OK tourists Crater Lake was formed from the collapse of a volcano. Now you know lived my whole life in Oregon. Only been there maybe 10 times. There are many more places to visit so if you are coming make sure to have at least a week or two. My personal favorite places are the Columbia Gorge (Multnomah Falls) if you go there cross the river and drive down Hwy 14 in Washington so you can see the true majesty of the waterfall, Oregon Caves (caves like the name says :) and riding through the scenic byways get a map :) Have fun be safe

Such a beautiful place. Have never made it there... maybe next year.... This geologist confirms your "why the water is so blue" explanation. Add to that, there are no clay bearing soils in the watershed (like we have in the midwest which turns every creek ugly brown after a heavy rain), The lake is actually cleaner than rainwater.. as rain drops pick up small levels of atmospheric dust but that gets filtered out by sand and gravels formed out of the volcanic rock surrounding the lake.

You can carry a 8oz bottle of bleach and use a cap full or some water tablets. But what I do is,and you have a shitload more room than me is carry a Berkey water filtration system. You can get the small one (1.5 gals) it stores inside itself and you can literally drink shit water, itll come out the cleanest nicest water you've ever had. The black filters last 10 years and while traveling I dont use the fluoride filters but I change them every year. Ps if your filtering mud water put a small sock over the black filters and you'll clean them way less.

@@TwoWheelsBigLife they have really small ones down to water bottles but for two people I dont recomend anything smaller than the 1.5 gal one sometimes they will give you a water bottle and they are great if your hiking next to a water source or you just want better tasting potable water. Another great episode. My BIL is a retired forest service ranger in that area. He says the clear water and reflection of the sky in the depth of the lake is what gives the lake the deep blue color. It is believed (but not yet geologically proven) that the lake feeds underwater springs that then flows into several downstream rivers. The theory is based on the temperature of the water in Crater Lake compared to the point where the springs enter the rivers.

Wonderful video, guys. Really nice job capturing this iconic lake. I remember the bumpy road! But why does the HD get all the attention? I kind of like that white bike.

What was the sanitizing tablet you added to the water jug? I had mine setting with bleach water a couple of days and rinsed it but now it has the bleach odor in it. Wow that was some very blue, very beautiful up there. I keep thinking "stop, photo op"...lol

Those kinds of landscape photography are to die for, absolutely incredible. Can you imagine those views with a drone? In the US it is not easy to fly a drone in areas like with so many restriction. When you go for walks, do you put your helmets in the tour pack? With your trailer, I would be worried that someone would come along and steal with a truck or large vehicle being small? I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of your camping adventure. Thank you for sharing

Thanks Allan. Yes, we lock up the helmets and everything else of value on the bikes. As for the trailer, it doesn't have a standard ball hitch, but a heim joint instead so that makes stealing it much harder. So far we've met nothing but awesome people in the last 1 1/2 years on the road so never been too worried about stuff getting stolen.

These nice folks don't do the 'midroll' adds, try to let the opening and ending adds run to help them out a little bit, just turn off sound if you don't need the products... that's what I do...:)

Where you stayed, was there any electric power or was it a primitive campsite only? I don't mind primitive, but shooting video it would be nice to have power to recharge camera equipment at the end of the day.
@TwoWheelsBigLife
@TwoWheelsBigLife 3 года назад
No that spot was all primitive. That’s why we have all that solar.
