree with totally here though
What an idiot, he was aksing fo rthat to happen. Why anyone would apply so much throttle to an incline when approaching it diagonally bewilders me! A Pajero is capable of that and a lot more extreme, its just a case of knowing how to do it, and what to do when! Glad nobody was hurt though, and at least he was still smiling!
Loko esa maniobra q hiciste esta mal mal no ves q esta muy inclinada la colina y ademas lo hiciste xon la camioneta de costado era obvio q se te volcaria.
thank for ur concern. everyone is ok.. ..i t seems that this kind of mitsubishi is not so echilibrate like lrd3. we will but safety bar on ouside and then we can rolling hahahah
Hope it doesn't put you off 4WD'ing. its great to get out there and explore your own country and sit round the fire at night and tell some stories. (you will definitely have a story to tell). Good Luck.
The Pajero/Montero/Raider of that generation is a fine offroader, but this is a serious case of driver failure. If you want to climb something like that, do it head on, not sideways like that. This guy got what he had coming.
@matttam666 those paris dakar pajeros are hell lot different from these domestic ones... that's what we all assume the brand pajero have won paris dakar 11times lets try offroading this weekend.. then u rollover... use commonsense people..
I hope no one got hurt after this accident I own a Pajero too and I do some light offroad at times. From reading the comments this video tought me how to approach such angles. Thank you for uploading and good luck in your future adventures
dude that roof is scary i fliped a 69 ford econoline and drove it 4 2 months after it wasent even bent didnt even break the glass............/\ scarry!!!!!!!!!!!!
The older Pajero's and Montero's had a simple ball level on the dash with a red line for tip over risk that Mitsubishi stopped using due to lawsuits. A lot of people depended on that little ball to indicate that their vehicle angle was safe. As you can see the line between safe and cuss words is thin.
