​@@valeriejoynelson1409 Spring Creek in Goeres Park in Lodi is loaded with big crayfish, however they are rusty crayfish. We caught about 30-40 in under two hours, cleaned them out for a couple days and boiled them up. I'm not sure rusty crayfish are the best for eating though. They meat was ok, but the heads smelled a little funky.

Thanks for checking it out! We live in the country so I have a well and use well water. I would not recommend using city water as the chlorine may kill them.

I think that’s a great idea for next season.

We are up in northwestern Wisconsin but crayfish are abundant in most streams where lots of rocks are found. Sometimes you have to try a few spots at the right time of day to really hit the mother lode!

I don’t agree with a lot of these restrictions either but at the same time I also don’t want people going out and getting in trouble because they don’t know the rules.

As was clearly stated in the video, the equipment I used could not catch a fish. It was not useable as fishing gear. There was no open hook because we had pinched it closed. There was also no reel and no way to cast. I talked about the legality of the setup I use with a Wisconsin game warden and he said it was all legit. He said they just don’t want people fishing with crayfish as bait and that’s why you aren’t allowed to posses useable fishing gear and crayfish at the same time.

Yes. You are correct. However I verified this method with a Wisconsin state game warden. We have no hooks in our possession that aren’t bent closed and we have no reel on the rod, just a piece of line tied to it. There is no way to catch a fish on the gear we use. He said that the intent of the law to make sure people aren’t using the crayfish for bait for other fish so as long as you don’t have conventional fishing gear with you it’s considered taking by hand. I do make this point in the video as well but maybe not with that much clarity. Thanks for the input!
