The problem with that is once you hit a spot when you panic you can’t just exit the cave, you still have to go through all those squeezes that got you to that point just to get out

I was one of three who extended this cave back in September 1984. The other bods were Martyn Farr and Clive Gardener. We broke through to a further 2 miles of cave which has now been pushed to 26 Kms in length. I don’t recall it being that tight though. We used to drag ammo boxes of camera kit through those crawls to photograph the wonders of the place. Good cave is Daren Cilau, as long as you know what you’re doing! Great video which made me laugh. 👍

literally had a panic attack watching this. experienced something similar while caving years ago, except the last squeeze in this particular cave was underwater ...never...freaking...again.

I've done quite a bit of caving in the past, which is why I haven't been claustrophobic since the age of about 14, but this cave, receives the HARDEST of passes from me.

This amazing cave system is near the lovely village of Crickhowell in Wales. I’m not sure why even the country wasn’t mentioned. Thanks for showing me a part of my homeland that I’ve never seen and won’t ever visit. There’s much more fun than this to be had above ground in Wales!

I've never seen myself as claustrophobic, but I did get half-stuck 4 times while caving some years ago.... that was not comfortable. You are stuck inside a mountain. The feeling of being stuck in stone is quite panic inducing. If you've been stuck in a crawl space or ventilation shaft or something similar there's often a bit of flex in the material. There is no flex in a mountain. The entrance was 60ft tall and 150ft wide, but it got tighter and tighter the further in we got. The exit was so tight that the one guy chubbier than me had to turn around with the guide and crawl back for 4hrs to the entrance. Watching this vid gave me some massively uncomfortable flashbacks. Ugh...

I NEVER comment on vids. But I must congratulate you and Matt on a truly sterling effort! Have you done any caving before? You don't seem to have any other caving videos. I have done the crawl many times, and spent up to 48 hours in the cave. But spending 10 hours in the crawl would put the s***s up me. So well done Ed, too! The fastest possible time is much less than 1 hour each way. Speak to Ed again and I am sure he will lick you into shape... ;-) Then you could think about doing some enjoyable caving...

Claustrophobia is an irrational fear. Fear of getting stuck in spaces so tight, that the possibility of you getting stuck there is very real, is not an irrational fear, in facts it's the opposite, very rational.

I've been to this cave, it's an excellent trip! I'm confused with the order you've edited this video in. You must have already gone through the vice on the way in? I would also say quite a few more than a hundred people have been there, good filming though.

That's the best thing about a cup of tea. I've never had a cup of tea trap me upside down in complete darkness while I wait for all the blood to pool to my head so I can silently die alone while my friends rush off to get "help".

Claims to be claustrophobic, gets through the cave. Im freaking out just watching this and there is no way I would ever go in there

Ahh good old Daren, been a while since I have been there, it gets nice after that 650m crawl, it's huge. The vice, from what I recall is not that hard provided you stay high, it's only about 50 - 100m in from what I remember. It's one of the few caves in Wales without a gate as the entrance crawl weeds the wheet from the chaff. I think there's been a lot more than 100 people in there though prob more like 1000, including yours truly who's been to the camp (Restaurant at the end of the universe, I think is it's name). I assume you used the same entrance to exit (it look's like on th vid), though you don't give that impression on the vid (creative licence I guess), but what that does mean of course you guys would have done the vice twice, on the way in and out. BTW, you can take your helmet off if you can't turn your head, though you have to be careful if you do for obvious reasons.

What nonsense. The last time I did this a few years ago when I was in my 60's. I am 6 foot tall and weigh nearly 15 stone. The Vice is snug but doable! The rest of the crawl is just boring for 400 metres.

I bungee jumped recently. NOTHNG like this. But I get the feeling of achievement. Fighting your survival instincts at least once. Facing death level danger. Voluntarily. Something everyone should do.

I sometimes have dreams kind of like this, where I try to get through some kind of awkward paths in order to get somewhere. I am not sure if I exactly feel claustrophobic in those dreams, but I do feel very awkward, and a little bit uneasy.

Nutty Putty brought me here. Can´t imagine being stuck in such a narrow space. Upsidedown in a angle of 70 degrees. With my feet almost touching the ceiling....living another 27 hours before death released me from this hellhole.

wow. you really did it! the fear i used to have. clausterphobia but i faced it crawling onto the bottem of my table and on the chairs! it was pretty clausterphobic.

There was a certain cave where you have to be on your back because it is underwater imagine having your face an inch or 2 from the roof and being underwater your back is scraping against the bottom of the floor you realize the cave ahead is blocked off you try to move but your stuck
