HI GUYS! Welome to crate training 101..This is for Educational purposes only!! Depending on your situation. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SMASH THE THUMBS-UP 👍 FOR MIKKI!!
Mikki, you can't imagine the patience your parents might have to train you! 😂 all those hours there sitting and teaching you!! but you made it! you all can be very proud! 🐶
Training our fur babies is so important , our little guy was so easy to train , but we were retired and had the whole day and night he was a wonderful dog he traveled everywhere with us . Yes treats are king .. excellent share :)
Hey Mik and Vik! Great to see this video today on how you train your puppy to use the crate and be comfortable. It looks like it takes a good amount of patience and time but it seems like you have it all figured out as she seems comfortable and content to be there in her bed. We don't have any animals at the moment, but good for future reference if we ever got a dog. The crate you have looks like a great quality, and construction. That's sweet that you put toys in with her in her care, so she feels at home. Great that she doesn't mind the door open or closed when inside. Great video and love you guys to the moon! :)
Awww thanks guys!! You guys are truly awesome!! We just wanted to help others and using our experience and knowledge to guide those who really need help w crate training! Hopefully these tips can benefit others! I can see you guys getting a puppy one day! BEARS ,Butters and Boba!
To take the training one step further, you can also introduce a ‘magic’ word to release her from the crate. Taro is expected to wait in his crate even with the door open until he hears the word ‘free’. This is mainly so he doesn’t bolt out when the door is open, especially if we have something exciting in the home like guests lol Pugs are super excitable so impulse control is important
Ah I never thought of this..magic word for exiting!! Thats def the next step to crate training! Great way to learn to be well manner!! You need to teach me how to do the shotgun trick
@@MikkiShihTzu, I’m sorry to hear that you are getting criticism😞 Some people don’t care about there pets like you and many of us that do love our pets very much, so there mean, and those kind of people definitely should not have any pets. I so much love how you did your training with sweet Mikki🥰 Keep up being a great parent to little Mikki💖
I don't have a puppy now, but watching this in case I impulsively adopt a dog one day and have to crate train my future-newly-adopted-puppy. Might give up midway and give in to sleeping on my bed instead lol! You're so patient with Mikki!! And Mikki is so smart too!
Réincarnation de l intelligence Très obéissant ils n ont qu un maître C'est notre fierté C'est beau cette façon de l éduqué Merci pour votre dévouement

It's so important to do crate training! our dog loves her crate she hangs out in it even when the door is open. I guess it's their equivalent of having their own room 😄
@@MikkiShihTzu If you see me now, while I'm reading your reply, there is a huge smile on my face, from ear to ear, out of happiness, and excitement. See you tomorrow princess😊
This is an awesome video. I have a shih tzu Chloe who is 11 yrs old in a few days time. We adopted her at 9months and she was already potty trained and such a good girl. Now we want to have another shih tzu girl and I'm learning all over again. This is an excellent learning to crate. Thanks.

Hello hello Mikki! My furfriend is sooo cutie cutie pie! Woof woof! :) Thanks for the tips/advice. But sometimes my full attention was to Mikki (haha..) because she's so adorable.. and she's big now! :) She's so cute on bed. Love you, cutie pie Mikki Mikki! :)
Omg princess granny dog! How are you my dear friend! I have not heard from you for awhile! I hope all is well! Thank you for coming by to see mikki! She is all grown up now!
Hi Mikki! Mikki’s crate is soooo much bigger than Taro’s 😂 I think Taro might be due for an upgrade lol this video is actually very well done and would apply to most dogs especially small breeds. Thanks for sharing your experience with Mikki. She is so cute 🥰
I like how you open and close the gate slowly.. depending on their mood.. it's like my niece when she wants something she can't have lol.. definitely need to make sure they're behaved 🙂
Oh, interesting. We thought crates were for timeouts. Good to know it's the other way around. It's definitively useful when you need to travel and they are already used to the crate.
I recently trained my new Chihuahua puppy to use a litter box. As I purchased a 24 X 18 wire doggy crate and stuck a doggy bed, a doggy blanket, and some doggy toys inside it. At the same time, I also bought a 24 X 18 solid plastic container with high sides. Then using a hack saw, I cut an opening on one side of it big enough for a chihuahua to enter and exit it with ease. I then filled the bottom of that plastic container with one inch of pine pellets to make it my new doggy litter box. Then with the puppy inside the doggy crate, I butted the litter box entrance to the door of the doggy crate. As the idea was the puppy would sleep and play in the doggy crate and then would eliminate in the litter box and it worked like a charm. As this was by far the easiest and fastest way I have ever potty trained a puppy and it was also the first time I did it without having not one puppy mistake inside the house whatsoever. In fact, the best part about this method is the puppy literally trains itself. Meanwhile, using a litter box means I don't have to worry about maintaining a schedule to let the puppy out. I don't have to worry about whether it is snowing or raining or whether it is freezing or too hot outside. I don't have to worry about leaving the puppy alone for extended periods of time. I also don't have to worry about fleas, ticks, or my puppy picking up a disease another dog left behind. Had I realized the convenience of using a litter box sooner, I would have been using them a lot sooner. Not to mention that there is no faster, better, or easier way to potty train a dog than the one I described above. Lastly, the pine pellets are not only odorless, but if you use a sifting cat litter box as an aid to clean your doggy litter box, it makes cleaning your doggy litter box a snap.
Hey Mikki! Your mom and dad must be really proud, you are so smart 🥰 Your dad is so patience on training you. Well done Vic! Good tips and information in this video for dog owners who want to train their puppies. Great video 👍🏻
Hey THD!!! Yes training mikki takes alot of time and patience..dedication! We are lucky mikki was a fast learner! She very smart!! She knew not to panic when the door closes!! She so well behaved!
Hi Mikki and Vic! I can imagine how hard this training has to be. It would break my heart to see them crying. I am not strong enough to train the puppy, I would just hug them all the time... I think this is why Lieles doesnt let me have puppies. 😁😁
Hahaha! Pup training will take all your free time ! It takes alot of time and patience for sure! Otherwise boy you will never be able to sleep at night. Wake up stepping on poop...lol
My neighbor has an adult dog he adopted the dogs previous owner kept a "Shibainu" in a crate most of the day as she went to work and this went on for over a year I know that this is not the case here but my point is the dog now goes in circles for minutes on end and this was confirmed by my neighbors veterinarian due to being in a crate it has caused psychological harm as to why the dog now just goes in circles.
Hi flygirl! How wonderful! Very nice to know of tucker!! I hope you have a great time with tucker!!!! My only tip is patience and repetition with training with any particular area...sure enough they will get to understand you more easily

Hi princess Mikki, you look stunningly beautiful as usual. Dad, It is a very nice video, it's entertaining, calming and educational at the same time, you did a good job. What I like about the training is that you're not overwhelming or exhausting her. You are training her very smoothly and calmly which it shows very obviously on her body language and calm behavior. She comes first and she has to be very comfortable and relaxing, with or without training, and that's what you are doing dad. Just one little observation, I noticed that the floor is slippery for her going in and out of the crate, is it possible to put a small door mat in front of the crate door, just a suggestion. I enjoyed the video so very much. I'm so happy to see how the princess was enjoying her treat and resting comfortably in the crate. God bless you dad for the love, care, time and patience you're giving to the princess, the iconic beauty queen. I love you princess Mikki sooo very much, you're lucky to have such loving and caring parents, and they're more LUCKIER to have you in their lives because you're such a blessing❤💜💋💙💛💖 ❤🐶❤⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😘👌🙏👍
Thank you mervat for your kind words and encouragement! I always think to give dogs the best environment stress free life as much as possible for their long term being..I totally agree with the door mat on front of the crate we used to have a rug under it when she was crate training to prevent slipping....mikki is due for a haircut and needs to get those paws trim..the fur is making her slipt..usually when its cut..it takes care of the situation..lucky thats coming very soon! Tho this is just for the video...honestly mikki does not use the crate anymore...she 100% housebroken..the door is usually close and she never uses this particular crate anymore only for nighttime she sleeps on her other crate..we should add a doormat on her small crate tho! Good advice!...we just wanted to demonstrate to all the wonderful audience new puppy owners hows it done and the best way to keep a calm dog....thank you mervat!
@@MikkiShihTzu I APPRECIATE YOUR KIND REPLY. PRINCESS MIKKI IS ABSOLUTELY LIVES IN A VERY SAFE ENVIRONMENT, WITH THE BEST LOVING AND CARING PARENTS. I DO NOT SEE ANYTHING THAT MAKES ME WORRY FOR A SECOND ABOUT HER WELFARE AND WELL BEING AS A HUGE FAN OF HERS, SHE'S ABSOLUTELY IN GOOD HANDS. REGARDING THE CRATE, I REMEMBER FIRST TIME REPLYING TO YOU CALLING IT A CAGE, YOU ANSWERED ME THAT SHE SLEEPS IN THE.(CRATE ), ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT TIME FOR HER OWN SAFETY UNTIL SHE GETS OLDER, AND LOOK NOW, HERE SHE IS A BIG INDEPENDENT BEAUTIFUL GIRL, SORRY, PRINCESS. ALSO REGARDING THE HAIR , I WANTED TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THE FRONT AREA IF IT BOTHERS HER EYES, BUT, YOU READ MY MIND AND TALKED ABOUT TAKING HER TO THE GROOMER WHICH IS GOOD FOR HER, EVEN, SHE ALWAYS LOOKS CLEAN AND NEAT. SOMETHING ELSE I LIKE ABOUT YOU AS PRINCESS MIKKI'S DAD, IS YOUR COMMUNICATIONS WITH EVERY SINGLE FAN OF HERS REGARDING ANY CINCERN, WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY WISE AND SMART AS A CARING PARENT, AND WHICH I APPRECIATE IT SO VERY MUCH. LASTLY, SORRY FOR MY LONG REPLY, WHICH IS OUT OF MY LOVE TO THE PRINCESS. THANKS AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL🙏😊
Thank you mervat! Thank you for the your concerns and care for mikki! We simply can not thank you enough for the love you give to her! I know you always mean well!! I take every opportunity to answer and comment back when the opportunity lets me! I believe its important we can share a connection to mikki supporters! Having you write to us and long paragraphs we do not mind! We just hope to see mervat in her continuing journey! Have a lovely Sunday!
Sorry I have a question, I am watching your videos so I can prepare once I have my own shih tzu probably next year ^^;; Would it be okay to crate train the puppy when they're 8 weeks old? Is there like a certain age? I was also reading online about feeding treats to shih tzu like if you give them treats, they might try to trick you to feed them treats instead of dog food. I was reading how some owners experience their puppies not eating their meals because they want treats haha
These is a great in depth training for creat training. You guys are good dog parents. Positive reinforcement is a must. When we get a new dog we’ll have to go back to all your training videos. Dogs just love their treats for sure.
I agree ! Positive reinforcement is always needed...show them love and care..as long you have the recipe to formulate the training your job will be alot easier
I don't have a video on furniture biting...our dog never had this issue biting furniture really so no experience but this has to fall in the same category as biting your hands as well...simply replace your hand w a toy....repetitively...if that doesn't work...give her a Firm NO! Don't bite....or each time she bites..try to wimp and pretend you are in pain..
