I do understand that now he is in a position where he values time more than money. He needs to keep things moving and he would rather just replace broken equipment because it's faster than fixing and because he can. One day when I can replace everything I break right away I will think of Casey and say I did it.

If you see in one of his vlogs, Casey finally receives his Canon 5D which he sent to canon for repair which cost him like a $1000 or more. Don't get the wrong idea that he replaces broken equipment always. Some times he does replace but on other occasions he gets it repaired. He is a true repairman if you ask me. Look at all his tools!

I think he's just saying that if you work hard and work towards being really good at your craft - you can eventually have the money to buy the gear you want/need several times over. My vlog is just a hobby, and I've saved up a lot of money to buy the gear I have. I wouldn't risk it the way he does.

People are in the wrong mind of thinking. It's his job it's probably a business expense he accounts for at the end of the year. His job(income) takes a hit if he doesn't get good shots, those shots are probably "valued" more than any piece of equipment he can break and replace.

He does it on purpose on camera. Look at the way he opens his packages. As much as I love his vlogs, I'm with everyone else that gets infuriated watching him purposely mishandle things, seemingly to make content out of it. No one is angry that he crashes a drone in a tree, or breaks a camera falling off a skateboard. People are angry that he drops them while opening them, slams them around while packing, and throwing things around because he can just afford another one.

So, while a 1D/5D are /more/ durable, it's not an order of magnitude difference, and Casey isn't in Syria or Iraq. At the end of the day, Casey is using professional gear too. No war/journalism photogs are toting around film video cameras anymore.

Yes, he does have the luxury of being able to pop into a store and just buy new gear, but broken gear also takes time out of work. It halts the process, and there is no way to know what's missed when, instead of being out filming, he's making yet another trip to a camera store. Also, don't fall into that YT comment trap of assuming that I'm "hating" on Casey either, re-read what I wrote.

Yeh its his property but its wasteful. i fly model planes and when i crash i dont go and buy another i will substitute broken parts for new ones. if your car engine breaks you don't scrap it and buy another... these drones are not cheap there over $2000 dollars. The reason casey doent care is most of his gear he gets for free so just bins it or hangs it on his wall as a memento of his wasteful attitude.

Jacob Turner I agree that they are tools. But they are not wrenches. So if he wants to use these highly sensitive and fragile tools longer than a week before replacing them, he could avoid slamming them around when setting them down. It's his money, so he can do what he wants. It just makes me wince to watch someone abuse something for no added benefit when in the context of setting them down on a table or a floor.
