+Morgiman Gaming Thy Physics engine is the Beam Engine (funny isnt it?) ... ROR is based on the Ogre Graphics engine and BeamNG is Cry Engine 3 ... the physics code is almost the same ;) But Both are awesome simulators :) Nice Video Btw ;)

Try Wreckfest. It's a racing game with good, realistic crashes, though it's not a soft-body physics engine.

7 years later my opinion has drastically changed obviously. Beamng has come such a long way in terms of not only physics but graphically as well. I have just about 1000 hours in the game, I probably won't ever stop playing it.

Thanks. Better at crashing? No... you can only adjust the engine speed/torque and what wheel drive the car is unless you actually edit the node/beam structure in the vehicle editor.

They would both give you good practice for your driving tests in my opinion!

True. Check out my latest BeamNG vs. Rigs of Rods video (Crash Testing 3)-I do in fact both use my gaming PC and have the two games open at separate times. It makes for a more professional video look and, yes, better game performance. I am also now far much better at video editing, and use Final Cut Pro over the Windows Movie Maker I used to make this video.

No, I use version 4.5.1, which was released years after 38.67. It looks a lot better graphically than 38.67, too.

Nice! It should work fine if you give it sufficient RAM. I have a Pentium 4 PC too! (384 MB RAM though) You can check out a vid I have about playing Minecraft on it, and I may be uploading one of it playing RoR 37.126 soon!

TechMaster+ Well, this Pentium 4HT just so happens to be my main desktop computer, so it gets upgrades. 2GB of RAM (which is the memory limit), ATi Radeon R7 240 by XFX (2GB video card), Pentium 4HT 3GHz, 200GB SATA Hard disk, SCSI controller, Windows 7 Home Premium.

I am interested to know if RAM makes a difference. Can you see how Minecraft runs on that pc and compare it to my P4 in my vid? I can see if RAM is the key resource for games to run well.

+TechMaster+ RAM does make a difference but not a huge one unless your pc is bottlenecked. When my Macbook Pro (2011,intel i5, iGPU HD 3000) went from 4gb to 16gb of RAM the fps performance increased by 10-20 fps depending on the game. Minecraft saw an extra 20 fps in most scenarios and Battlefield 2 never dipped under 70fps unless I had anti aliasing turned on(with 4gb it would be similar I guess) and GMod 13 runs at ~60 fps with near maximum settings(didn't have a point of reference with 4gb). FSX will run decently with 4gb but 16 gives a huge kick(extra 10-15 fps on low/medium). Don't expect RAM to be a pc's redemption though.

Haha - well, that is if you play on 38.67. On 4.7.0, the graphics are actually very respectable and actually challenge my GTX 1080 quite a lot!

Well, they're both on low. I was quite surprised with how well they ran too considering how bad the laptop was (The specs are in the description). I did another crash testing video once I built a better computer - it can run them together at 60FPS at max settings (This computer was only about 20). However, I only ran one at a time so that you could see more of the screen.

For sure. In this comparison series, for this reason, I tried to compare vehicles of comparable quality.

Water droplets in RoR? I haven't seen any. But yeah, both games definitely have their strong suits. The pickup in RoR is a Chevy S10, and I think it used to come with the content pack. I don't think it does anymore, however it should still be available to download online.

@@texemplarstudios5481 When you drive your car in the water and drive back out, there are droplets on the surface that touched the water. I downloaded RoR a few years ago, and there were these droplets. When I redownloaded it a few weeks ago, there weren't any droplets anymore. But luckily I found it in the Settings menu, you need to enable particles, then it should work... I think I found the pickup, thanks!

Oh that’s cool I’ll need to try that! And glad you found it, it’s a pretty good mod. It’s basically the Honda Accord in truck form. Speaking of, there’s this quite interesting mod that just came out called the Honda Halfcord.

+Gucio Rysnik Same here. I like both since both have pros and cons. In ROR I love how you can make cars go really fast in the .truck file, but I like BeamNG since it is way closer to real life. Most ROR cars don't even crash. But I think if had to pick one i'd pick BeamNG.

Well, that probably was due to the settings being on high or the mods you have. But, if you can run it, I like BeamNG too!

TechMaster+ Kinda confused. You said an iMac and then you said Windows 7, so you have an iMac and installed Win7 on it? Anyway it doesn't really surprise me because Macs are ok for most things but terrible at gaming

Yes I have boot camp, where I dual booted OS X and Windows 7. I never use OS X though. So yes, my "Gaming" computer (my most powerful one) is my 2013 iMac with Windows 7. I made this video on an HP laptop, which has a i5 and no gpu, so Idk how it didn't lag! My IMac gpu is a 750m 1gb chip.

Ah neat. If you ever get a desktop computer, look into building one- well, not quite building, more assembly. It's easier than it sounds and is very cheap (prebuilts are awful usually)

(2007/2008) The funny thing is, I don't have a case for it! The motherboard I got from an old HP dc5800, which does not fit the ATX case I had laying around. The only parts I had to buy were a 500 watt PSU and a GeForce 8400gs. The CPU in it is a Core 2 Quad, which can run RoR 4.5 on it pretty well! (Obviously not better than my iMac

I also told you to ask the creators of the game Not the support center. That is true. BeamNG is just a more advanced but more limited version.

BeamNG is far newer so it is a better simulator. Though, there is something about the community, mod pool, and simplicity of Rigs of Rods that makes it awesome as well.

It’s older, but has more mods, multiplayer, and more easily customisable vehicles. It’s also free, and it always has been as well. Try it out!

I looked at the site a few days ago - it's completely revamped from what it used to be, and it's quite interesting. The repository is completely revamped as well, and I just downloaded a bunch of new mods. However, there still aren't many new mods.

Well, not all of the mods are great... Try using some by Gabester such as the Gavril Zeta. Those will crash properly.

+Cole Jackson If you want something to play on that Dell, try to find a copy of RoR 37.126. It plays on my 2001 Sony VAIO with a Pentium 4, so rest assured it will on the Dell. Also, most mods support v37.

I tried to keep the speeds as close as possible, but there is no way to use a "cruise control" function. It is kind of hard on a keyboard.

Yep, they're the same map.

Don't forget that cars have a thing called reinforced cockpit, wich makes the car not crumble as much as you see in RoR. Only a very high speed crash has the force to crumble the cockpit, since all the force is loost at the Engine compartment (if you get a head-on colision) P.S. : sorry if you don't understand my english above xD

I wish it was! What I do is install Windows on my Mac (I have 7) and then you can play games like RoR and bNG. It hasn't worked for me, but you can also try programs like Wine and Crossover on Mac OS.

So short answer is no, and for best performance install Windows.

There's no being late to a Texemplar video! It's an older version of RoR, so I'm not sure if it still works, but I'm pretty sure it's J or K or something around there. You'll have to have replay enabled in RoRconfig (or in game if they have replay still on the newer versions because there's no more RoRconfig)
